Sidney Crosby gets video tributes from Alex Ovechkin, Connor McDavid, Brayden Schenn and plenty more foes, family and friends for his 1,000th game with the Pittsburgh Penguins. #Crosby #Pens #Ovechkin
This was so awesome but I still can't believe Nathan MacKinnon wasn't asked to pay tribute to one of his best friends and fellow Cole Harbour boy. Congrats from Truro, NS Sid. Huge fan since the Tim Horton days way back when. Cheers to another 1,000
WE here in Pittsburgh have been blessed. The early penquins teams were competative but until Mario arrived the teams did not WIN. Now a Stanley Cup standard. With much Thanks to Sid Crosby for coming here and demonstrating what a true hard working Champion is. CONGRATULATION # 87 and 1000 more!!
What I love. On the ice they battle. Blood, sweat, tears. Off the ice they recognize the player as a fan, the person they are off the ice. The person as a friend. Sure sid has cried a time or twenty. He admits it. As a Pens fan I am lucky to have watched him from the beginning. Just hope he stays around long enough to take my 2 year old son and for him to say someday, he saw Sidney Crosby play.
I'm not even Penguins fan, but damn, if keith is on there then what the ****, might as well throw Roenick in there, they even left Iginla and Recchi out.
Wish Michel Therrien was in this one. He was in the video congratulating Sid on 1000 points and he was so genuinely excited for him. Therrien laid the foundation for the 09 cup run and I think everyone on the Pens at the time knew it. Bylsma was a joke and was in the right place at the right time. I've always appreciated Therrien, and I think Sid has always had an appreciation for Therrien, too. Anyway, seeing the guys from the HBK line in this video was enough for me. I also hope Sid does go to Moscow one day to hang with Malkin. This video was awesome.
Wouldn't be surprised if all 3 are still playing 5 years from now. Ovechkin I would expect to go first, once he's got the record (plus he's the oldest).
I love how generous Ovi is with Sid, congratulating him on all his milestones. Especially since Sid almost never does so publicly to any of his competitors...lol...he's still so savage about competing after all these years. I've seen him congratulate Ovechkin man-to-man, but he doesn't like to be too friendly with opposing players, especially his biggest rivals.
I subscribe to a Pittsburgh pay sports site and I can say McKinnon did send a congratulatory message. I don't know if he asked it to stay private or not, but he did congratulate him. No idea on Toews.
They train together in the summer, they've played on Team Canada together, and they're friends. Why wouldn't he have been in this video? Crosby, Bergeron, and Marchand are boys.
Crosby, Marchand and MacKinnon go golfing together every summer. Crosby and MacKinnon are from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia and Marchand is from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. Crosby and Marchand have played hockey against each other since their Minor hockey days.
@@scottanderson1623 Are you sure? Crosby's rookie year was 2005-2006, and I think Marchand's rookie year was when Boston won the cup in 2010-2011. That's a big gap. Don't think they'd have played against each other in juniors with a 5 year gap.
@@chrisg7731 You're only looking at the NHL. Marchand turned pro in 2008 - 2009 with Providence in the AHL. They played against each other in the QMJHL in 2004 - 2005. Crosby with Rimouski, Marchand with Moncton. Crosby was born August 7, 1987. Marchand was born May 11, 1988. So yes, I'm sure.
