here's an example that good sound doesn't need to be super expensive.
enjoy guys and thank you so much for being here .

I agree there ! Really a pleasant speaker and easy to drive. Not to mention easy to modify and better with simple low cost mods.

Yes, crites makes an upgraded titanium tweeter and upgraded capacitors for your crossovers…..i highly recommend them….idid it to my kg3.5’s and wow, what a difference…..so much more intricate and sensitive

I actually have a video where I upgraded them, I lined the cabs with dynamat, and I replaced the tweeters with titanium domes. .. Still a very good speakers in my book. They do service in my secondary system (marantz)

I just discovered your channel. I totally agree about the KG4s. My pair don't match serial number wise & found them separately for sale & got a really good price for each one. They are great for my tastes & budget. I power them with a Dynaco rebuilt ST70 with a Schitt tube preamplifier, Technics NOS direct drive turntable & NAD streamer.

Ohh my next video will be some modifications I want to do to them that might improve them a little bit! Without breaking the bank 😁 They are really excellent speakers , they do not dethrone my kappa 8.1 but dang ,I like them better than most Klipsch speakers I've heard to date. Very wide sound stage presence too , and the upper end is just great aslong as you don't push them into the horn harshness which can occur on crazy volumes. But man love them ! Great looking speaker too honestly. So brother enjoy definitely a good speakers. I'll make a follow up video (this weekend ) talking about some upgrade ideas. And thank you for joining my small little channel my friend. More to come !

I was thinking about buying a schitt pre……do you recommend it? I’m running my power section through a rega brio ………..but would like a schitt tube pre to warm things up a bit…..

Hmm, I’m curious about these. Like you I’m pretty sensitive to brightness. I’m putting very warm and smooth gear in front of my Zu DW’s, and I’m pretty happy with em. I’ve been wanting a pair of horn speakers for my yard in the summer. I have an overhang to give em shelter

Got to say I like them, are they are refined as what I am used too no. But it makes up for effortless sound, fantastic imaging btw. Instrumental seperation was relatively good. But the more so vocals dead center made the speakers disappear. Low end is not sub low deep, but very tactile and fast sounding. Offcourse , that's just how I experience them. That's not universally so seen the many different rooms, music what not. The midrange is definitely to me the star very articulate and forward sounding without overbearing itself. I did notice when you hit very high volumes, you get into the shouty territory of the kg4. Can't go around the fact it's a horn tweeter. But I'd say in your case using them outside these would do it. They play loud enough to do so!

Does the mullet come with the advice?……..lol………I have the kg4’s,3.5’s and 2.5’s but my favorite is the kg3.5’s…….they have by far the best soundstage….and very sensitive @94db at 1 watt…….

I used to own a pair of these speakers. I loved them up until I was about 30-35 years old. Then suddenly I coudn't listen to them anymore. They suddenly sounded too bright for me. I have found the same with other brands. I loved the horns up until my hearing got too sensitive though. I mean when Dave Matthews starts to hurt your ears then it is time to move on. I really liked them thought for rock music. I especially like it with loud rock music.

They tend to do that on higher volumes, they are very expressive speakers sonically. Forward sounding and definitely build to rock the house. I agree with you there, Rick is definitely their forte. I get very good low end out of them in my secondary set up. And I have modified them this far with titanium diaphragms and inner Dynamat lining. Which did reduced cabinet resonances a good bit. I still want to carpet the front and back baffle, to temper any baffle diffraction/resonances as much as I can. I also have them 2ft risen of the floor on stands.

Some say the NHT super ones are a dated design. Do these stand up to modern competition like an Emotiva B2+ or Triangle Br03?

I don't really understand why people would say that. Speakers have not changed much over the decades. Woofers are still round, domes are still domes what have you not. So not sure why people would talk about outdating. Being dead serious, people who use that as a argument. They totally talk out their ass.... And not defending superOnes, just stating the very obvious. Okay , to the point I guess 😆 I cannot give you a solid answer there as most definitely I never had the other speakers before. And it's also challenging because of the many different variables. Your set up, room, music choice all different. Not to mention, who's to say you would hear them here that it's not up your standard ? So hard to say my friend, I do feel that for the money you can find them. And you really have some power (low sensetivity) superOnes can sound really amazing.

I think lot of that is marketing and hype. Examples are like of klipsch heritage series( which hasn't changed much over many decades) garners class A rating currently. If you belive the reviews which always states this years model leaves last year model in the dust, , current speakers should embarrass 70year old designs. Lot of it is to drive sales, drive need for unending upgrades. People rely on others for what sounds good when musical taste and ideal sound is extremely variable between biased reviwer and listener. Best advice is listen for yourself And the current reviewers raving about klipsch dissed them as glorified PA speakers back 80-90 when Klipsch didn't spend the advertising $$$. Once they spent the $$, over night they are the greatest thing on earth..

Exactly, everything you said is true. I've said that for years, nobody can tell you how something will sound in your situation. I have done a couple reviews on my channel but always unbiased as much as I possibly can and make clear. It's just an opinion one of MANY. I have friends that absolutely hate infinity (no secret I love the oldies) Until they hear it here , ohh wait a min so that's how they can sound in a better placed environment. In reality there are not that crazy many "bad" speakers out there. It's often a demand and/or limitation may it be space or equipment wise ! It's very situational what works and what doesn't. And i also do believe there are budgetary speakers out there that can outdo them older designs. Simply because we have a better process from beginning to end. We use computer simulations vs prototype building a pair and testing (which increases cost ) I'd not be surprised a 1k pair of speakers today outdoes a good few that cost double 30 years ago. Definitely, marketing has a lot to do with todays "rankings" the more kickback a reviewer gets the more he will give a certain brand exposure boosting sales .
