Daniel, awhile back you did a coin video but captured orbs appearing, in this recent video. Did you notice the orb that decends at a curving angle from top right of black screen behind you. You'll see it within the first 13 seconds

One of my first coins as a kid was an 1820/19 large cent in filler condition. Only cost me a buck, but gave me years of pleasure. I wish I had never sold it!

I love large cents. They're cool and many are still very affordable. I recently handed one from the late 1700s to my 12-year-old niece, and told her "that when that coin was minted, George Washington was president. Perhaps John Adams or Thomas Jefferson used it to purchase snuff." Her reaction, holding a piece of our nation's history and commerce in her hand was priceless.

I have to say Daniel, as a new coin collector, it is crazy how many times I have had a question and you put out a new video covering the topic in great depth. Even showing how it’s done with comparisons, examples and possible mistakes during the process. I am very grateful 🙏🏼. Your channel provides so much value. Thank you.

I haven't necessarily cleaned any coins, but if I find a keeper I like to wipe them off with an eye glasses cleaning cloth, doesn't seem to harm them any. I figured if they don't scratch glass, it won't scratch metal. Also, I haven't really had a chance to look through it yet, but I added your app last night, and it seems like it's very helpful so far. Thanks

I submitted a comm. Half dollar to PCGS for grading.... it was returned upgraded marked pvc residue ! I "restored" my coin by soaking it in acetone then rinsing it with soap and water... I resubmitted my coin and received a grade of MS 65. I appreciate your videos and the knowledge that you share with your subscribers.

The key is to treat the coin as early as possible. Verdigis is natural oxidation and will pit the coin. PVC is not natural, but can also cause permanent damage. Acetone can certainly help in the early stage. Just be careful about any wiping. Also, for copper/brass I would say that 'Coin Care' is the best of the products still available IMO. Cheers!

I have two MS large cents but they're both brown. They do have lovely luster. You really need a lot of red to justify the bump in price from BN to RB. RD and RB large cents also tend to have carbon spotting.

That "U"... 😂 I know it was a common practice in certain establishments in the 1800s to modify these for the purchase of, uh... services provided. I have one that's DARK green, which makes me think it's a legit, dug up brothel coin, but I'm not sure there's any way to know for sure if a 170+ year old cent was modified by an actual practitioner or after the fact. Still... love the history!

From my experience you can remove some light corrosion by gently scraping it off with a toothpick. I know all well how it sounds but if done properly it REALLY leaves no mark on the coin.

The difference between "cleaning" and cleaning is if you are changing the original surface or are you just removing the smutz ON the surface. Also, if it is already damaged you can't damage it unless you take it to a grinder or sandpaper.

I have heard some detectorist's talk about using a tumbler but soaking them in water and baking soda helps a little. If there is any inclination that it could be a rare, key date, consult an expert so that you don't damage the coin further.
