Tku so much ...I didn't have the pin in lock, so I was getting so much wasted gritty grinds. Your tutorial has fixed my problem, and now I don't have to send back to the manufacturer...

Niche specifically states in their user manual, "We do not recommend that rice or any other specialist cleaning products are run through the Niche Zero, as this may damage the burrs. The Niche Zero is not designed to be cleaned this way "

Fully agreed! Grindz doesn't do a good enough job.

Some people run regular/instant rice through their grinders as a cleaning agent and I also worry that it's too abrasive. Grindz combined with brushing helps in terms of gathering up most of the oil that's left behind. However, this is just the process that works well for me.

I've used Grindz in my Barista Express for years. I use about half the amount they say and it's more than enough. When clean yellow comes out it's obvious that all coffee residue is removed. It's brown at the start.

Can you use this item to clean the breville barista express built in grinder aswell please ?

Yes you can use this to clean any grinder that you are using. I have been using this for the barista express as well for years.

Would you recommend any food grade grease to help the niche grinder threading?

I have not needed to re-lube the grinder and some online forums do mention that doing so might cause more issues than it's worth, so please take that into consideration. For espresso machine internals I find CRC food grade silicone to work pretty well, so you can look into it. Again, just be mindful since these types of lube tends to darken when it's rubbed, so it might yield some issues. Just my two cents, hope it helps.

@@XICups thank you, didn’t know that. Idk why but every single time I clean my niche the calibration is way off and I end up choking my shots and having to recalibrate.

You probably never need to clean the grinder if you use it regularly. It will always cycle with new espresso beans. It's a different matter if you left it alone months without using it, but there is no evidence whatsoever you can actually tell the difference in taste. Oil does go rancid over time, but if you use it regularly, percentage that gets into your coffee is negligible.
