The National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is the leading voice and resource of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) community. Founded in 1990, NOFAS is the only international non-profit organization committed solely to FASD primary prevention, advocacy and support.
NOFAS seeks to create a global community free of alcohol-exposed pregnancies and a society supportive of individuals already living with FASD. NOFAS effectively increases public awareness and mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities and represents the interests of persons with FASD and their caregivers as the liaison to researchers and policymakers. By ensuring that FASD is broadly recognized as a developmental disability, NOFAS strives to reduce the stigma and improve the quality of life for affected individuals and families.

Nicholas - My daughter Nia is in your class and showed me your video. Thank you for sharing your story - I was very moved by it (that means it made me FEEL a lot). You have a lot of courage - to stand in front of all those people and tell them about your FASD. You are a great role model for all children - to share with the world the good and not so good things about your life - and encourage them to love life no matter what. Thank goodness for your "Nonnie" (I hope I spelled your grandmother's name right). Warmly, Nia's mom.

I have FASD as well. I love to emagen things as well. I usually emagen things in my room or in my head because I am sometimes embarrassed by what I think sometimes. Thanks for sharing your story. I was adopted from Russia at age 2 my birth mom is the one that drank. I get very down about it at times. I just want you to keep up with that positive attitude. God loves you.

You are a fantastic kid!! I think you may have a career in public speaking. 😀. You may have a hard time with certain things, but you have intelligence and a great personality, which many kids lack. So hang in there with your challenges because you are helping many people by being brave and speaking out! And that is a very kind and important thing to do.

There are some things that FAS makes harder but the personality of people with FAS who are well supported and happy seem to be irrepressible.
