hey guys thanks for all the likes, this is my truck, as for the cam its an emissions legal comp grind, 202 208 114 passed with flying colors! intake is fully ported, along with the stock TB, the truck has never seen a flash or any other type of tuning, this was done all on the stock 20# injectors and an adjustable FMU, thats what i keep adjusting under the hood after every pull. at the end of the day i had it maxed and was seeing 125 psi of fuel pressure! @ 5000 rpm it goes way lean 13.6 afr's
Hi ??? I have a 98 Dakota SLT 5.2 magnum also , I was told not to boost cause the stock bolting patern on the cylinder heads won`t hold the boost ,, yours is working good at 16 psi , did you change your heads or is the info I got BS , thanks Bill
This thing is sick. I had to search for it on here after reading about it on the Dakota-Durango forum. I'd like to put 8-10 psi on my 92 w150 just to hear it spool. It's got all 1ton running gear I just didn't know if the 318 could take the abuse but yours is living proof
wow didnt know there were any comments, im using my wifes login lol so no im not a girl. thanks for all the comments, this thing was a frickin blast, pissed off lots of people, this was a stock 318 with EQ castings non ported 2.020/1.625 valves. comp 208 211 .514 .514 112 cam, stock 2000 intake fully ported along with fully ported stock TB. ebay truck headers flipped with a custom cross over pipe i fabbed up at my shop. t72 72mm turbo. stock nv3500 stock 9.25 diff with 3.23 gears.
For the ones that wanna turbo there truck... Best advice is to look up the proper ways to turbocharge it... You'll need to add much more fuel, you don't want it to ping while under boost. Ive had a lot of trial and errors in my life so far... If you do it proper then you'll have a beast..
Stock pistons can handle a good amount of boost. Detonation is what kills them and when that happens the pistons shatter like glass. No detonation and the stockers can put down good power. I'm building a 360 and gonna turbo it. Like this truck awesome setup
Nice truck, I never understand why people hate on the 318 so much. You have proved the 318 is no slouch and getting numbers like some of the strokers i have seen. And if your getting those numbers at 4500-4700 rpm. I can only imagine what a 318 built to make hp to 7000rpm .
i built one NA and had it rpm capped at 5250. he must of modded the shit out of his or else blew his shit those magnum motors are torque monsters not LS motor lol
i ran my 318 stock block and cam, with edelbrock heads and intake, twin 52mm bbk throttle body, msd ignition, tune, cold air, headers custom exhaust cat deleted in a 98 single cab with a 5speed nv3500 at 341 whp 4200rpm and 440tq 2800rpm. my rev limit was capped at 5250rpm very fast i ran it a bit lean and it sounded like a 2 step on the limiter. I could only imagine this.
Been wondering about adding a turbo to my 98 5.2L What kind of upgrades were needed along with this to make it work? Still pretty impressive for a stock bottom end.
Hey eggman59, do you have a video showing the turbo setup? I have a 98 ram 5.2 with the same 5 speed setup and would love to do something similar. The engine was rebuilt and I already did the modified TB. What did you do for the manifold hookup? Any info would be helpful, thanks.
How is it holding together? I know nv3500 is junk because I've been through a couple and hyper pistons suck so these will b addressed on my build but was just wondering how its holding up?
I have a 97 Dakota with a 360 and a 70mm but I don't know much about turbos and can't get mine to run right I'm not makeing anywhere near that psi what can I do
Im curious You say small cam is it a factory or a custom cam, it looks like you still have the stock intake did you do any mods to the the under plate ,and is the tune totally stock with out any flashing mods or add on Thanks
What about the heads man! Are they ported or stock and did you go with different rockers ratio and springs? If you didn't that's fucking impressive numbers your putting down! I have a 67 dart and I'm seriously considering turbo on my 360. If you have any advise to give I'm all ears and appreciate it. Nice sleeper BTW.
Guys Who Do Stuff To answer your question, yes you can. As far as parts you need just search on here and you can get a great list of parts to track down.
Never tuned the ECU. He ran the FMU and larger pump to my knowledge until it finally quit. Made 590whp 600 odd torque at over 17psi. Owner was building a wicked forged 360. Don't know if he ever finished it. That motor had 170k miles of boost... Starting with a low boost non intercooled supercharger. died at 190k. Great build for learning about the magnum V8 potential. Note it had recast heads, and arp studs and gaskets. Otherwise stock bottom end cast crank/hyper pistons
