The reason that MPs are not allowed by Parliament to receive payment for lobbying on behalf of third parties (private companies, foreign states or multinational corporations) is to ensure that they are not subject to undue influence which may impair their ability to objectively judge what is in the public interest for their constituents by whom they have been elected. Johnson and Paterson have chosen to ignore this. Starmer needs to be reminded.
yet there are working class people who constantly chorus the refrain "he(boris) is doing his best". I am sorry to say this boris as prime minister in the UK means that brits love being serfs.
Nick Abbot's list of what an MP gets: the bit where he says they get £4K if they live in London, then says they get an additional £1,450 if they live in London doesn't make sense to me. Be that as it may, the total figure he quotes that an MP gets, £416,955 is a hefty sum. So why does Boris Johnson and one other MP whine about how it's not enough to live on? Furthermore, politics is about service to others, not about self-service & service to vested interests. How is it they've forgotten that?
Because they get into politics so WE can bankroll their retirements. They funnel public money into off shore accounts and lie and lie and lie. Fuck this country
@@yuna1971 I am pretty sure I read a comment to that effect a few weeks ago. It would explain why he hasn't been on for a while as he was a very persistent caller.
If we didn't allow 2nd jobs, maybe posh, greedy people won't want to be Mps & we'll have more working class people instead who will be grateful for what we pay them.
Next distraction, triggering Article 16 of course, monumentally stupid, but that should do the trick. Oh, should have listened to the whole show before posting!
Caller Colin reckons the Government ain’t in a Union , which means according to Colin, the Government can’t be told what to do by a Union , Anybody think Colin was having a go at the EU ?
Nick Great show but last time You contradicted yourself reading out MPs salaries and allowances. And yes of course they're outrageous. Please clarify though.
