I think the songs refers to looking for life's meaning in the contemporary world. The star system and mainstream culture, symbolized by Miley Cyrus-Hannah Montana, seem devoid of meaning. Their concern about nature or the developing countries looks pretentious or fake. Moreover, religion seems also expired. Hence, the missionary suffers from "smallpox and flu" and the preacher cannot bring a new awareness to the ones listening to him. In this context, Rober Johnson's legendary pact with the Devil looks promising - maybe the Devil can give us answers just like he made Robert Johnson such a terrific bluesman according to the legend. However, what permeates the whole song is the Higgs Boson. Maybe plain science and analyzing can give the answers. Nevetheless, this approach can make one lose his/her humanity or his/her soul, since the road of Geneva is ablaze. Moreover, it's on the very road to Geneva where the speaker finds Robert Johnson and the Devil. So is this sticking with science a new pact with the Devil? Can it ever solve life's deepest concerns? One should always keep in mind Nick Cave's quite religious background.

My preferred artists have always something in common: I hate their aesthetics until it creeps under my skin and become part of my life.

Just how does he do it? There is something about Nick Cave's intensity that smoothly transports me to the Higgs boson blues. Now, I know he's just randomly throwing it together, using the most obvious of melodic and lyrical devices. He uses popular catch phrases and terms, stealing them from our personal place of residence, and yet, he makes me believe that this is is his own space. That we're somehow fortunate for being allowed to cross his threshold. That's no mean feat.

I discovered Nick Cave while playing live in the Mijas Costa Festival 2022. The best discovery of this year... to learn about this man for the first time by accidentally attending to one of his concerts. At first, when I arrived to the festival that day and heard his music from the distance, it shocked me that this music style was being played, as the rest of the artists' music style was different. The main performer was The Artic Monkeys. Other artists I knew that went were Chet Faker, Nathy Peluso, Royksopp, Bonobo, The Chemical Brothers and some others, so the music I expected was different to what Nick & his team does. But as I got closer to his stage, his music stunned me. Everything was outstanding, his performance, his chorus, his team, his multi-instrument player wizzard... I was amazed. I could feel everyone feeling the huge and inmense passion infused in the music. The quality was magnificent, and the experience so magical, that no one will ever understand no matter how I explain it. In my opinion, he was the best artist that performed in that festival.

This man elicits such raw emotion and violence and sex in his art that it's timeless.
