We did a 28.5 km (near 18 miles) paddle trip around Rangitoto Island. Nick was paddling his surfski while I was paddling a Riot Edge 14.5 due to my injured knee (tennis...) not allowing me to push my feet against the footplate.

That looked fun. Had to put my plans to get into a ski on hold. Still tossing up between a Spirit PRS 570 and an Epic V7. Alas I'm off driving duties for a while.

@@gadgetman_nz4092 The V7 is more stable and still quite fast! Both have storage which is really great.

@@kayakintro I like the extra length 500mm and lower weight (-4kg) of the Spirit. It has a lower weight capacity of only 110kg compared to the 135 kg of the V7, but barely tipping over 70kg myself I don't see either as an issue. V7 is easier to get hold of and does have two rudders but three times the price. Should do the coin toss. Flick it in the air and choose the one you want it to come down on. Catch the coin and put it in your pocket without looking at it. This would be harder with digital currency. I suppose I could do my usual and get both, the Spirit when I can drive.

@@gadgetman_nz4092The PRS has also more storage than the V7, the whole front deck is also a storage. Just be sure to leash everything because it is easy to lose stuff inside 😂 It is tippy compared to the V7 and I was surprised by its round hull at the beginning but you get used to it quickly! I like its seating position much better than on a V7. With both surfskis they aren’t that easy to carry using the side handles because they are unbalanced and in the heavy side.

@@kayakintro I'm used to 20-30kg kayaks so I don't see either as an issue, but understand the balance problem with the Spirit. I'm not meant to carry over 15kg. I told the surgeon that had zero chance of success to just put in a zip or Velcro when he was finished. Yes, I was at his door just 5 years later. I'll go for the V7 and a drive to the offshore Island when I can drive and the tubs across the strait are proving more reliable for the Spirit. That should cover me for stages 1 & 2 of ski paddling. I really want both.

@@gadgetman_nz4092I am sure you will be fine with the Spirit! The V7 only needs less attention when paddling so it is more relaxing and an excellent surfski for guests who are new to paddling. My wife, who has no problem with sup, had her balance challenged on the Nelo 510 but never on the V7. At ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eF9GqIOFHHc.htmlsi=PTA2H28q1lxGJgcf they are paddling the Spirit so it’s a tough and very capable surfski!!
