Yes! Nickelback gets so much shit, but I genuinely and unironically love them. Can also recommend Side of a Bullet, Edge of a Revolution, Never Again, and If Today Was Your Last Day
Many people think it is cool to hate stuff that goes mainstream. It is stupid. I'm not going to stop eating steak because a lot of people like the taste.
I enjoy most of their old stuff. Not so much their new stuff. Love Edge of a Revolution but when they changed up to a softer, lighter style I didn't enjoy it that much.
There are rap and pop-crap songs that have far worse sexual innuendos in their lyrics and aren't criticized for it. But yet Nickelback do it in some of their songs and people immediately get offended.
I am a young adult but from witch ever position i look at it, im disgusted with the lyrics.I usually like Nickelback songs, but this one is really shameful and demeaning. If i wanted to hear crappy lyrics like that, i'd listen to the "modern music".
best part about this song was it was the opener to their tour. You would see the parents there with their kids since they new the tame songs. Then this opened, parents were fleeing, covering the kids ears. Great show!!!
As posted a lot... Nickelback has 2 other songs about sex... one called S.E.X and the other is Something in your Mouth... once I understood the lyrics to this song I about died laughing tbh
"Driving black on black" meant driving fast and careless, leaving burnt rubber on asphalt. Black rubber on black pavement. Yeah, someone should have warned you this was a hook-up song. Sorry about that. Not family friendly at all.
I 100% that Someday, would be great for your reaction. It's totally opposite of Animal. I like most of Nickelback but they do get a lot of static from many people. 1st song I heard from them was Someday. I enjoy watching your reactions :-)
The line riding black on black is a car culture term it has nothing to do with race at all. It means the cars paint is black and the interior is black.

That's been the ring tone on my phone for a long time now. Nothing better than watching the faces on kids when my phone rings and they realize what song it is and their 55 year old maintenance guy isn't who they thought he was.....lol
Nickleback | Side of a Bullet...it was written as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell from Pantera and for the guitar solo they were able to get samples of old unreleased solos from Dimebag's brother and drummer Vinnie Paul. Really awesome tribute song
Lmao your reaction. Your reaction to sexual lyrics is hilarious. Also I agree with the comment you should definitely listen to shakin’ hands by nickelback.
Nickelback has an entire discography of shock value..."Figured you out" "S.E.X." "Shakin Hands" "Follow You Home"...Just get the song list for the long road home and it should cover most of it...You should also review Saving Abel's The Sex is Good and Addicted...yeah...there are a lot of these songs in the Alternative Rock scene...
Billy Billy, I too am a father of daughter but everytime I hear this it takes me back in time to those some and not so some magical moments in time 35 years ago.
Remember being a teenager, that's the perspective it's written in. It is pretty normal for most teens of the 1980's which is their viewpoint. As a teenager from the 1980's that was pretty on point for my life.
Man you just revealed to me that the lyrics are “I’m driving black on black” !!! I liked it a lot better when I thought they were “driving back in black” all this time I thought it was an AC/DC reference.. lol
Its hilarious but your reaction reminds me so much of my friend of my friend when I showed her this song as well. I couldn't help but laugh even harder at this
I listen to this song with my dad before it sounds like the typical "high school" deal. this song with made 11 years ago I don't hate them because it's a strong word. The songs are good. people today are WAYYY!!! to sensitive. people have bad times in life, but we learn something.
Yeah a lot of their songs aren't radio friendly. But check out If Everyone Cared, Savin Me, When We Stand Together, If Today Was Your Last Day and This Afternoon. Some will make you think, and This Afternoon will make you think of college and or Barracks days hanging out with friends.
Why does everyone pause at that line? "Driving black on black". It means new rubber tires and fresh asphalt. Is this not a common phrase outside the midwest?
I had a 67 Cougar that was Black on Black. And a girlfriend just like this. And yup we were busted by her dad. That being said, dude get over yourself about being black. That's the problem nowadays, it's all about color and it's 99.999999% of the time brought up out of context.
Billy your reactions are killing me LMAO!!!! But I get it, my husband hates this song because we have daughters! But he's a hip hop head and I'm clearly not. I've been listening to this song for so long, since I young enough to get in trouble for listening to it. I LOVE THIS SONG!! Go to for work outs, if I just need to wake up a little bit on my way to work or if I'm ready to get lit.

By “black on black” he means like...imagine if Dom from fast and furious painted his car jet black and put some jet black wheels on it. Just all black everything.
That's right before rappers was talking about getting head while driving. Nickelback was talking about it. It's crazy how rock artists can hide so many dirty things in their lyrics.
