I know maybe its not the same..... but my boyfriend just overdosed and passed away and i hear this song with an entire different perspective. But i respect nicole. Thank you Nicole for helping me heal while i stay here on earth......
also anyone who thinks this song is glorifying dahmer or simping for dahmer lacks media literacy lmao. the message of the song is that she loves people in a dysfunctional way, just like dahmer did. in dahmer's case it was extreme enough that it led him to murder and cannibalism. in nicole's case, clearly it wasn't as extreme since she is not a criminal lol. but it's called poetic liberty.
maybe it’s just part of being a poc, but there’s something painfully agonizing about anyone being capable of sympathizing or even relating with someone like dahmer at all. to fixate on the killer of so many victims is just… I don’t know. it feels the way I feel about this one’s artists artwork. yes it’s beautiful freedom freedom something something, but I can’t help but feel a part of me die when I’m reminded people would rather sympathize or relate with a murderer. honestly idk man, using dahmer to express you’re less severe obsessions with people just is insane to me
@@nug9g oh certainly, like it’s definitely an abrasive choice of metaphor and i think it’s controversial to say the least. i personally think it wasn’t in good taste for her to use an actual serial killer for her metaphor, like she could have used a well-known fictional one and the song would have worked as well. she uses jeffrey dahmer as a poetic device and fictional character despite the fact he was a real person who did unspeakable things to a vulnerable community of people. so while i personally don’t feel offended by the song, i understand and respect your right to be. EDIT; and i also don’t think that her sympathizing with or relating to some level of jeffrey dahmer’s experience, is portrayed as a positive thing in the song. the tone is “i am a fundamentally broken person for relating to a serial killer on any level.”

Wow…what a find. Such a pretty voice. Interesting subject matter too. not many want to deal with Dahmer. The closest is Rammstein and what was a different situation.

Shit, this song is so pretty but so haunting. The lyrics is just so dark and horrible, not to mention if you know what Dahmer did to his victims it makes it even more horrendous. The only thing I hope is that the victims is in a better place, with no suffering and that their families will live happily despite everything. I'm not religious but I hope that Dahmer is rotting in hell.

I hope that doesn’t happen either. Katy’s case makes a bit more sense. But I feel like Nicole is rather retelling the story of Jeffrey’s case in song form instead of solely mentioning him out of nowhere.
It's not glorifying what he did or saying it was good, it's a song about obsession. Nichole makes many songs about many terrible things but that doesn't mean she's glorifying them, in all honesty it's usually the opposite. Portraying them in all of their horrific reality
