Hey I'm glad I came across this video. And it was nice seeing you after all these years. We went to High School together was on the same Basketball team. Go Dorsey Dons
Question my husband was offered a better job so we are moving 2 states away from friends and family we have 3 small children and are quite nervous... Any advice on how you managed to be alone in another state without your family there? born and raised in fl so big change for me Also any advice on renting first then buying later on once we know the area.. The company wants him to start very soon so we dont have time to really feel out the area. We know its a safe area but we dont know much else. we were thinking on renting for a yr or so then buying. What would you suggest?
Thanks for the video. Very informative. I am retiring from the Army next couple years. How far out did you buy the place in Texas before you moved and how did you go about doing that?
This was soooo helpful! I am not making a huge move but this is very invaluable information that is timeless! I'll be moving from my parents house in Michigan to attend graduate school in Indiana. Then hopefully I'll be moving from Indiana to Tennessee after obtaining my degree. It's just me and I don't own many things but I know I'll need to obtaining furniture for my apartment in Indiana. Would you recommend purchasing furniture before or after the move?
So sorry I’m just seeing this and didn’t respond! You may have made many moves sense this but I say buy after to save money on expenses to move furniture
Thanks for the tips! But why did you have to have your cars shipped only 2 states over? You couldnt make arrangements to drive them or have family drive them?
I am also relocating to TX. I am looking at container services for my move. Most of these services have really bad Internet reviews. How was your experience with Pack Rat? How long did it take them to deliver your items and was everything there when u got it? Did they try to up the fee in any way during shipment?
So late with responding as I’m just seeing these questions but it was okay. I didn’t plan for a 2-3 week time frame to get our furniture but it went well
everybody don't have that type of income or lux. if you want to move just move and figure some things out late. dont let this video distract you from moving.
A lot of these expenses could have been avoided if you did a lot of the work yourselves and rent your own truck. Knowing how to fix your own vehicles helps tremendously as well.
I'm caring for Mom here in NYC but when she passes I plan to leave this expensive loud son of a gun. I will miss it but financially it's just astronomical!
+cameleon Girl You got that right. I'm living in NYC and in a small two bedroom apartment. The cost is freaking unbelievable. My lease is up in Nov. 2016 and I will not be renewing. I will be relocating out of state. Preferably to Charlotte or Raleigh. Just maybe Atlanta. I have to see what is more financially friendly to me.
+B Loveable I completely concur I live in Clinton Hill. God willing and my research I am relocating to Charlotte. And talking to ppl that have lived there and suggestions on what part of town that I want to meet my lifestyle. All the best in your options.
B Loveable update: my mom passed away in nov of 2014 And I'm still here. I decided to get a roommate off of craigslist. Wasso scared but its working out. She is lovely and I'm haning in as long as posible
Her daughter passed out in the back was cracking me up. That girls was knocked out with her head tilted aback and everything! Lol But anyway, good tips though. I have had a very hard time in the past with my moves because I did not do a lot of the things she's talking about. This video was helpful.
