The EU is a disaster. You have Norway having trouble with Denmark when it comes to trading salmon, pork and potatos. Norway and DK have always been friends and the EU fucks it all up.

All political parties have racists hidden within their party; if UKIP were indeed racist then I wouldn't vote for them. However, Nigel Farage is a strong advocate of educated and qualified British Commonwealth citizens, whatever their skin colour, receiving priority over white eastern Europeans when it comes to moving to the UK. He has clearly stated on many occasions that it's quality over quantity. He recently said on TV that professionals from India and the Caribbean who can contribute to this country's economy should be given preference over eastern Europeans. One of the reasons I'm voting UKIP is so that we can get uncontrolled (white) eastern European immigration back under control.

then why is he cornering the gov't on allowing students here on visa to study in the UK?
@MrRedcarpet02
@MrRedcarpet02 9 лет назад
autofreak7 Because that is a tactic used as a backdoor for illegal immigration. A large number of people on student visas 'dissapeared'' after arriving into the UK & the paper trail ends. So obviously that system needs a huge overhaul.

***** "they are at best, exaggerated torys, which is the last thing this country needs." Said like someone who doesn't understand politics. They're more like a cross between 1970's Labour and 1990's torys, with the anti-Eu vibe of both of those eras combining.

***** "In what way is cutting public services, increasing foreign defense spending, massive tax cuts for the rich and giving banker less regulation in anyway similar to 70's Labour?" Said like someone who is deliberately leaving out the 90s conservative part of the quote. In addition to misrepresenting me, you've also misrepresented UKIPs policies. Ask yourself a question. Why do you think making a strawman makes your position better? Are you really just lying to yourself? Maybe you should re-consider your arguments, because this is just pathetic.

well our country has been stolen from under our feet since we joined what was just meant to be a open market then our political elite gave away powers from london to brussels to the point that we cant even govern the country problem is this lack of unable to govern is just causing more problems and the political elite is unable to see that thats why people are saying enough is enough i do not agree with everything they say but the way i see it the other main three are just sellling us out and yer that's a part of the problem if you start setting limits on who should be in government you will just get people from rich background going the middle class and poor dont get a voice i think it should be rich/middle/poor getting a fair chance on a pure vote system on who would do the best job democracy is a good idea but not when its done based on class we are the same cant remember the amount but to much for the everyday working man and woman

He's libertarian, an idea lost in british politics. It means the state should take a minimalist role in the lives of the people and the people should be able to live how they like, with personal liberty, provided their lifestyle does not hurt the lives of others. It's not a right wing or left wing philosophy, it's a completely different ideal that so far has not been tested and is unknown in our politics.

Sounds like Nigel wanted to avoid answering that gay marriage question. To be honest I don't see why anyone would want to get married and if UKIP want to keep it a religious thing that's fine by me. Also it's too bad UKIP doesn't support Nigel on drug liberalisation, the war is so stupid. I don't like UKIPs policy on crime either. Just talks about being tough and showing zero tolerance. We don't need to boost the prison population, community service costs a whole lot less money and is a more fitting punishment for less serious non-violent offenders. For those that do go to prison it should be about work, education and rehabilitation. This is one of things Lib Dems got right.

Because UKIP's members, voters and candidates are mostly old, socially conservative, less educated people their views on those issues are pretty backward. It's bizarre that people like Farage and Douglas Carswell are on some issues libertarian when that's the opposite of what their supporters want.

I disagree with Nigel on gay marriage, we won't be forcing faiths to marry people they don't want to, because there are already faiths out there who want to. Gay Marriage is already accepted socially and morally, but the one thing missing is that we want it to be acknowledged as a legal concept. It's not marriage, it's gay marriage.

Juan de Neponucemo Muñoz de Salazar You are completely right. However, I would say that UKIP and the Conservatives are not as identical as you think. I like to think of them as two brothers who were split at birth and moved to different countries: they have the same genes and the same history (in many ways) but they speak differently, have different cultural views, think of society in different ways, and identify with different priorities.

***** True. Labour are a decaying husk of the party they used to be. The Liberal Democrats offer a reasonable if somewhat flaccid ideology. I would trust them more if I thought they could get a majority government and deliver but as we've seen, they're pretty useless in coalition. The Greens seem like the best choice to me. They are perhaps a little too environment focused but they're the only major party that offers a real alternative as I see it.

The one benefit of being part of the EU is a lack of tax on European imports. As it stands, the UK makes nothing anymore. If we left the EU over-night, many products would increase in price for both manufacturers and consumers. It doesn't help that Tories are selling off even more of the public sector. UKIP is certainly a lesser of 3 evils, but i'm not convinced on the immigration policies. Bounders and boundaries shouldn't exist in 2013. Why we still have national flags is beyond me.

"The UK makes nothing anymore"? We are 1 of the top 3 in aerospace, ditto pharmaceuticals, and car exports are at an all-time high. And UKIP's views on immigration are common sense-a ban on permanent immigration while the situation is reviewed, and any wanting to come here should have a grasp of English and skills this country needs. We already have a surplus of the unskilled and unemployed. You want no borders? So anyone can just walk in and live off the taxpayer? No thanks, that's the EU way.

There's discrimination against competent females, that's a fact. And overall there's manipulation of women for political and geopolitical purposes, across all nations, and it's independent of 'civilization' status (1st, 2d, 3d, etc world classification). That's another fact. The real problems are: the predatory economic model, the migration of power toward extreme monopoly to maybe compensate for the deficient economy model and as substitute for money value, and the failure of political models for the world society we have now. The many laws accumulated over time make it worst.
@TM-qz8mg

So any female that gets to attain real power, not the mannequin type, should aim to reform THAT. My solution: maintenance of billions of jobs, real economic justice via wealth redistribution and earned money rather than charity to make a stable and productive society that competes by straight forward rules. NO TO MANIPULATION disguised as cultural or ethnical differences.

***** No! Because many Scots could see that leaving one union (The UK) for another union (The EU) is not independence!

"Putting a heroin addict in prison" Answer me this, if you decide to start smoking or take crystal meth is it your fault and are you responsible or is it societies fault? The problem has been identified as drugs. Now the solution is either we fight it or we let it be. My question is simply this, if we legalize drugs would it be morally wrong to introduce a 4 year old to Heroin? Now we can do something about it, alternative is that we cant do anything about it.
@theoneheretosty
@theoneheretosty 11 лет назад
I think you have the wrong idea of prisons. The prisons are meant to deter you from doing something that is accepted to be wrong. We do not criminalize drunk drivers in order to throw them into jail we do it to discourage them from drinking and driving. Initially you will have to throw people into jail to show that you actually mean what you say.

"after all the prison system is the last real growth industry we have" Let me repeat my previous point to someone here. The reason we criminalize drunk drivers is not to throw drunk drivers to jail it is to prevent drunk drivers from driving while drunk. Initially you will have to throw a few to jail to show that you mean it but ultimately it is used to deter people from using drugs. This is much cheaper than creating a new problem the size of the alcohol and cigarette problem we have now.

Drugs aren't bad, the people taking the drugs are. Period, it take's a level head to take drugs and benefit, something society simply does not understand. Because to a person who can handle it, drugs are beneficial.

"You're suggesting locking up people who experiment with drugs" Deter people with tough punishments, it will be their choice if they want to go to jail or not. Just because many people do something wrong doesn't mean the solution is to leave them to it.

Decriminalizing the drugs will destroy the criminal drug trade, drugs are only profitable because it is illegal, if heroin was legal today would you take it or others of course not, as individuals we are more than capable of looking after our own bodies

So, I'm OK,provided that I agree with you. You are accusing me of 'hatred', when in fact if you knew me you would know that I have never 'hated' anyone. It is possible to dislike and disagree with someone without wishing them any ill-will. You see, the reason that I disagree with gay marriage is not because of any 'hatred' of gay people, but simply because I am convinced of the biblical teaching that it is not allowing Man to fulfill the purpose for which he was created.

it makes a change to see and hear the interviewer ask Nigel questions that are fundamental to his parties belief structures,instead of script written demonising questions which are fully intended to derail and antagonise his persona. Nice one Nigel and plz keep up the good work. ps PLEASE lets see and hear more from your cabinet. Sincerely JF

Because I don't agree with something doesn't make me 'phobic'. I don't like smoking but that doesn't mean that I have a phobia. I do not agree with Islam as I am a Christian, but that does not mean that I am 'Islamophobic' Likewise, I do not agree with gay marriage, but I have a right to express that view without being branded as 'homophobic'. I do not have a fear of either of these things, just disagree with them. You have a right to your views, but should use correct words to express them

Psychodelic drugs should be legalized. There is zero reason to have them illegal. Alcohol is one of the most harmful drugs out there yet legal. LSD has never killed anyone. The only reason people are against the legalization is because they don't know anything about those substances. It would make tons of money too.

"Right now there are parents who introduce alcohol to their children if drugs were legal how would you stop them?" Family, friends, the close community? (oh right what community) it should not be up to government to deal with these affairs. Listen you can easily protect the child even if the drugs were legal, because anyone would realize that would be child abuse.

Who mentioned black people? As far as I'm aware, no religion denies black people the right to marry, so this is a bad analogy. As far as the Bible is concerned, I choose to believe it having read it, and would be very interested to know if you have read it. Maybe you are afraid that if you do read it, you may actually start to believe some of the 'trash', and like myself, will maybe start considering where your own life falls short.

" decriminalizing drugs will have enormous" For who? What makes you think if you take something that was accepted to be wrong and call it right that the problem will be solved? The main aim is to get people to use drugs less or dont you agree? "making something illegal glamorizes it." If the penalty was 35 years in jail with hard labor how many people do you think would risk it? "heroin though for life" Who is responsible for taking drugs is it the individual or the drug dealers fault?

9:45 A way to ensure this does not happen would be legalizing humanist marriage ceremonies; you can have gay marriage or civil partnerships and there is absolutely no need to force this upon to theists.
