Se o Jay-Jay Okocha soubesse finalizar, a Nigéria ia dar muito trabalho na Copa de 98. O cara era muito habilidoso, mas faltava a ele habilidade pra finalizar as jogadas.
Apparently, except for about 3 or 4 players, the majority of the players were out partying the night prior till late hours. They thought Denmark was a walkover. You can see it from the lethargic defence; the players could not run and were just too slow to react every time. Notwithstanding, Denmark played excellent football.
As a Ghanaian and in my second year of my HND in 1998 I watched this match on a broad screen at Vision 66 Cinema in Tema Community 8 Ghana and I can say that the Danish people had clearly outplayed the "Powerful Nigerians". The late Yekini Rasheed was nowhere to be found, completely lost in the game. 😅😅😅😅
Don't be cynical. After all ur Ghana was no where at that time.Yekini came in as a substitute.he was benched by victor ikpeba. He spent less than 20 mins in the game. Were u expecting him to do magic after the damage had been done?
It is very hard to choose one World Cup against other ones; but I would choose the best World Cup as the one that had "the save of the century": Bank's magnificent save against Pele "the game of the century": Italy v. Germany and "the best international team of the century": Brazil By the way, I am a Holland fan, was only 7 years old in 1970 ( didn't watch the games on TV back then), and those picks are not exclusively my personal choices, but according to "World Soccer" international monthly magazine.
In my own opinion rufai did an excellent job. What killed nigeria was lack of coodination and not rugged or ruff enough. They probably took this match on a easy mode.
Kanu and Oliseh were taken completely out of the match. Denmark who tied South Africa 1-1 in group stages, beat Nigeria 4 - 1. I think we must have sold that match. Because this loss is still an unsolved mystery till this very day.
