Thank you for this. Night and Fog along with Come and See and The Zone of Interest opened my eyes to how absolutely atrocious the nazi’s actions genuinely were. I feel that a lot of popular culture has dampened what the nazis were actually like. I’m glad there is still art like this that shines a light on the complacency and explicit actions they took part in and as you said, this needs to be seen by everyone so that we can see where history is repeating itself and have a conscience of those suffering from atrocities and hopefully make some change even if small.

An excellent video, and you did well in highlighting how its subject matter connects to today's world. I think the importance of Resnais' film is not the film itself, which is competent enough despite the later making of other better documentaries like 'Shoah', but its coming out at the time when it did. At that time Germany was in full denial of the atrocity, hence the political opposition to the film; then Germans in the 70s and 80s would pass through an indulgent wave of guilt where the previous generation was blamed but nothing substantial was learned. Now we're in the third phase of German's psychosis, an utter perversion of the meaning of the Shoah where crimes are justified in its very name, and people protesting at the murder of innocents are slurred and criminalized as anti-semitic, even Jewish human-rights protestors. [I hope the use of actual words rather than euphemisms doesn't get your video tagged by YT robo-censorship. I tried to avoid direct language but some things require the actual words to be said.]
