If you'll allow me to vent for a moment, I come back to listen to this video alot. I was in a really bad place when I first heard this, I had no job, I dropped out of school, held alot of hatred for myself and I just..existed. I'd listen to this while playing games I loved at the time and this always sends me back to those days. While I miss the freedom and simplicity of just waking up and doing what I liked everyday, I'm in a much better place mentally today. I got my GED now and have a part time job I'm about to hit my one year mark with. I have no idea if anyone will see this, I honestly doubt it, but thank you for acting as a way to send me back and think about how far I've gotten. Thank you for existing.

I lost my dad a year ago right before I turned 18, it was sudden, painless, he died in his sleep from a condition of the heart. None of us saw it coming, he was fine the night before, chatting and talking about what he was gonna do that week, the last thing he said to me was that he loved me and he was gonna teach me some driving skills that next day, I was busy playing my game, I told him good night and that I loved him without getting up or even looking at him, he went to bed and when I woke up he was gone. Now at 19, almost 2 years without him, I still feel the ache in my chest, the gust of air that left my lungs when we found him, the tears that stained my eyes for days, the numb feeling in my fingertips. I lost my best friend that day, but I still carry the importance of love that he instilled in me, all the acts of kindness and selflessness he showed, the way he treated my mother, completely and utterly loving people unconditionally. I am truly blessed to have been raised by a man like him. I know this is pretty long and a lot of people haven't even read it bUT HEY YOU DID AND THATS COOL! Even if you've lost the people that mean the most to you, they're always there, even if you can't feel it sometimes, their memories, passions, dreams, they rest in you. Have a blessed day my doodz ~ Update ~ By the 20th of August, 2020 it'll have been exactly two years since my dad's death. These two years have been a a trail mix of sorrow, growing pains, and love. The pain of my father not being here and having that fact settle in, the moments of seeing something of his or something he might enjoy and having those memories of what was or what could have been. I miss being fathered, having a figure I could go to when needing advice or help, the feeling of growing up without him and knowing my siblings feel the same as their children grow up not knowing the amazing man that shaped our lives and the lives of everyone he knew. With all things said, the pains, frustrations, not knowing what the hell I'm doing, comes love. This beautiful and powerful thing, so mysterious but utterly breath taking and bold; that was who my father was, and who I want to be. He embodied what it means to love someone unconditionality. He taught me so much and from him I learned how to love (even if its just a smidge), and while I'm not anywhere near the bar he set, I know that the unconditional love he had rests with me and my family, and each of us carries a bit of the love he cultivated. I remember about 2 years ago, I had washed up on the shores of this video after browsing about lofi related collections and compilations.I was 15, and I hated myself for who i was. I also saw a friend end his life a year or 2 prior. I was messed up. I listened to this video every night for about a year. The community this video brought me into helped me so much to realize my self-worth. Though times have still been rough, I am so glad I made the choice to ride it out. I now have a wonderful boyfriend, a job, and multiple offers to universities that will propel me and my skills in Computwe Science going forward. To anyone out there struggling, know that things will never be perfect, but they will get better. Have an amazing day or night ❤

Since everyone's writing their thoughts... Yeah I'm stressed about online school in 2020; but I also feel like the things they try to teach us are usually wrong. Like how rain is supposed to represent sadness. For me, rain makes me happy. It's the sunny days that tell you: "Hey, You need to get up and do something productive, look how much of a perfect day it is today!" and that, to me, is sadder than rain, which at least listens to you. Just listen to yourself and never let someone else tell you how to feel :P.

I had a small realization while i was lying down, listening to this mix. Like many people here I have experienced depression and am on my long long journey to recovery. I'm doing pretty good, actually, and I'm so proud of myself for it. I'm almost there. But as time goes by I discover more and more little places where depression has left it's trail. Maybe I'm not in that dark place anymore, I'm learning to eat properly and form connections. I'm not sad or hateful. I'm mostly at peace with myself now. But tonight I realized, that to a certain extent, I still live my days like I used to when I was depressed. Not consciously, more like in the flow of my habits. I spend more time alone than I should. I distract myself with things like games and videos. Rushing through the day like I used to, when I was afraid of my own thoughts and tried to fight them off. What a shame and a waste. I am wasting my borrowed, precious time. A few years ago this thought would warrant rather unseemly thoughts. But now, I kindly tell myself, that I never knew better, that I will do my best and do my best in some more things than I used to. I will try to put more care and thought into my day to day, because that's what our lives are, really. Just a day. And it's so sad to sleepwalk through it. So I will try to treasure mine more than I did the day before.

I’ve decided to take a listen to this while heading to bed (11pm) I felt bad after a trip lately (diarrhea, headache, throwing up, etc) and had to stay in bed most of the day. So listening to such soothing music while reading the supportive comments in my blanket made me genuinely cry of joy and feel better… It makes me want to listen more to Lofi Hip Hop in the future. After reading a couple of comments (in my attempt to fall back asleep), I saw many stories about people's lives, so I thought might as well share one. Though it is short in the beginning, it tends to just get longer. Around 2005, a baby girl was born and so was a baby boy. The boy's lungs had collapse and therefore ended up killing part of his brain. This, caused him to have a lifetime condition.. epilepsy, starting only at the age of 2. His twin sister seemed to be overall healthy, and it stayed like that for a long while. The twins were later diagnosed with ADD and ADHD (The boy had ADHD and the girl ADD) but neither had medications for it, the girl was also diagnosed with dyslexia. Around 2016, the grandmother felt a lump on the girl's throat and begged her mother to have to go to the doctor. When they did, after some blood work, it was found out that the girl had Hypothyroidism and was put on a small pill for that. The girl hated taking a daily medication and in the beginning, often didn't take it. This was only the beginning. After a few years, as she grew up, she started to actually take the pill without forgetting. Around 2017-2018, she met a few people online because she didn't have many friends. She was scared to have them know who she was so she was under a fake name.. She pretended to be a boy, and it felt nice to be called "Matthew" and when they used "he/him" pronouns.. In 2018, he came out to them and said that he was trans, ftm. They accepted him and have always been there. Now the girl was boy. At the end of 2018, he started to feel pain in all of his joints.. His hands, knees, shoulders, everything. It got to the point where he could not even raise his own arm in class, it hurt to walk. He'd cry himself to sleep because of the pain. He was taken to the doctor, where tests were made. It was discovered that he has lupus, a immune system disease where the body attacks itself.. He was then given more and more medications.. In the beginning of 2019, he came out to his family as trans, they also accepted him. He dealt fine for a few years, taking his meds, going to doctors.. Until 2020. Late 2020, he started experiencing horrible and painful headaches.. They lasted weeks, and had gotten so bad, he could barely do his online classes. His mom thought nothing of it until he explained that he was losing time.. He thought he had passed out in one of his classes and when he went back to the recording.. He was talking, answering questions but he couldn't remember any of it. She took him to the doctor and they were I'm going to put him on migraine medicine first however, his lupus doctor wanted an MRI. After the MRI, it showed that he had a blood clot in his brain.. It was just below big enough to restrict blood flow. He was then put on a blood thinner, in the form of a small pill. This did not work because not even two weeks later, he was in ER for trouble breathing, they did a CT Scan and found out his had two more blood clots in Hus lungs. They took him off the pill and started him on a shot that had to be taken twice a day. These shots caused bruising all over his stomach and arms. Oh, but we are not done. In the middle of 2021, he was drinking around four bottles of water one night but couldn't seem to stop. He told his mother, who is diabetic, and she took his blood sugar.. He was at 386 (and when they checked his urine in the ER, it was told that it was around 500, they wanted him to stay at the hospital but by then, he was already back at home).. She immediately took him to the ER and yet again, more tests. It was found out that one of his medication for his lupus could cause high blood sugar but it was very unlikely (of course with his luck..). He was yet again put on a new medication and insulin. At this point, he has grown numb to everything, just doctor visit after doctor visit. The diabetes medicine made him very sick, he'd take it with food as directed but would always end up puking. His mother couldn't bare to watch her son get sicker with the medication so she called his doctor and requested that he'd stop talking the pill and only use the insulin as insulin didn't have side effects. They agreed and it worked well. Now, he's doing a little better. Sometimes, he can't sleep at night but he tries to. He only has few friends and mostly stays to himself now. He's smart and determined, trying his best to stay an honours student even though he misses one or two days of school every week. He tries to make everyone around him happy because he's hurting. He has little to no free time due to missing school work. His cat (of four years) often has to remind him to go sleep, or to at least lay down in bed with her. He struggles to find happiness, he often looks for it in others. On September 8, his eldest dog (of 11 years) was put down. The night before, he was laying with the dog, brushing out his undercoat.. He knew it would be his time, the dog wouldn't eat anymore and barely could get up on his own.. The boy got up and explained to his mother in tears that their beloved Mojo couldn't do it anymore. And on September 8th, they took final pictures with him before going go the clinic. They gave him some bacon and a cup of whipped cream from Dunkin' Donuts. He still doesn't know how to feel when he wakes up and goes up stairs to see a large empty bed. This story.. Is mine. I am Matthew and I am still trying. It took me around 30+ minutes to write this and, man, remembering everything made me cry. Also, my wrists hurt from holding my phone up. Thank you for reading and good night.

Okay mine, too. Here's my vent: Just because we live in a house does not mean we're actually home. Is it selfish to wanna run away from the toxic people you live with? I think not. When I couldn't find silence and peace, I would listen to lo-fi to drown out the noises, criticism, judgment from those I care about, being misunderstood, and dirtied---all of which used to trigger my depression and anxiety. This playlist right here calms me. Damn, I didn't even know home is not a place. It could be music that soothes your pain. However, it is also realizing we have the power to turn our brain to become our best friend when we thought it was the enemy. So please---be kind to yourself ('cause no else will). Home is within.
