MechaDan The only anaglyph 3D glasses I own are the ones that are included with my DVD copy of Friday the 13th Part III. I used to have my pair from when I went to see Spy Kids 3-D in theatres.
So true, Phelous. Guns in games are NOTHING like in real life. I remember the first time I used a shotgun, felt like I got punched in the shoulder by a pro boxer.
ilikethecokev2 yep, and they have a much larger effective range as well, unlike in most video games, where the shotgun has an effective range of about 4 feet.
Joshua thankfully, recoil dampening is a thing these days. Most AR type rifles can be equipped with recoil dampening which makes it so the recoil doesn't knock most of your fillings loose, only some of them. Still no word on recoil dampening for shotguns and pistols though.
When I first watched this review, I thought that what they were going for with the original movie playing on TV with the characters acknowledging it was that it would be something like the Journey to the Center of the Earth adaptation from a few years ago where the original source material becomes a plot point, but nope, it's just a stupid reference that they think would be something cute to add in.
The whole bit with the explanation of the zombies in this one kind of sounds cool with the resident evil stock footage. Phelous turned the movie into an interview with an ex umbrella employee describing his work in the "Dead factory" from re3 lol.
I had a great-uncle who everyone referred to as Junior for as long as I can remember. Then, at a family Christmas party he got angry & yelled that his name was James & that he’d never been a “Junior” in his life. He was as pointless as Sid, here, & we still called him Junior.
Just FYI, there have been at least 2 cases of crematory owners keeping over 100 bodies and not cremating them, keeping them in exterior buildings, abandoned cars, ditches, the woods around the area. The movie is still very stupid, but THAT plot point wasn't entirely stupid.
I know, right? :D And I see how this version that you reviewed really sucks! lol Anyways, I thought I can ask if you can do some reviews from my request if that's all right.
Captain Spaul--err, Junior sounds like the owners of a real crematory in northern Georgia that made the news a few years back. Here it is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tri-State_Crematory

I don't throw the phrase "one of the worst movies I've ever seen" around lightly... but this flick earned it.
He was the judge in Jackie Brown. He's a good actor but Rob Zombie is such a hack. Have you seen that clip of John Carpenter calling Rob Zombie a piece of shit? Its awesome
Yea i know he's not trying to win an Oscar or anything. I mean he has fans who think his movies are good, they just aren't for me, and I love 70's and 80's exploitation and horror, especially Italian ones like Cannibal Holocaust and the New York Ripper, stuff like that. Carpenter was doing a Q and A at some convention and a woman in the audience asked him what his thoughts were on Zombie's remake of Halloween, and Carpenter talked about it, and then mentioned that Rob Zombie lied about him in the press, and John called him a piece of shit. Its on RU-vid. I think if you search "John Carpenter calling Rob Zombie a piece of shit" or something it should pop up. Maybe since then they have buried the hatchet, but I haven't heard if they did or not.
Yea, thats why I don't really care for his movies. Most of the characters are kind of one dimensional, they are almost carbon copies of one another. Especially in the Halloween remake, every character is a scumbag. Maybe it was his intention to get the audience to root for Michael Myers, but they all are just assholes. As for the rest of his movies that I've seen, I just don't like his style. I know he's trying to capture the aesthetic and feel of the late 70s/early 80s horror but I just can't get into them. Here is that clip of John Carpenter talking about the Halloween remake if you want to see it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uVYs5Y_EqSc.html
as stupid as the "things and stuff" explanation for the zombie outbreak was, I think the mortuary idea had some potential. say they left out the line about medical remains from experiments likely being the cause and instead, subtly hinted at the idea that the morgue was the first spot to be affected because of the overwhelming presence of evil deeds committed, which in turn, is implied to be the true cause of the outbreak. going for sort of a take off the "when there's no more room in hell" thing from dawn.
Oh my god Phelous...as bad as this movie is, the recent Night of the Living Dead Darkest Dawn is infinitely worse. Remember that CG NotLD: Origins movie they announced about 5-6 years ago? It finally came out under the Darkest Dawn name, and it stars Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, Danielle Harris, Joe Pilato and Tom Sizemore. That's an amazing cast of horror veterans, but guess what? They wasted all of their talent, as it's a very poorly rendered CGI film with phoned in (literally at one point) performances, stock sound effects (all the famous screams from Wilhelm to Howie Long, and the CEREBUS NOISES FROM RE!) and an overabundance of film grain, random color tints, and various other Movie Maker effects. You can find the trailer on RU-vid, but just imagine someone taking the cinematics from Clock Tower on PSX, dubbing over the characters with famous horror actors, using every public domain sound effect ever during important scenes, and slapping random Movie Maker effects on random scenes without artistic merit or context. Then again, NOT recommending this movie to someone is like NOT recommending A Serbian Film. I know they'll watch it anyway due to morbid curiosity, and it'll have a negative effect on those I suggest it to, but I can't help myself. So. Yeah. DON'T watch it....Wink.
The 1990 remake was my favorite, I liked it even more than the original, specially because of how badass they made Barbara unlike the annoying burden she was in the original.
+CaptainJZH Yeah, but that was speculation within the movie and never really given a second thought. In this film, they really do put emphasis on the... things to be the cause.
I haven't seen this "remake" of the original film, (the other remake of the original is very good though) but I'd say Sid Haig is maybe the best part of the film.
I actually watched this one completely by accident, thinking that it was something else. Somehow, I managed to watch through the whole thing, and yeah... bad...
10:03 Except the original wasn’t really ambiguous, given the whole “satellite containing unknown radioactive substance was destroyed by NASA spraying said substance across America” explanation.
Line: "Why is this happening?", asked despairingly from a place of hopelessness and confusion. Line Read: "Why is this happening?", asked casually from a place of mild curiosity while hanging with friends.
They should've made it even more horrific than the Tom Savini version. No one is afraid, the dead just stand there, and they can't bite. You destroy them by looking at them angrily.
I wouldn't encourage it, but if I somehow managed to get the rights to Romero's Night, Dawn, and Day of the Dead, I would remake the entire trilogy as a tribute to George A. Romero. One of the things I'd do is to have each film connect to the other. However, I'd have Day of the Dead take place a few years after Dawn of the Dead, when the Zombies have taken over the planet. With Day of the Dead, I would adhere to Romero's original idea, which was to create a shanty town above an underground military base. Tom Savini calls the original script "the Ben-Hur of zombie movies" because if you're gonna remake Day of the Dead and you have a substantial budget, wouldn't it be better to adapt Romero's original version? In my version of Night of the Living Dead, I would pretty much blend aspects of the original and 90s remake; Barbra would be a proactive character after dealing with her Zombie encounter and the death of her brother. Barbra also shoots Mr. Cooper during a fight with Ben, and Ben suffers a serious injury and gradually bleeds out as he and Barbra try to make it to the Highway. Ben is shot by the leader of the Biker gang that shows up in Dawn, and tries to take Barbra as their play thing, though she manages to get away when a group of Zombies swarm the road, but they still live and Barbra is saved by a mix of Police officers, National Guard, and Rednecks. Dawn of the Dead remake would be pretty faithful to the original, like having a pregnant TV producer lady, Helicopter pilot, and two SWAT guys, that managed to survive their ordeal in escaping the city. Though the variations I'd include are a few more survivors that manage to make it to their Mall, like a Mother with her Teenage son and daughter, and a Farmer with his wife that helped the mother make it to the Mall, and have a moment where our main characters make a decision to either let them in the Mall or turn them away, but they end up letting them in after Francine convinces them it's wrong and they could use extra guns to keep this place fortified. Also, like the Original, the Biker gang shows up to snatch up what they can from the Mall, while causing Chaos, mainly shooting up the place and killing Zombies they let into the Mall. However, the mother of the teens and the Farmer were shot, and sadly the teen daughter was captured by the Bikers, and the film ends with Peter, Francine, The farmer's wife, and the Teenage son left in the Helicopter, promising they'll save his sister. Leaving the movie on a somewhat of a sober ending. However, this promising was left unresolve due to the 2-3 year time skip to Day of the Dead. So, yeah thoughts so far? and if anyone asks about Day of the Dead I'll happily answer it in a reply.
The stupid of this movie makes my brain hurt. :) However I will say the story about the guy hiding bodies instead of cremating them actually happened. It was a lot of bodies but I don't think it was a hundred and I think he had them out in a field behind his place or something.
Yeah, what's really good about this one was how it would zig when the original zagged. Like in the graveyard when you think that guy is going to be a zombie but it's just a guy who had been attacked by zombies. Also, the bit where they re-instated Barbara as the hero of the movie.
4:48 Hell, I'd rather play DOOM multiple times than watch this movie once. too bad we never see her play it cause that would of been more interesting than what the audience is exposed to in this movie. if you want a better remake of NOTLD that was actually done well in both plot & characters, then go watch the Tom Savini remake instead.
@@JustinJTime this is very true. hell, even the 2005 Doom movie is better than this film. and I honestly think the 2005 Doom film is actually not that bad, especially compared to Doom Annihilation. at least with Doom 2005, you get some surprisingly good practical effects, the guns & the demons represented the designs from Doom 3, the visuals at times are night, the soundtrack is not too shabby, the FPS sequence is memorable, and aside from The Rock's hammy acting, at least Karl Urban is always awesome.
there's other Night of the Living Dead faithful remake release in the 90's, this version looks like fanmade, and the acting seems unconvincing, it's like they know they are not in some kind of danger and pretend not know what to do
Why are the zombies decaying soo fast in the original they didn't look like that at all I think only in either Day or Dawn do they actually look decayed in anyway in Night they looked like dirty human beings.
Is that... Is that Captain Spaulding? Haha ok, he's officially the best part of the movie. This looks like a freaking terrible movie. I didn't know it existed and now I do, thanks Phelous! (But seriously love your reviews :D)
muzicrox What's really funny is I rented it at this place I used to go to and, I kid you not, it had "Night of the LIving Dead 3D" in big print then a small sticker on it that said 2D version. It was like they thought 3D was a major selling point and were trying a bait and switch or something. :)
I didnt know there was another version of this one. I saw the 1990 remake and that one was ok, for certeain aspects even better than the original. this is just plain shit.
This movie sucks and all (I mean, it really does), but I honestly thought the explanation for the outbreak was pretty clever and believable, given the heinous actions of numerous mortuaries and crematoriums over the years. It still wasn't an appropriate explanation for the previously mysterious Night of the Living Dead, but it wasn't terrible.
I m trying to remember the title of a movie i ve seen some year ago , that Was a sort of spoof/homage/remake to night of living dead. It Was the story if a group of teen that went to a party, Was drugged and wake up dress like the characters of the movie force to relive the story. It Was afwul
Kaiser Yuuki Yes, that's it. I saw it on Netflix I think. It was actually not that bad. I had stupid moments and really bad parts but at least the basic idea was trying to do something more original.
He says ”By the way, my name is Ben” almost as if he’s blatantly pointing out to the the audience *”By The Way, My Name Is Ben....And I’m White”* 🤷🏻♂️
Hew Man either way he was cast as a black man in both the original and remake film adaptations, so the character is historically black. There’s nothing wrong with a change of race in characters but with that it just seems like a blatant fuck you to fans of the original bc it’s not like that guy is somebody of notoriety. He’s an unknown actor. It’s insulting. Or it would be if anybody saw this crap fest.
@CharliesDeathWish nobody said that. I love Superman. Would I cast clark kent as black bc I'm black...no because he's always been a white boy raised on a kansas farm. Same with Peter parker. When miles morales was created it was a big deal to black and latin fans because we love Spiderman and love peter parker enough that we don't want to see him changed that drastically. It was a sign of progression when mj was written as black in the mcu tho. Nobody said that any kind of "washing" is okay. There are certain aspects to some characters background you just don't mess with.
