Oooh, you're so cute! All your phrases like "don't worry if you doesn't have this or that, don't worry if you think that you couldn't do beautiful, it's all okay and it will work, i promise" are so kind and warm that they did me keep smiling through all video! Thank you not for only the card tutorial (which is very cool too, i'll definately try it!), but also for such good emotions received from this video, i'm so glad that it popped up in my youtube recomendations♡♡♡

I agree! You are a very sweet person! I love to listen to you speak and describe things! I especially like that you don't apologize for the baby sounds. We should never apologize for our children when they are just being children.. and I think you approach being a mother in such a healthier way than is Americans tend to do. We tend to think children's noises are to be shamed. They are not! AMD these cards are absolutely beautiful! And I am going to try them!

"I'm not a proper watercolour artist..." YES, YOU ARE! An artist is some who creates not because they want to, but they HAVE to. It's a need to express that wonderful creativity deep inside of yourself. The only rules that apply is that you do what makes you happy. I love this video. Definitely going to try this, and use my die cuts/Clarity/Holtz/Sheena stamps as well. 💖💖💖

Ms. Marta. You are such a delight and an inspiration. You paint, film, and have your sweet baby girl right there with you. VERY commendable. I love the sounds of her playing....it's so 'realistic and natural' to home life. :-) I also notice there are 2 other ladies here who have agoraphobia. I want to tell them - Catherine and Helen - I am praying for them. I am a 'recovering' agoraphobic; I now can actually drive quite a distance around town ( I was totally homebound for 10 years). I can drive all over the U.S if someone is with me. It was a very slow, step by step, one day at a time process. So...ladies, never give up. :-) p.s. - I can even fly now! My hubby and I are actually headed to Scotland next summer. Yes!! :-)
@FannaTurano
@FannaTurano 5 лет назад
Thanks, Kathy, for your pearls of wisdom. Agoraphobia is strange to me, as I WAS the life of the party, I was the party, I planned the party, then...it hit. Wow. I'm getting better, and find a shower with pretty hair very first thing in the morning, and a tiny art store list, is working best so far. I never ever would have guessed I would be this person. I had scores and scores of friends. My wonderful friends now are artists, lovely people like Miss Marta, and others. So if painting wc keeps me inside? Not a bad deal! :) Happy Thanksgiving!

Marta, Marta, Marta. Real watercolorists do use white for a few reasons. It can make a non granulating color appear granulating; it can make a transparent color semi transparent; it can make a more muted shade . Very useful if you only have 12 to 18 colors in your whole pallet and want to do a wide range of subject matter on a limited budget. Don't listen to the watercolor snobs. Times they are a changing! 😃😄😘

Awww thank you for saying this ❤️🙏
@starleen1981
@starleen1981 5 лет назад
I totally agree! If white wasn't needed, why the biggest art supplies producers would even bother to make one? :P Okay, being able to paint the whole picture by leaving proper places blank instead of using white can indicate some higher level of watercolor skill, but for me even more greater would be to paint the whole picture just with three primary colors + white & black, just by making all needed colors...
@annettefournier9655
@annettefournier9655 5 лет назад
@@starleen1981 I love using just three colors. It's very good for beginners to use a limited pallet to get to understand color.😉💜
@farmwife7944
@farmwife7944 5 лет назад
Agree. The artist makes the rules for her work. My palette includes white gouache and lamp black and the lovely moody granulating lunar black and I use them alone and for mixing. I have listened to videos by watercolorists stating that black looks like dark holes sucking color out of your work! That's just too dramatic in my mind and there are no dark deep horrible holes in my paintings when I use black and when I need white nothing horrible happens either, in fact it is all good.
@VerdenAvGlass
@VerdenAvGlass 5 лет назад
Exactly! I like to do sometimes also mixed technique and I don't care if someone like it - of course artist can use special masking fluid isntead of white gouache or acrylic paint , that's what most of watercolor artists are doing, it's not even an extra skill, it's easy.

I have the Misti and was happy with it when I first got it, however it has plastic hinges, which over time get weak and now one has totally broken off and the others look like they will break soon. It is smaller and more lightweight than the Tim Holtz, but I now have the Tim Holtz and like it better! Much sturdier and better built, and yet it costs less! Plus I like the way the top flips over to use with rubber stamps on one side or polymer/acrylic/clear stamps on the other side. Also, it stays newer looking, because for some reason the ink doesn’t stain it like the Misti.(I always clean the ink off right away, but still have stains and cloudiness on the Misti. I loved the technique in this video! These are beautiful cards!!

Thank you so much for sharing this Marta. The cards are gorgeous! I want to say how much I appreciate the way you taught us, step by step, in this tutorial. I'm so glad I saw this video & recently found your channel. I am brand new at trying watercolors & I am the least artistic person on the planet- I can't draw to save my life & I am completely lacking in the skill set & the creativity that artists like you are so blessed to have. I've so far watched a decent amount of your videos & I am in awe every time. Your work is so beautiful, your voice so calming & you seem to have the sweetest disposition ever. To be honest though, I've really struggled at following along with your tutorials because, u till this one, I haven't seen any that show step by step instructions. I continue to watch you though because I not only keep hoping to come across some step by step tutorials for beginners, but i also watch because i just love seeing your art & hearing your voice (and sometimes sweet Hannah's too!). So i will definitely be on the lookout for more detailed tutorials like this one. I plan on trying this technique right now & even actually think that maybe I can do it! May I please ask though, can you tell me the colors you used on the card you had as an example in the video? They are gorgeous! Maybe a dark greenish blue? And I can't tell what else you used to achieve that affect, but I'd love to try it. Alright, now that I've officially "talked" your ear off, I'll let you go. I just want you to know how much I enjoy watching you & how thrilled I am to see this step by step beautiful tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing your immense talent, and your cheerful outlook on life, with us all.

Marta, i love these cards. So simple yet so beautiful! Thank you for showing us this technique. It's fun to watch you create. I have the Tim Holtz stamping platform and love it. The top part is reversible. One side for thicker stamps, the other for thinner. The only drawback is that the magnets are strong yet very fragile and can break if they snap together hard and are tough to pull apart. No matter though. It's a great tool for both placement and getting a crisp dark image by being able to restamp without any guesswork. Good luck with whatever one you choose. And I'm looking forward to more card videos from you. Thanks!

These are beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your talents and inspiring us. I have two stamping platforms, the American Crafts one (not available any longer) and the Tim Holtz travel-size platform. The AC one was not magnetic, so that made it much less efficient to use. I added magnets to the base, which makes it better. It has a grid molded into the base and also one printed on the outside of the lid, which helps line things up nicely. The hinge is designed so that you can use either clear or red rubber cling stamps, which I like. I paid around $20 US for it. I just got the TH one, so have not used it yet. The base on TH is magnetic, but has no grid and is slick, which may be easier to clean. The lid pops out of the hinge, so you use one side for clear stamps and turn it around for rubber cling stamps. I think that will work fine. There is a grid molded into the lid, but I think I would prefer it on the base. I paid $12.99 for this one (too good to pass up!). Tuesday Morning has a deal on them (travel size) this weekend (starts 11/18/18). Good luck choosing a stamping platform!

I am frankly not good at it much at all, but your fun, open, honest, and optimistic attitude helps me keep a positive attitude and keep trying. I love hearing Hannah in the background! I was a single mom with 3 children under 4 years old, working full time and in college full time. Everything I did was with my children. I even worked where they were in day care a preschool. When we got home at the end of the day, they sat at the table and in their high chairs while I cooked supper, with a text book propped up for study. They had food allergies, so all from scratch. We sang, we played, we cried...and they are now all wonderful, loving, adults...well educated with great work ethic and commitment to the world. Hannah will be a a wonderful person!

Beautiful! I've worked with watercolor for years and I love watching you play with them! The 'rule' about not using white watercolor depends mostly on what you're painting. For example using white when painting a bright sunset will make it look muddy, because white is opaque and the fact that most watercolors are translucent is what gives the unique bright quality. You use white wonderfully!!

Beautiful cards, love, love, love! I use the Tim Holtz stamping platform and love it so much because it's big enough to use the large scrapbook paper in and the top is reversible to use either rubber stamps or cling stamps! Yeah!

I have these paints and love them. I got them at Jo-Anns. I thought the cover was broken but I discovered it is made to come off easily so you can either use it as a palate or put it out of the way.

The sentiment would be beautiful also, with white heat embossing! Then you could place it at the top, in the darkest part of the sky!

Thank you so much! You give me courage. Loved the wreath one, too...all of them. I was on the phone with my daughter and messengered her some pix of your projects, and she became so excited and now wants to try one. She would just wave me off before! I think she could be a great artist because she has a great eye for artistic photos she loves to post. Thank you, thank you! Maybe this will be her happy start! You helped me to begin, too. I would NEVER have dreamed i would ever try art. I love it so much! Thank you!! Love Emily's input. Hugs!
