Just a reminder to the rest of the folks, the first two stanzas are not to be sung publically. Why *third Reich.* the third stanza is the acceptable one to sing.

to clarify, it is not forbidden to sing the first to verses but you might get some looks. Only the third verse is the official National anthem.

If I sing the first stanza and any German dare to give me weird look. Im looking down at them, being German and not even understand that Germany above all doesn't mean Germany is superior to all then you failed to be a German. A person should be proud of their country and understand it well.

Being a german today is understanding what we are and were, it ist therefore unaccaptable to sing it, not JUST because of Hitler, but because of what it stands for, imperialism. Imperialism is outdated, and contrary to some coutries (like the us), most germans understand this. The same is to say about patrionism. Simply outdated. As a german, i love what my country stands for, but why do i have to love everything my country ever did/was? Think, before judging.
