I only found Nightwish 4 years ago and I know that they are a live band meaning they really are best served live. And yes Touomas is a poet. I am now 60 years old and they are my favorite band of all time!
It's never too late to discover new (favourite) bands. My friend introduced me to Nightwish when I was about 12 years old. I didn't fully appreciate their talent back then but later on in life as I grew more and more into heavy metal, also Nightwish became part of my collection forever. They are one of a kind band and I'm very proud that they are from my home country.
This ☝. I'm 60. I'm here in the USA and discovered them in 2016, and then was lucky enough to see them in 2017 when they came through town. I just wish they were bigger here in the states. NW came through the USA again this past year. I drove 1200 miles to see them and was sooooo disappointed in the crowd. Nightwish put on a fantastic show, but the crowd just sat there like they were in church.
This song, this performance, that little "battle" between Tuomas and Emppu always puts a huge smile on my face!! This is WONDERFUL!! About Jukka. I saw him in April 22th this spring in Nightwish consert in Tampere Finland. It was so nice to see him and know he is, always will be, part of their family
@@goranelez9956 I only saw him in a lobby area where you can take drinks, so I can`t answer that profoundly. But it was just about 15min before Nightwish started to play, so I think he might be in audience. I believe that if he wanted, he always can go to behind to stage :)
Totally agree, Marko added so much, it's imposible to replace. Not even when Floor does his parts very well, she's still obviously unable to provide what Marko did. But seeing the bright side we got to enjoy 20 years of him in the band so we should be thankful of that. Hope he does more solo albums, the first one is really good.
All hail the best live band, led by the best lead vocalist and all round performer on Earth today whether round or flat....possibly, maybe ever. I love your reactions as they always induce an even greater emotional response from within me that breaks out through the surface when I witness how the magic of Nightwish effects you. It is beautiful. Thank you. Nightwish is a transcendental experience. Paul Nightwish Army UK Division 👍😊
Hi guys. Welcome back. I have sincerely missed your reviews. I agree; The best way to enjoy Nightwish is to see hear and not to forget FEEL!!! them live. Love and greetings from Amsterdam.
Wolfkain did a good job in holding back the salty waters ;) Great reaction video as always, more ! What about the Hellfest 2022 Concert ?! See how they perform without Marko
I had the chance to see them live for the first time this summer. They are simply out of this world live. Floor has such energy. And although Marko is missed, Jukka is a beast on the bass guitar. Such chemistry, they are friends and they love the music, it shows.
It has been a grazy ride with Nightwish and their members, growing up and getting older alongside with them (fan since 1997). Loving the state of mind where they are now, suits to mine perfectly. Hoping for Marko to join the band again maybe just a little while to get live performance of Endlessness. Thank you for your reaction to their newer songs too. 🤘🏼❤️
Hey you both 😊, our real slim shady troll beneath the bridge... 😂🤣. Excellent editing 😚😃! Greetings from Germany and parkinson's sucks🤗⚘ and 🤘EMPPU RULES 🤘😎
before the video even starts... I missed you guys, its been a while. this is one of my favourites, such high energy, and marco's vocals at the end. love it.
ooooh im so happy you see guys long time not see, plenty love over there first. this was the show opening and what a grand opening, damn. thanx to great reaction like always and have wonderful weekend. spiritual, you say that and i agreed yeah it sound like that.
Great reaction again👍👌💗 Please check the Hellfest concert, it's awesome, especially Planet Hell when Floor also does the parts of Marco. Greetings from the Netherlands ❤❤
Great opening song ....Floor walks out on stage like a real boss lady . Floor and Marco sound incredible together but Floor is holding it down with some help from Troy .
From the getgo Floor slotted in perfectly. Marco and her complement each other so incredibly well and beautifull. So pity Marco had to step down because of his mental health. BTW, this is not from Wacken 2013 but from Wembley, dec 2015. At the time Floor was nearly 39 months with the band.
To your comment regarding the magic of Floor and Marko singing together, they both stand their ground alone perfectly as they are both amazing singers. But when doing a chorus or accent voice for the other they elevate the song to sublime levels. Like Floor doing choruses on Islander and on this case Marko to Floor's Shudder before the beautiful. In duets their voices are just a match made in metal heaven. But that's because they know how to best utilize their voice to make the song great together instead of just trying to make themselves alone look good. And you can say that about the whole band. They give their best to make each song it's own very best, even if they can do different things if they were to perform it individually
I so much enjoy your videos and admit that though I thought I knew these songs, yet now I am able to hear them with a whole new plethora of sounds because understanding the deeper meaning behind the words is like hearing a new song between the music. So much fuller so much more of everything.
Like the Marko tribute intro and also the short history on your relationship with Nightwish - gives this reaction proper context. I agree with your statement regarding this album live, i do sometimes listen to my CD right through but i more often watch the live blurays or cherry picked live clips from RU-vid - when i'm too lazy to mess about with discs. On a side note your "Holy Wars" reaction was one of the first react videos i ever watched and it gave other reactors a lot to live up to, i really enjoyed it .
Am I allowed to suggest the following songs?: Sabaton - Bismarck (official music video) Sabaton - Great war (official music video) Sabaton - Uprising (live 2012 Poland) Sabaton - Ghost division (live 2012 Poland) Sabaton - Christmas truce (official music video) Sabaton - En livstid I krig (live Gothenburg) P.s: watch the ending credits from Christmas truce or perhaps you already heard it and it will be just an confirmation
Glad your back onNightwish but you missed so much, Floor's solo shows, Floor on Pinkpop and Nightwish on Pinkpop in the Netherlands, Hellfest in France, Dreichbrand in Germany. Hope you will look into it. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
I'm catching up on the videos!(slowly) This is for sure one of my fav Nightwish albums. The subject matter is close to my heart. I've seen/read a lot of metal media trashing it for that but I think they're dumb :P I was so happy to watch that interview with Marko where he explained his situation and struggles (LOVED the Eminem edit with him btw XD ). For someone to get a neurodivergent/ADD diagnosis so late in his life, he probably has his head spinning quite a bit and has to figure out healthy ways of dealing with life in general. But I'm happy he's still around and his voice on Nightwish is sorely missed.
Soy vieja guardia. Pero ésta banda me atrapó totalmente. Cero depresión, sólo ganas de vivir. Vuelve pronto Marco. Gracias Nightwish por tantas alegrías.
Wolfkain you still resist (starting the song with your arms crossed) but your Nightwish love is strong and comes through! First a little head bop then by the time you delve into the lyrics and you know and understand Tuomas - you have a big smile and open body language once again! 😊 Show Sistah the Fantasmic video to see Early Nightwish with Tuomas out from behind the keyboards head banging with Tarja! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7NGE3ZAubeY.html
After all these years she's still so clueless regarding to metal it's cute. The "you think "? from Him is priceless. Metal is in your DNA from the day you're born. You're either born with it, or without it. She has a good teacher❤
I would say the albums always sound too perfect and therefore a little plain. Though, human II nature is maybe the first album I felt to be more "organic"
You have a nice new format, flashy!👍Floor and Marko are an unbeatable combination, if you would like to check a less known performance of this heavenly duo: Delain, a day for ghosts in de Broerekerk Zwolle Netherlands featuring Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala (Nightwish) The recording is a professional one, but the church is maybe a bit too small for all the sound 😁, specially Floor’s power is amazing 🤩
I would love to see the Sistah react to some Peter Gabriel.. he brings such emotion to his music, I can't help but think you would love it! Some recommendations would be some tracks from his Secret World Live concert. Talk to Me, Shaking the Tree, Blood of Eden and Don't Give Up come to mind. Of course In Your Eyes and San Jacinto are also magical from that show. Cheers!
After Rewatching this reaction i understand Wolfgangs reaction. Nightwish stands for Symphonic Metal like Rock and Opera, not for just Metal singing like every other Metal Group do.
Have you ever reviewed a real aria sung by Floor? She did a Puccini song o mio Babbino cio……years ago on a Dutch television show way back in 2013 before she was world famous in het own country. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UeTyAZtV5wI.html It would be fun to see Sistah’s reaction. Her face lights up whenever she loves something.
Thank you, love :) Regarding the subtitles... not sure why we were having issues adding them to our videos. I think most of them should have them now :-/ ♥
I am with your observation at 13:00. In the 70's and early 80's albums were produced to sound good on home HiFi systems. In the 80's production was aiming to sound good on the radio and the walkman (remember that one?). This is when the loudness war started. Today, drums are mostly sample triggers and all musical imperfections are corrected during production. To me, the result lacks dynamics and is lifeless - even when the music by itself is good. Fun fact: CD offers 96dB dynamics while modern productions only use 3dB! A vinyl record only offers around 60dB of dynamics, but earlier productions used 12dB or more of that. BTW 3dB vs 12dB is not 4x, but 8x... Anyway, sorry for the rant 🙂 - but I prefer the dynamics, energy and imperfection of almost any live performance over a contemporary studio recording....
For the majority of people, loud = good. And, most people don't actually listen to music, they use it as a soundtrack for other activities. Therefore, modern mastering is always made as hot as physically possible - compressed, squashed into mere 3-5 dB of dynamic range and brickwalled to the point of hard clipping. People who like their metal blaring out of their car speakers love it. The modern production is indeed sterile and lifeless. Drums are either samples or just drum machines, guitars plugged directly into the computer, no amps, no cabs, no microphones... Vocals are recorded in a soundproof room on a condenser mic directly in front of a singer's mouth, and a lot of compression is applied to make it sound even, thus not allowing the singer to play around much with his/her voice... Reverb, echo etc. - which could've been achieved naturally - are effects added in post-production. All of it sounds synthetic. The most appalling thing here is the musicians themselves allowing the producers to butcher their work like this. Don't they know what sounds good anymore? Or don't they care?
Maybe you should check Planet Hell at Hellfest 2022 and see how Floor does both parts and makes it the best version ever, imho. Marko is gone bro, we should move on.
Haha! Marko! Marco! The Great Man is performing again, not with Nightwish of course, but who cares - he's making music. NW demonstrating how to open a show. As you're featuring Marco, you might like to know that despite playing Wacken to 82,000 people only 2 years before this, Marco considered this his "biggest". It shows the respect they have for Wembley. Marco is one of the greatest harmony singers I've heard. The "ancient unborn stream...Shudder Before the beatiful" is a quote from the book by, and is spoken here by, Richard Dawkins. Nightwish always better live.
Marco gave an interview to Chaoszine about his problems that led to him leaving Nightwish, the problems the doctors found and sorted and how he is slowly coming back to music. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZKClkDme728.html illuminating.
With the utmost respect, this is an immensely talented band most of whose music just doesn't do anything for me at all. I'm just here to check whether that's still true, & true of this song in particular - & the answer is yes, it is. Peace.
I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor until around 6 months ago and was blown away when I first listened to one of their songs (live) not expecting to like symphonic metal. I've never heard anything before or since that resonates so strongly with me so I guess its not a one size fits all. 👍😊
I'm curious what kind of music you listen to. This over-the-top bombast does little for me too. As a doom metalhead, I don't like symphonic/power metal much. Floor Jansen is an exceptional singer, but her power is greatly limited by the soft music and by other confines put on her by the Mastermind. She's not even allowed to write her own lyrics and vocal melodies! I like her work with her previous bands way more than this. She knew no restrain, had total creative control, and the music was much heavier and more progressive than this cheese.
I'm SO looking forward to whatever Marco is part of! :-DD And you must like my hair out ^_^ I rarely ever wear my hair out/down. Thank you for the compliment :-* ♥
Eight months later, but... thank you! I haven't worn my hair out like this in a while. As you can see, from my reactions, I ALWAYS have it pulled back with a scarf on it. I might wear it out, soon! :-* ♥
