I've run many races in the next percent and loved them. The Alphafly is on another level. The added weight is imperceptible. The feeling you get is like nothing else I've ever experienced. It's like a marshmallow with a spring. It makes you want to go faster and faster. I ran a 12k in them and marveled at how good I felt the next day. The ultimate race/recovery shoe.

I’m not a runner. When you say, “recovery” do you mean the shoes help with overall recovery due to wearing them or are you saying you wear them the following day and they help recover?

Great review, I own both Alphafly Next % and Vaporfly Next % and I prefer the Alphafly, definitely more rebound. Stack height in the Alphafly doesn't bother me and they have more room in the toe box.

Owning both the Vaporfly Next%'s and the Alphafly's, I prefer the the Vaporfly's. The Vaporfly is lighter and more stable while the Alphafly's are a bit heavier (every ounce counts!) and the stack height makes it feel like you can turn your ankle if you're not careful. Importantly, running in the Vaporfly's feels more natural.

Just received my Mangoes (wife bought them as surprise) loved how light and bouncy these are! However, since my wife expected the AtomKnit to fit more like FlyKnit (ref the Zoom Fly FlyKnits); she bought them a size too big (I tried again to test them out this morning and it was just too much movement). What I can say is you can instantly feel the impact of those zoom air pods. Nike was hella cool about it and scheduled an exchange for a size 11. Can’t wait to really test these bad boys out and put ‘em away til racing season. (Well.. hopefully, one day 🥺😢😂).

I purchased these and they are comfortable and extremely springy. Only downfall is they run extremely narrow, I have a normal width foot, and they fit tight around me, I can only imagine someone with a wide foot in these. Something to consider, I also own the vaporfly next% and they're overall lighter and more comfortable.

Personally I find it is deceptive on that front. They are very hard to get on so narrow in that sense but once I did actually found them voluminous in the toe box and more so than any other shoe in that I have a full thumb width of space down the side but have my normal Nike size and it is right for length. I also had to pull in the laces so much the effective tongues are almost touching.

Never heard the upper referred to as a bag of apples. LOL! Also the shots of y'all running through downtown, makes me miss home. Enjoying the Alphafly, but felt like the Vaporfly was a lot more natural to my stride.

Going to use a new pair of Alphafly for race day (1 or 2 marathons) and then use them as a daily trainer in preparing the next race, for which I'll use a new pair of Alphafly. I think this can be the right way to use these shoes.

@@Believeintherun I totally agree, but I noticed a decrease in bounciness after 100-150 miles compared to new ones, that's why I would use a new pair (just broken in a bit) on race day.

Too expensive for me to wear for daily trainers! I'll use them for raced day and wear the $180 4 percent closeouts I got for tempo, threshold and speed workouts.

@@charliewatkins4571 good point, indeed. As Alphafly Next% hold up pretty well, but tend to loose some responsiveness in about 100 miles, I prefer to use them for training than letting them on the shelf after I used them for 1-2 marathons.

Great review guys! A question that goes along with one of your last videos: should I get the Tempo Next% only if I get the Alphafly (you know, as a training partner) or would it be also a good choice if I already run in next%? Would a training combination of the Tempo and the next% make any sense? Thanks!

It would be fine either way. The forefoot sensation is similar to the Alphafly, but the overall experience is a bit different.

Meg has 45 miles on hers and they still feel fresh. I have only put about 30 on mine and they feel new.

Even with the vaporfly wear varies by runner. I have Vaporflys with 250 miles that I’ll still run in. The AlphaFLY seem even more durable. If you’re an elite you want to have the fresh fresh for race day. The rest of us can rack up miles in these shoes.

its not new to the alpha fly. old nikes with air zoom have that tensils edit: im referring to pegasus.

Plenty available on the Nike web site now. Painful to spend that much money but I did it. I would question if they are better than the last one. There were 2:01 marathons with the original. True, there was a 1:59:40 exhibition in the Alphafly but it was run in impractical conditions. No turns, cherry picked weather, electronic pacing, strategically designed wind blockers, a guy with a bike handing him water whenever he wanted. If you add up all those advantages, you may not get the 2:01 performance on a regular course. Those are a lot of seconds being shaved off. But now Nike gets to charge more money for already ridiculously priced shoes.

You can actually put a decent amount of miles in these. I’ve seen people take them up to 400 miles, which is more durable than some trainers

@@christiangroendyk7198 Thanx for the clarification. A lot of ShoeTubers where talking about 250/300 miles. Most of the time I get 800-1000km out of shoes, so thats why I stated it.
