Got all 3 shoes and the alpha fly is to me, is the best shoe between the three. Saucony really really surprised me, being my first Saucony racer it was really good. The other Nike shoes fit my foot and strike better, and 5k or 10k they were more comfortable.

Thanks for the video! I now own all 3 and being the Alpha as the most recent, can't wait to compare myself. I hope to run a PR in the Marathon in 2021. If I can be of help being a videographer/photographer, consider turning up your audio, as I needed to turn up my volume levels to nearly max, both on YT and my computer, just to hear you.

As far as durability I’ve heard the next % wears out faster than both of these. However, the feedback on the performance is leaning more towards the next %. Ultimately, which ones the best road shoe? 5k to half marathon.

Quite surprised that the Vaporfly has not so bad durability. Thought the foam might lose all of its springiness after 50 miles or so
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 4 года назад
I've never really found that, I have an old pair of 4% with 300+ miles on then and while they are ripped up on the bottom and don't feel as good as newer version, they still have enough bounce for training runs I've found!
@GoSlowToGoFastOG
@GoSlowToGoFastOG 4 года назад
Probably why they felt different compared to the other 2, my guess is the next% has lost a bit of performance with the mileage on it.

Good comparison, I agree that the AlphaFly & Pro are the best two 1/2 and Full Marathon options right now. I think the Pro is the safer bet as it seems more forgiving at any pace and more stable. I’m a Nike fan so tempted but it does feel like an experiment to see what happens with a carbon plate and 40mm of foam under a sock 🧦. I think if it works for the runner it will be great, but otherwise ‘clunky’ which is an expensive risk. Undecided 🤷🏻‍♂️
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 4 года назад
Thanks, yep I agree the Endorphin is the safest bet, and also being the cheapest will make it very popular I think
@bettstp
@bettstp 4 года назад
Same thinking I had. I ended up playing it safe and ordering the Pro, I think it will prove more versatile and the things i am hearing about its durability over normal race day shoes is encouraging and perhaps extends its use beyond just race days to more regular use in a rotation. Ultimately it became an easier choice though because the Pro is the only one I could actually find available for purchase at the moment! Difficult to find an Alphafly or Vaporfly anywhere.

Which of these three is best for wide feet? They’ve stopped making the only wide fit racing shoe now (NB 1400v6). 😕

Yep, as I say in the video the Vaporfly was my go-to shoe for a year and a half and is still a great shoe, I just personally rate the two that have just come out in the last couple of weeks a little higher
@nicholasrattray8186

Love the channel and your recent reviews. I'm scheduled to run Edinburgh and Baxster Loch Ness marathons. Would you recommend any of the 3 shoes over the other for running between 8min/mile to 8.30min/mile. What about the NB Fuelcell TC.My Half Marathon pb is 1:25 which I set at Inverness this year. So I know I could quite possibly go faster for the marathon. Keep up the great work.
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 4 года назад
Thanks very much! I ran Loch Ness in the Vaporfly last year and any of the shoes would be good for it at that pace since it's all roads in that race. It got a bit wet on the day for me but the Vaporfly was fine, and think the others would be too (have to expect a bit of weather especially at the start!). The TC is a great shoe but I use it more for training, not quite as light and fast as these three. It would be a good marathon racer though I think, and more versatile/durable, just not as all-out quick on race day

which one was faster in your 90 min run? that is the key here, since all of them are racing shoes?
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 3 года назад
I ran the same steady pace in each for that, wouldn’t be a fair speed test since I’d be fresher at the start :) Plan is to test them more over proper races when possible - we have a race vid on the Alphafly and I’ve done plenty in the Vaporfly, but not had the chance to do any in the Endorphin Pro yet

Which should do you think you can put the most miles on before replacing?
@paulcain1285
@paulcain1285 4 года назад
Rewatched this review. You suggest the AlphaFly comes into its own at a higher pace. My 1/2 Marathon pace is 6:50 min/miles in your testing, is that in the range of the “sweet spot” or too slow. Whereby the Endorphin would probably still feel smoother at that sort of pace? Thanks
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 4 года назад
Hi, by that i more meant it's better when you're running at race pace, whatever that means for you as a runner! I found on easy runs I'd hit the heel more, whereas at faster paces I'd be taking more steps and landing more under myself, and the shoe feels better then! I found the Endorphin felt good at all my paces, whereas the Alphafly was a bit clunky on easy runs

Great review - do you believe that slower runners aka: 21 minute 5 KM 45 minute 10 KM; 3 :30-3:45 Marathon will not get the benefits from the Nike shoes? I think you made it clear that they will get the benefits from the SEP. I have heard this opinion expressed a lot that you need a certain level of fitness to get the benfits from the Next % and Alpha shoes?
@TheRunTesters
@TheRunTesters 4 года назад
I do think you would get the benefits at those paces! I think the Nike shoes can work for pretty much everyone tbh, the only concern might be stability in heavier runners, or those who overpronate, where the Endorphin is maybe better
@trosencrantz
@trosencrantz 3 года назад
I'd say save the money and then run in a lower cost cushion shoe like HOKA, esp if it's your first Marathon. Then as you build up, consider them down the road, if you want to break a PB.
@MarcNunn
@MarcNunn 3 года назад
As a slower runner - I was 22:30 when I bought my Vaporflys - I can vouch that they do indeed improve times. My PB is now down to 21:14. I have also bought a pair of Hoka Carbon X and they are nowhere near as quick - I could only manage around 22:00 in them. I don’t do marathons, so haven’t bought the Alphafly, as I think the lighter shoe in the Vaporfly is better suited for shorter distances.

I usually wear Saucony Echelon they are the only brand that seems to be wide enough throughout shoe and toe box. I had to go to mesh because toes started hitting rubber tried all there kinds iso, ride triumph and there’s a bump in the midsole that’s uncomfortable. Any suggestions does anyone feel that too? Is there another brand that’s similar? Brooks to narrow ASICS are horrible I have bad knees and need wide toe box. I love everything about Saucony but what is that bump I’m feeling??? Thank you
