Those irons, especially the MBs were the second nicest feeling irons I’ve ever hit. Also tons of grooves on them too, which was a unique look

I’ve just purchased the full bladed set including the rare 2 iron. The feel is incredible off of them! I can imagine a nice fitted graphite shaft in the 2 iron being a force to be reckoned with.

Just discovered the bb&f ferrules on a set of Nike vapor forged pro combos for sale on ebay, look real good, especially with all the paint fill removed on the heads. I think Nike golf clubs are gaining "cult" like status. Whenever they come up for sale in a local used sporting goods store they are gone within a few days. Great job on these, sure would have liked to seen the lie angle adjustment though.

Hi AJ, great video! Do you prefer air installing grips or solvent installing? Also, when air installing do you use regular grip tape or some other type of tape? Thanks for the video. It's very informative.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
I will do tape and solvent for most people unless I discuss it with them or they request it. Some grips don't hold as well when installed with air so that also factors in. Tape used for air install is just standard beige masking tape. Double sided tape isn't necessary.

Cool video, AJ. As far as swing weight measuring goes, isn’t that what the plastic piece used to catch the ungripped shaft is for? It aligns the shaft so that it sits roughly 1/8 of an inch away from the true butt end of the scale. Then you simply place the grip up against the butt on the ledge underneath where the end of the shaft sits.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
Sorry, you've confused me. What plastic piece are you referring to?
@rodrig13
@rodrig13 Год назад
@@EFGMC I apologize. When looking at the side of your scale, you should be able to place the grip down on the silver ledge right above where it says Golfsmith, just underneath where the shaft sits- instead of rubberbanding. The plastic piece I was speaking of is just that black nub that catches the shaft to keep it on the scale. It is offset 1/8” to accommodate for the butt end of a grip when the grip rests on the silver ledge.

I have a question about taper tip shafts and flex Project x 6.0 steel What would the flex change to if I put the 5 iron shaft in the 6 iron and then of course cut it to 6 iron length. Looking to get to 5.5
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
Would probably need to double soft step to get down to 5.5 so 4 iron into 6. Can also soften it with added head weight.
@cantill2

AJ I love watching your content as you are super gifted at what you do with golf clubs. Seeing the Golfsmith logo on your equipment took me back as far as those irons. Quick random question for you I have two identical length T1100 even flo white 6.5 X flex shafts. I have one as a backup for my TSI3 driver. I weighed both shafts and one weighs 133 grams and the other weighs 143 grams. Again they’re identical length, have the same exact grip, the same amount of tape, and the same Titleist adapter.. What I’m wondering… is all other things equal what will the 10 gram difference in these shafts do from a performance standpoint for me? I’m about 110 mph swing speed, generate about 162 mph ball speed, and carry my drives around 270 yards.. Oddly enough I’ve been playing with the lighter shaft… but I’m wondering again same spec for two shafts.. the manufacturer has the same printing on those shafts but there’s 10 g difference in the weight. What would I expect to see trying the heavier shaft which I can only associate with manufacturer’s tolerance? Thanks AJ! Love your channel.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
Might have extra epoxy in the tip of the heavier one. I would find the balance point of each to see where the extra weight is located.
@cantill2
@cantill2 Год назад
AJ you’re the man! I had the clubs measured for swing weight and one was D0 and the other D2.5. Turns out I bought some golf pride grips from a sketchy source on eBay. I play the golf pride MCC midsize which according to GOLF pride website should weigh 59 grams. These ones that I received weigh 71 g each!!! Fakes!! So I simply had the grip replaced with a real golf pride MCC and guess what… now both shafts weigh exactly 133 g and they both play to the D2.5. I actually want to get both drivers to D4 so in order to do that I think I have to wait for the titleist weight kits to come out is that right? Or could I add lead tape? Won’t that look stupid ? Thanks you are the man.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
@@cantill2 Plenty of great players have lead tape on the driver. You could at least try the tape and make sure you like the resulting feel before buying the weight kits. Other option would be hotmelting the head to get D4. These would be good candidates because they aren't needing much weight.
@biggregg5
@biggregg5 Год назад
this is off topic, but I figured that since you are the man, you probably will know. Lately I've committed to getting more fit, and in the process regaining some swing speed that I've naturally lost from becoming an old fart. I'm still longer than my peers, but I still want more. I thought I would buy the SuperSwing speed trainers, but in my never ending DIY mentality, I thought it would be silly to buy something like that when I have shafts, grips and heads coming out my ying yang at home with plenty of epoxy and miscellaneous hardware. I have an idea of what I'm going to do, but am having trouble finding the actual head weights of the 3 individual swing trainers. I know they are much lighter than what would normally be on that length shaft. do you know the head weights for the swing trainers? how would you go about it if it were you? maybe this would be an idea for a video for you.
@EFGMC
@EFGMC Год назад
I don't know the specific weights, but I really don't think that matters as long as they are heavier than standard golf club weights.

I have a quick question..... I bought a set of Hogans about a year ago, and I do love them. Sort of sad they went belly up. Anyway, I started to get ferrule creep with my driver within a couple months. my last golf outing, I noticed the same with some of my short irons. Now, none of the heads feel loose and none of the ferrules seem loose when I try to move them with my fingers, however, they obviously are loose or they wouldn't be separating. Do you have a video tutorial on how to fix this? in the past, when something like this happened, the fix was easy because I could move the ferrule by hand and snug it up, but I don't want to go through removing head and replacing ferrule or damaging the existing ferrule.

Nike dropped the ball when they stopped making classic looking clubs that most players prefer. The Victory Red releases were the best clubs Nike ever made. I currently game a set of VR forged pro combos. There are still many sets in great condition available, and an opportunity for people in the secondhand market to get premium clubs without having to pay premium prices.
