Of all the Chopin nocturnes, this is perhaps the greatest. Only the C sharp minor, opus 27 no. 1 compares. Many are wonderful but those two are at the very pinnacle of Chopin’s art. This is a funeral march a chorale and again the march accompanied by hysterics that resolve in tears

Never did it bother me so little that someone plays this as slow as he does. Because of his sublime phrasing it's barely noticable that it's "slow" and instead of boring the phrases become even more intense. Such a unique and tasteful interpretation.

Watching them I could swear his fingers have an additional joint This nocturne is perfect for him, like rach prelude 32-10 or Scriabin 8-12 or every other chord banging piece. And he is the master of banging chords without banging them

I am often confused and puzzled when people say they find classical music boring, but I do think I know why. The main reasons must be the way classical music is presented: Old men in black suits who attend high class concerts were clapping at the wrong place is the highest sin one can achieve. The other reason is that the world has now become over saturated with noise, either through the huge amount of meaningless trash one encounters through social media, or that music has become a cheap industry that bases itself around the idea that music should be simple and mainstream. In that sense I understand how people can call classical music boring; because they have lost the ability to appreciate the silence between the notes and honesty that comes when an artist puts their entire being into an instrument on a stage. People today needs an artist to whom they can relate to and see as a person, rather than a prodigy with a black suit. I believe the way classical music is presented must change in order for this music to live on, and inspire a wider audience. Im not saying that we should dress up Lugansky in some bling bling, put a repetitive drum beat and a bunch of swear words on top of his nocturne. What Im saying is that Chopin should be for everyone, not only the ones that are able to clap at the right places or those who are seemingly more intellectual than the rest of society. No, classical music is for everyone, and I pity those who say classical music is boring, because they cant even comprehend what they are living without.
@juanmonge9391
@juanmonge9391 5 лет назад
Isak Hungnes, yeah man i agree that people should appreciate classical music in general because objectively speaking its amazing but the problem of people finding it boring resides more on what are the trend or whats popular in the moment because composers like liszt at that time were well known and popular per say and as time goes what is popular changes and that shouldn’t be unappreciated but accepted. But of course one must respect the beauty in this.
@VegetaPixel
@VegetaPixel 4 года назад
@Lefty Smalls Well of course, Chopin might not be for everybody, but I suspect that almost everybody would, if they were willing, find _some_ classical music that they can love. Too many people just lump all classical music together as being boring and never give any of it a chance.

Those comments who said Jin Cho has better interpretation are just casuals, they don't know anything about professional piano performance. A Chopin competition winner is just a student who has chance to meet the world, they are nothing compared to a real master. They still need time to improve themselves, and by saying that they have already surpassed other piano legends are just ignorant and stupid.
