I love how he argued with D&D about decisions with Jaime's character post season 4 aka the last truly good season. They probably should have listened.

Fair play to Nikolaj, he acted his socks off in Season 8 despite the awful ending for his character.

watching this after the latest GoT episode really upsets me. he fought tooth and nail for this role and they just had to destroy the character's arc in a matter of seconds. Thank you, Nikolaj for being such a great Jaime Lannister.

Damn! Nikolaj GOT the characters of Brienne and Jaime, and their relatioship, PERFECTLY! He understands why the armor and the sword and his trust are so important for Brienne. He understands why there is so much respect between the two. I just can't believe what Dumb and Dumber did to Jaime.

Interesting to hear his thoughts on the way they wrote Jaime in Season 7. I thought it was super weird for the character to stick with Cersei after how Season 6 ended, so it's cool to hear Nikolaj thinks about Jaime in a similar light and stood up for the character even though D&D weren't having it

Well, Mr. Coster-Waldau, your scenes were some of the best in the series. And your scenes with Brienne were so deep, impacting... so full of contained emotion, so sublimely acted... I'll always be a fan of your work, you're among the greatest. D&D, however, will ALWAYS be Dumb and Dumber.

Jamie is my favourite character and i am really sorry about how S8E5 completely burnt the whole development of this character arc to ashes...

I really didn’t have a particular idea of how Jaime’s story should end, and am definitely open to an ending like what happened in episode 5. It’s actually how we got there that bothers me. Here my thought on Jaime’s character, and his relationship with Brienne (please correct me if I’m missing something): Ever since they met and developed a mutual respect, and admiration for each other, Jaime’s actions toward her have been very consistent. He has done nothing to hurt her. In fact, he goes back to Harenhal to rescue her even though he is on his way back to Cersei (who he killed his cousin to get back to). He puts himself in danger on several occasions to help her and protect her from rapists, bears, and likely Cersei herself. Does anyone really think that if Jaime was at all uncertain of his own path and where his priorities were, that he would have pursued Brienne and risked hurting her knowing what it meant to her? Jaime never would have used Brienne like that. Given that she is probably the person that he holds in the highest regard and he himself is very loyal in his own affections, and has been his whole life. He wouldn’t have taken that pursuit lightly, and knows that she wouldn’t either. While you could argue that he thought he could live up to her expectations and thought that he could be the man he has always wanted to be, and realized after-the-fact that his true loyalty lay with Cersei, I do not think that he ever would have used her as a guinea pig to test out a new life before he was 100% sure that he could commit to it. To suggest otherwise shows that the writers do not understand the complex and deep connection of that relationship, and the amount of trust and respect that they have for each other. I will just hope that the books will conclude in a more believable way.

He even indicated that jaime is going back to cersei for no reason. If I could go back in time and tell my younger self who is watching the interview for the first time that season 8 is the equivalent of getting kicked in the balls every monday he wouldn't believe it.
