Everyone! I truly miss that real strong era of attacking beautiful tennis. What we have today is an over rated Breathovic with zero net skills and an over head worse than high school kids having five wimbledons because of these dead slow courts. Bring back that fast old courts and we will get to see more of these Davydenkos and Gonzalez and Safins instead of over rated wannabe social media millenials.

@@taopaille-paille4992 Close but no. 2009-2016 was still really good, specially from '10 to '13 with nadal's phenomenal years and novak peaking. 2017-'20 was really bad.

@@EduardoMcGregor Yes I loved Davy and Blakey too. Just go for broke and pound that ball on the up. Don't think too much, let muscle memory and quick feet take charge. When Nishikori is playing his best he reminds me a bit of the great Davydenko!

Gonzalez doesn't belong in that group.

Nalbandian is easily the best player to never win a slam. Davydenko beats Haas for best player never to make a slam final.

yeah that match was the difference maker - he was annhilating Fed then total collapse. Would have won the title for sure

I wouldn't say he was better than Kafelnikov, who won 2 slams in more competetitive era. Davydenko would've maybe made it to the final though.

Felix Y davydenko talented player amazing to think he didn’t win a slam or even get to a slam final but at least he won the ATP finals and 3 masters series

No ... that was not his weapon. That is Nadal and Djoker's weapon - lack of consistency was Davy's weakness. Some days he would just be off and nothing would work. But once he got into the groove, every shot went in ... like a machine. His weapon was hitting the ball before the other player had even recovered from his last shot

@@anonymousLeroy I think that's a fair call. Despite what people above are saying he wasn't so consistent ... he ran a bit hot and cold from what i remember from his games ... Agassi was a natural born champion ... but you're right ... they're games are very similar .. except Davy got wheels

Yes fed had his measure, which is strange because his game wasn't that far from Nalbandian's .. but Davy had Rafa, Novak and pretty much everyone else's measure

@@felixjames2174 Davydenko really should have won that match. That is no excuse. I just think I have to put Ferrer and Nalbandian ahead of him for underrated because of that. Nalbandian didn't really beat a top 10 player to get to the 2002 Wimblodon final. But he did make the final. Same with Ferrer he didn't really beat the big 3 to get to the 2013 french open final but he did make the final. If Davydenko can't even beat an unseeded player to get to a grand slam final what makes you think he can win more if not for Federer? He cracks under pressure. He had to beat Soderling and Gonzalez to make the 2009 french open final but yeah you can guess what happened. I'd have him behind Soderling, Berdych, Tsonga, Nalbandian and Ferrer when it comes to underrated.
