Nikon D5100: Depth of Field (Bokeh) 

@Cybercreeps I'm a novice and I'm learning that Shutter speed is critical in HDSLR video mode, when you shoot 24fps and double the shutter speed to ideally 1/48 (1/50) you get film look or 1/60 for 30fps. As you get higher shutter speed, you get that Saving Private Ryan "crank" speed look. I'm not sure D5100 has manual controls over exposure or shutter speed in video mode. I know Canon has manual controls.

Well i got 2 say, bukeh depends on the lens beeing used. The standart lenses that came with the camera are good but nothing compared 2 other lenses like 35mm DX or 105mm Micro FX that i have, and more more great lenses that nikon have. In fact, if i use my 35mm and film with 3.5F the bukeh looks much better then filming with same F 3.5 and 35mm set on zoom. Optics and number of F blades make big diference. At the end i have 2 say, this cameras can record AWESOME image quality videos.

@LasstUnsSpielen sensor größe. aber die linse wird auch angeführt. außerdem ist dieses video alles andere als ein ausführlicher klinischer labor test. eher eine demonstration was man mit einer enthusiasten kamera machen kann ;D

hi, i'm thinking of buying D5100 but not sure whether i should buy it with the kit lens (18mm-50mm vr lens kit) or should i buy the lens that you use for this video. however i'm just a beginner and would really like to cut down the price as much a possible. Help!!! and thank you! :D

that's one of the only downsides of the D5100, no manual video mode :(
