Thank you so much, I totally forgot about the fine tune AF and i was getting the same out of focus problem with my 35mm f/1.4 from sigma in the viewfinder only. You've helped me avoid a trip to Nikon in order to fix this issue ! Love from France
DPreview covered the shutter shock issue with this camera. Amazing nobody has mentioned it. They go pretty in-depth about it, and the need to use electronic 1st. Curt shutter. And quiet mode just to prevent it.
Hi - tbh I've never used live view and ocf together that I remember but see no reason for anything to be very different except if using ttl then the different focus area compared to ovf may change the flash power but would only be very slightly I'd guess. 🙂
Sorry for the slow reply. Only just seen it. Sounds weird. Exactly the same lens I have and never had a problem. I never use afs. Always back button and afc. But I don't know of any issues with d780 and afs. Do update me if you have any news. Thanks Allen
I find focus issues with D780 while using OVF auto focus for still objects. But live view with same settings gives sharp images. Even manual focus in OVF is sharper. Any pointers? Using Tamron 24-70 g2 2.8.
why did you spend so much on the body and then buy cheap lenses surely you know the best images are taken with the best glass regardless of the body being used.
I doubt it. Latest firmware is 1.03 released March 22. The Z6ii has dual Expeed6 processors - the D780 and Z6 only have one so AF on Z6ii is bound to have more potential that a firmware update wouldn't be able to address. That said I find the AF using LV on the D780 at least in the same ball park as the Z6ii.
@@CreativePixelPhotos the Z8 is too expensive for me, but I suspect that the ZF and Z6iii when it comes out will focus as well. Problem is that I have some AF-D lenses so I think I will wait for prices of D780 to come down.
Hi, can you still get good photos above iso 6400? My D800 taps out between 3200/6400... How about fast focus and shutter speed? (I am tempted to get a used D5 but the extra weight...) Thanks!
Great video Allen, thx a lot. Maybe you could mention the fact, that Sigma lenses at Nikon Cameras are in 99 % not sharp. You have to buy a sharpening tool from Sigma or send the Camera to them, espacially if it is a zoom lens. I am on my way to Amsterdam at the moment and hope to get some sharp pictures with my d 780 and your advice ! :)
Hi I am suffering the same issue. I have 85 1.4 and i can't get a sharp picture on D780. When I stop down to 2.8 or above pictures are sharp. All my lens and widest aperture i cant get sharp pictures.
Hmm... How much are you pixel peeping. If I 100% zoom any of my prime lens shots that I shot wide open they're soft. Doing a video soon comparing 3 50mm prime lenses as my beautiful 1.2 ais lens is so soft at 1.2 yet gives the most beautiful images. Sometimes sharpness comes way down the list and overall look is more important. Depends what you're doing😁
@@CreativePixelPhotosHi Allen, my D780 copy was bad , Nikon did focus calibrationbut but didn't fix the issue completely so they were kind to replace with another copy. Now i am taking sharp pictures even wide open, if i need pixel peep i shoot live view wide open and I go crazy how D780 Z sensor is a magic. Now all my FX and third party lens work well with D780. Nikon 85 1.4G is just a magic lens good i kept it with me.
