I really liked the new Nile album and thought it was their best since Those Whom the Gods Detest. Nile truly is one of the best death metal bands and most of their albums rule. My ranking would be: S - Annihilation of the Wicked, Those Whom the Gods Detest A+ - In Their Darkened Shrines, Ithyphallic, The Underworld Awaits Us All A - Black Seeds of Vengeance, What Should Not Be Unearthed, Vile Nilotic Rites B - Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka C - At the Gate of Sethu

"The Underworld Awaits Us All" seems like their most well-constructed album. It feels like Nile's Rust In Peace. High praise I know! The only drawback is perhaps the production is a bit too clean and lacks some of the rough edge present in their first 5 records. Yet that is also true of Rust In Peace, which is also GOAT'ed by many.

To strike with secret fang reminds me of sacrifice unto sebek and lashed to the slave stick. Theyre all so catchy without sacrificing any of the brutality

I think Death is my favorite DM band, but Nile is second. Last album is really good.

I don't understand that some people only listened to new chapter and thought new album was bad. It's actually combining the writing of In Their Darkest Shrines and Those Who Gods Detest with Ithypallic productions. Makes a perfect Nile album to me, and the first one to listen to those who new for Nile. it's really easy to put it on because of how melodic and easier that album to understand that some of the more brutal and sludgier like 2012 and 2015 which are not as beloved for a lot of reasons. Howerer songwise, Evil to Cast Out Evil, Sarcophagus, Kafir, and now the brand new True Gods of Desert - are must have "singles" to listen to newbies. Good video, and ah didn't see you in a while. Beard is goat, actually jealous that can't have like yours.

Having listened to the whole thing, it is a hard 3.5/5 for me. There are no bad moments, but not truly amazing moments either. It all kinda bleeds together.

@@LicoriceLain like any nile album has it's issues. Like people say "Black Seeds Of Vengeance" is perfect, where it lacks those melodic and progressive motives outside of "Masturbating the war god", "Defiling the Gates of Ishtar" and generally having a lot more ambience as the album goes on. Not a bad thing but it lacks the actual metal material. And sound is extremely muddy The other one, with "Annihilation of the Wicked", that most claim to be the one best, has it's own wickness - that is the atmospherical lack. Which is why that album is tiring to listening when it's always machinegunnery for exception of title track and User Maat Re. That depends on perspective and rather a choice. New album have it's only wickness - to be not as heavy and to be compared and overshadowed with previous "more superior" albums, with some material here being not as rememberable at times. Otherwise it barely have cons in terms of musical ideology, production and writing.

I think one of the biggest issues with the production on At The Gate of Sethu is the engineer didn't use much if any de-esser on the vocals and those "s" sounds are so shrill and sharp, almost to a painful degree. Overall, I like the songwriting though and enjoy it for what it is.

They should remaster Amongst the Catacombs. Album is great but those weird typewriter drum mix from the 90's 🙄. Cradle has gotten rid off this sound and it worked out great.

I feel like generally, fans don't tend to hate any Nile album. I think most are in agreement that they don't have a bad album

Thanks for doing this because I would probably never do it. Great sound, some great song but tons of generic filler DM songs so it would be excruciating for me to go through their whole discography (I guess except their last two albums) again which I did long time ago.
