Nina Simone - Wild Is The Wind (Live in New York 1964 from the 1966 album of the same name) To my knowledge there is no footage of Miss Simone performing this and no official video for the song so I made one to accompany it.
Astonishing! I simply stunning performance, that's hauntingly beautiful and heart wrenching. Also, a nicely edited video accompanyment. Thanks for sharing.
I had the fortune to meet Nina on July, 1971 at her home. I was 14 and still can remember her with awe and fascination. She was amazing. Although I was there many for less than an hour, that experience is one of the greatest prizes in my soul. Thank you dear Nina.
I cannot imagine how many people would wish that that they had been so lucky! That you remember how old you were, and that it counted! Amazing!!! Jealously, i'd love to know more......but what an incredible moment X
I believe Nina did not sing AND played the piano. This is what we see. She was making music. She was making it with every cell in her body. Some were at the vocal chords, some were at her fingertips, some...
OMG, until this moment I thought this was a Bowie's song and it was one of the most wonderful songs to me! But now, after Nina's interpretation, I have to admit that this one is the best I've ever heard! The woman was absolutely outside all known frames, I shake with delight while listening to her!
This is hauntingly beautiful ! You should listen to George Michael's cover, too, from his Symphonica tour, but not the version from Royal Albert Hall ! He upped the tempo partway thru & I don't like it near as well !
Wild Is the Wind Love me, love me, love me, say you do Let me fly away with you For my love is like the wind And wild is the wind Give me more than one caress Satisfy this hungriness Let the wind blow through your heart For wild is the wind You touch me I hear the sound of mandolins You kiss me With your kiss my life begins You're spring to me All things to me Don't you know you're life itself Like a leaf clings to a tree Oh my darling, cling to me For we're creatures of the wind And wild is the wind So wild is the wind You touch me I hear the sound of mandolins You kiss me With your kiss my life begins Daddy, you're spring to me All things to me Don't you know you're life itself Like a leaf clings to a tree Oh my darling, cling to me For we're creatures of the wind And wild is the wind So wild is the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind Dimitri Tiomkin / Ned Washington
This has since a child been in my top 10 and I am now 60yrs. Amazing still and David Bowies version floors me. I was privileged to see him perform live in Adelaide, Australia 😃🐨♥️🇦🇺
It's 1 am and ijust got off work, it's cold outside, I'm lying in bed next to the woman I love while she soundly sleeps, sipping a glass of wine, listening to this and other beautiful classics. What more could a man want
Stunning! This interpretation is an extraordinary musical journey... almost an existentialist experience! Undoubtedly a beautiful song, whose beautiful melody and poetic lyrics, in the unique voice of Nina, with her brilliant piano accompaniment, penetrates through the heart so deep, that rips the soul apart and touches the spirit! Awesome!
He probably draws more viewers /listeners here and I'm sure he would love that. A song sung that reminds of past hurts. Beautiful yet painful. Oh but if ...
Went to a free concert here in France about 5/6 years ago and heard someone doing a fair few Nina Simone Standards. Worked my way to the front of the stage and it turned out it was her daughter Lisa Simone belting them out. Wonderfull evening. Check her out.
Это точно! И мы растворяется вместе с ней. Создаёт особое настроение!!! Ещё сейчас так же талантлива девочка с джазовым голосом и-Анджелина Джордан из Норвегии .
i have to admit that i recently began listen to her music....dont know why i waited so long but her vocals speak to the soul on so many different levels...i think what draws ppl to her music is her authenticity cause unapologetically black although she was not accepted because she was so different
I didn't want to cry tonight. But then here the Queen comes and sings this again. I love you Dr. Simone, will call you by any name.... you will never loose what is so much more than any name or title....you are such salve for me for so so many. Thank you thank you wherever you are...in the wind today, in these tears too...everywhere mama. . Man, did not want to cry tonight. oh
Pour mon père, décédé le 06/04/2022 . Il me demandait, mais moi la dame . On écoutait ensemble. Des moments de bonheur. Tu me manques. Il aimait la vie et les saltimbanques. Une larme .
Sometimes in front of live musicians tears come down my eyes, in part emotion, another part music vibrating through my body. This recording made me feel that, I wonder what would have happened if I had been there.
This comes from the very first Nina Simone album I ever bought. Followed up with 12 more and backup CDs as well as when I got lazy and loaded them onto iTiunes. The David Bowie and George Michael versions are great but this to my mind is the best.
Beautiful video. Made her as majestic as she is. One of the best songs ever written and her interpretation is heaven. Her voice takes me to places and the piano touches me deeply and plays strings of feelings in my heart.💖 She is life itself.👑
She caresses the piano bringing it to life and with her voice she will touch your soul they work in harmony... Day and night, light and dark. I love Nina Simone she's such a unique talent 🎤🎵🎹🎵🎶🎙️🔊
What a sad wonderful talent! I sit here crying in thinking of what this wonderful woman has endured...... thank you - you have compiled a wonderful sensitive video.............
So lovely isnt it? Have you heard David Bowie's version? Lovely in a whole new way. They were friends. I just found this out via one of Nina's videos. How sweet.
I didn't know very much about Nina Simone, nor listened to her music until I saw the movie Nina with Zoe Saldana and David Oyelowo. Now I am searching and loving her music. I am a fan of the movie and Nina Simone legacy.
I didn't discover Nina S. till late when I watched the movie Point of no Return. Oh what songs it showcased. I done watched that movie a ton of times since then. Can't get enough it. ☺
