I was a teenager with severe depression (undiagnosed Biopolar II Disorder) when this song came out. I had multiple episodes and suicide attempts, my mom used to sing this song to me during an episode while gently stroking my hair. I'm much better now, haven't had a severe episode or attempt in over a decade, but this song holds a special place in my heart❤

It's depressing as hell once I began getting in touch with grads for this upcoming gig. So MANY have passed. We only had a grad. class of @275. I'll bet 25 or 30 or more have passed already. I remember learning this song just to sing it to my ex. She needs to be reminded a lot that it's okay for her to feel however she felt, that she shouldn't feel ashamed for being down. +Chicken Soup: Soupy.....try being out of high school 50 YEARS like I am this year (2023). Just like you said.....sometimes it feels like mere DAYS when you were sitting back in high school. I don't live in the past, but I damn sure remember it like yesterday. What you'll feel are all the emotions that came about during your h.s. days, regardless of how many years have passed. I've got my 50th reunion later this year....I absolutely cannot wait to see everybody. It'll be a shock, because we didn't have a 40th, and I haven't seen so many of my dear buds in 20 years since our 30th......and it'll be a shock to see how many of them have aged. Still such a fuckin 90's classic right here. I've heard people hate on this song in the past a few times, and could never understand how they could really hate on it. This is just exactly the kind of song that I just automatically and directly associate with the classic 90's sound that I grew up listening to. I could go 20 years of never hearing this song a single time, and still never forget one single word of the lyrics to it lol. Songs from the 90's that I was very fond of growing up hold a permanent place in my mind for the remainder of my life that could never be forgotten.

Every three to four years I return to checkout the comments people leave on this video and every time I get really nostalgic after reading the comments that people post but I also enjoy the fact that I'm not the only one who was touched by this song, it's 2015 and I'm still bumping this song after over a decade and a half the only difference is that now I enjoy it on Spotify instead of my Now 5 CD on my Sony CD Player

This reminds me of when I was around 10. I was eight when this song came on and I listened to Radio Disney almost every day. This song was always playing. I definitely got my fill of late '90s-early '00s culture.

So the context/story behind this song, he said way back when his soon to be future wife really wanted married but he couldn't at the time cause his rockstar life. Everytime she'd see friends or someone getting married she'd get frustrated. He said she was driving him nuts, but he looked at her laughing with her friends and thought he absolutely loved her when she smiles. Then the song all came together with that sentence of thought. He's still married to her and is an english teacher.
