I just want to say thank you to everyone for your kind comments, likes and shares. It really means a lot. Thank you. Here's some random trivia: 1) The reason there's an Intermission is because Trent had said at one time that YZ was "maybe too long." When I wrote that part, it simply didn't fit anywhere in the mix of The Warning I was doing. So, I moved it off to the side, called it the Intermission as a tongue-in-cheek joke, and It fit perfectly within the album's structure. Ta-DA! 2) Countdown to Twilight was originally planned as a very simple remix of YZ. "Familiar but different" was the theme. When I reached The Greater Good I hit a creative block and found myself playing piano and messing around with some of the sound files I had up on screen. I loved what I was hearing so much that my stomach twisted when I realized I had now set the bar so high that I was going to have to start all over from the beginning. What was projected to be a 3 month project suddenly had become a 5 year long endeavor. The result of that session is what you hear at the end of The Greater Good today. I kept the theme of "familiar but different" into the new production. 3) Another major theme was to bring forward some of the sounds I felt were covered up in the original mix of YZ. So, a lot of sounds you may think are new are actually original YZ sounds! Perhaps you'll hear them now when you give the original a listen. 4) Have you noticed lyrics entering from the side in the beginning of some of the songs? That is an allusion to the characters walking out on to a theater stage entering the scene from the side while saying their dialogue as they approach the middle of the stage. 5) There are 3 parts where you can hear my voice. Can you find them all? (Hint: the CC reveals one of them!)
i'm blown away any time one of 'you kids' mixes/remixes stuff at all. don't know how you do it since 'we' never had the tools or the raw materials to do it. awesome! love it, thanks for sharing!
This is hella cool, been a nin fan since the 90s, I love how Trent inspires other in innovated and creative ways. I like what you did here, awesome mixing and rearranging, the stuff you added is sick.....and really enjoy yur own unique vibe that comes across with year zero material. Very well done marriage of awesomeness here. Love it.
who'd have thought democrats would turn into the fascists they opposed back then? i guess it's that thing about fighting monsters nietzsche talked about
I got pretty hate machine when I was 7 on the way to my grandparents lake home. I picked it up because the artwork intrigued me. I took a boom box out to the floating dock and watched the sun go down listening to something I can never have blasting across the lake. 😊
