I own a xiaomi pro and doing a commute from london to slough via vauxhall to paddington, train to slough then to a data centre then back is just about doable on one charge. But I must stress that it's best you have a charging point wherever you leave or park it, on it's last few bars it will slow down to 8mph. I've also learned the hard way of never challenging anything that looks to be higher than 10cm. Unlike bikes with bigger wheels you should not try to go on pavements with steps, I will always try to find the flat surface to slide in on or stop and bring the scooter on the pavement. I ate dirt when I tried to challenge it, you could also attempt a physical jump on the scooter but I'm sure you'll eventually break something. Note, watch out for potholes on cycling lanes if you're on the road. I travel on the early hours and late hours where it's dark and these potholes can cause a huge accident on a busy road, potentially life threatning. These are pretty common. Also it's incredibly difficult to do hand signals with a scooter since your right is occupied with acceleration, it's why it's almost a necessity to get an accessory to do this for you. There is no suspension on this thing, you will feel every gravel, twig and bug you crush... Also got stopped for the first time yesterday at hyde park by an officer, let me off with a warning. All in all, I'd say wait till it's legalised or get a bike (hell I'm eyeing a brompton more and more), if you travel a short distance in london then I could recommend it or any other city with good cycle lanes.

Tests a scooter whose speed is 25 kilometers per HOUR, rides it for just 35 kilometers, somehow manages to drag it for hours and hours out to the night. Makes sense.

I bought the Max and I love it precisely because of the minimal anxiety. Infinite range, large wheels, the tubeless tires are also self-healing (filled with sealant or some shit), there's no charging brick to carry around, the 25 km/h speed is great simply because I don't want to die (also when there's no option to, I don't always feel like I should be going faster), the headlight is not only the brightest but it's cone is also shaped so it doesn't blind people, the IP rating is even better for the core components (IPX7), charging time beats the Xiaomi Pro by 2 hours (and it charges more range while doing so), and because it's meant to be used by sharing companies it's basically indestructible. Edit: And also (like the Xiaomi) it wasn't designed by children, which I can't say about the Turbowheel.

I might wait until Ninebot decides to properly mass-produce the Ninebot Max unless they bring out a brand new variant, which I will dub as the Ninebot Max+ due to some minor issues that needs to be addressed such as the lack of suspension or weight reduction (from 18.7kg to 17.5kg) or increase of mileage to 80km or heck 100km! Really wanted the handle bars & foot deck to be slightly darker like how the Xiaomi Pro is darker than the original Xiaomi M365.
@WhenTheUhh
@WhenTheUhh 4 года назад
@@gtone339 Mate, like Ben, I've tried to test the range. Trust me, I really did... Your body gives up sooner than the scooter. The increased range would only be helpful if you're planning on not charging it for a week or something.

Love the reviews as always. I was stuck between the Swift and the Max for a while last year. Ultimately ended up with the Max because of how sturdy it was. I've got a onewheel for fun and electric bikes for speed. The scoot was always just for putting around. Now there's custom firmware flashers out there and it's quick, at the price of some of that range. I'm happy with my choice.

Wow RU-vid didn't notify me a single time except this last message. Max is still going strong. I'm usually on my Onewheel over anything else at this point, but my S.O. has over 1000 miles on her Max running alternative firmware without issue. This one was clearly an upgrade comparedכ to the old scooter showdowns, a lot more detailed and that range test! my god! 30+ KM a day on a scooter, what a sacrifice! I feel like just like you've said, the ninebot was built to be a rental scooter rather than an owned one, and it looks like it's made at the same factory of the Xiaomi or something, they are too much a like. Waiting for your next one!

For me it is the length of the plate u stand on, their g30 is longer and more nice for me, next issue i got with m365 is when wind come at side u will gilde to over other side of the way if u runing max speed. that issue do you not have with max. when u driving down for hills the m365 feel it like tip u over and does not have nice feeling so you are force using the break for down hills allot, that issue do you not have with g30 u can using more speed in down hills without using the break to mush. also going up for hills the m365 is week on that, but max can clime alot better that m365. And you got more nice drive filling with max, I been using m365 for one year and max for 1 week now.

Hi, I bought a 12 mile old M365 pro 2 from a 15 stone guy who was disappointed with its hill climbing ability. I am 13 stone. I bought it for £335 and had a bargain. My main commute involves a tow path, dirt track, cycle path, B road path and a long steep hill back to my house. The round trip is only about 3 miles and I’m left with a healthy 65% battery at the end, so range doesn’t seem a problem. The hill at the end keeps me at a healthy 21 km per hour. But at the steepest parts of a hill it drops to 10-11 km per hour. Now I’ve seen the videos on RU-vid of the Ninebot max G30 with its 10” tubeless wheels and more importantly the 350 watt motor at the rear it got me thinking 🤔 do I buy it and sell my pro 2 for say £300. I saw your video (very informative, and well done on the range test 👍🏻). Having ridden both, do you think I’d be disappointed with the extra spends for the minor extra gains, or do you think the 350 watt motor will relieve the 10-11 km per hour bogging down. Confused ! I’d value your thoughts on it ? P.S am I likely to get a puncture on the Pro 2 now that they have better thicker tyres ?

I agree with your assessment. The MAX is sorely lacking in suspension and somewhat in power, so advantage: Turbowheel. But, I think the MAX will last longer. It seems to be very durable. It's designed to take abuse by the rental market. (Except that plastic bottom plate)

That's right Ben, the Xiaomi Pro should of had the Ninebot Max's refined bell's & whistles, and its good that you provided feedback on those 10"inch pneumatic-tubeless tyres like how its more stable than the xiaomi pro's 8.5" inch tyres and its more puncture-resistant as well (totally agree on that one). Yes, the weight of the Ninebot Max is 4.5kg heavier than the Pro due the larger battery capacity & increase of dimension as well. I'm impressed that you tackled the range test in Sports mode, and I knew the range would last around 35km-40km. For my Xiaomi Pro I hacked the speed up to 22mph/35km/hr since 25km/hr felt slow for me since I live in a open environment where footpaths are wider & roads are even wider as well. Well, since you made this vid I'm not so sure whether to get the Ninebot Max unless I test one for myself. Oh by the way, Ninebot or Xiaomi may add suspension for their future E-scooters so keep an eye on them & the Ninebot T60 (Tri-wheel) next year!! Anyway, advance Merry Christmas to you Ben hehe! 🎄🎅👍🛴😁

The Swift is a variant of Zero 8 with LG battery pack, that all important front brake, trolley & handle-kit. It also has a stiffer suspension for heavier >70kg Riders.

In the US, the Ninebot max is limited to 30 kph. Mine will pull 30 kph down to 1 bar of charge left. And when voltage starts to sag, it doesn't drop by 1 kph. It will be dropping like 5 kph and continue trending downwards.

Turbo Wheel is basically à Zero 8. That model got as much copies as the standard Xiaomi m365 does.
@michaeljohansson923
@michaeljohansson923 4 года назад
Biggest concerns is the battery lifetime, let's say they all last 500 empty to full charges. That would mean that the Max would last more then twice then the other two.
@larzlarz7005
@larzlarz7005 2 года назад
When you say your biggest concern is battery lifetime, you mean you're concerned about the replacement cost right? A replacement battery for the m365 pro is $130. So for the same cost as the ninebot max, you could get an m365 pro and an extra 3 batteries.

The pro for me, anything heavier and clunkier defeats the point of having a scooter. If you want fun, get a dualtron and have a smaller scooter for commuting. I have my 14kw ebike for fun and the pro for running errands.

Isn't it bad that the Ninebot has a front wheel drum brake? Won't that cause accidents where you brake and the scooter flips forward?

Great video!!! One problem I have with the M365 Pro is the app, the instructions spell out the Mi Home as the official app but it doesn’t connect to the bluetooth of the scooter. Whats the other alternative for this so I can download the firmware?...I have an iPhone
@rfh9560
@rfh9560 2 года назад
Constructive criticism: 1- Never lift the unfolded scooter by the stem, way too much tension on the weakest part of the scooter, especially the Xiaomi, they are known for getting wobbly and noisy. 2- fix your riding stance, two feet together on the middle of the deck is very unsafe, always one foot in front of the other with the toes facing out a bit, and bend the knees a bit on bumpy roads to compensate for the lack of suspension. Your posture is why you got back pain. 3- should have mentioned custom firmware, they take 5 minutes to install and drastically improve the performance and speed of the Xiaomi and Ninebot without much compromise to the range, should be especially considered on the Ninebot with such long range

I got my ninebot max through indiegogo... tried it now to avoid commuting to avoid using public transport and and suspension is ... well non existent as you show, range is very long, wish they could have made it lighter with less range. Speed is an issue when going next to traffic, just downloaded a new firmware (not from the maker) to get 30+ km/ph which should make it much enjoyable. Using as much as the back roads as possible but it is getting me around which is great. Any news on weather the e-scooters will be legal in the UK ( I worry every time I see the authority on the road but so far no one has said anything). Great video … 👍

The Ninebot Max can have 2 chargers plugged in to cut times in half. Also the Top speed is 18.6mph but I think its locked. There are ways around it. But I still prefer my Ninebot ES4 because of full suspension and 19-22mph top speed.

This test is completely biaised. First of all, the Ninebot G30 Max isn't running at top speed. It can run up to 30 km/h for the "US Version". It is really easy to change the region with an Android app... It is totally official and supported as we don't flash the firmware, I will let you google for it. It is a lie saying that the Xiaomi Pro and the Ninebot are pretty similar. To have tested both of them, the brakes on the Ninebot are definitely better than the Xiaomis'. The Ninebot also has a better couple and performs better on small hills. Here we go for the cons of the Ninebot: - OK it feels clunky, it is damn heavy but man ! It feels just robust, unlike other "affordable" electric scooters and it has the best autonomy so far. On a "flat" ground, I ran out of juice after 40 km in sport mode (30 km/h) and I am quite heavy (90 kg). - You don't have suspensions, I totally agree on that point that it uncomfortable when you feel all vibrations running through your body. But that is something that you have to take into account when you are planning a trip and try to avoid as much as possible bumped or damaged roads. On the other hand, we have the Turbowheel Swift. OK it performs better than the Ninebot but seriously, are people really looking to compete in an electric scooter championship on the sidewalk or on a cycle path? I personally try to avoid roads, I don't feel comfortable with cars around me, there are always stupid people driving. As for the autonomy, I think that is a primordial criteria for electric scooters. Ninebot is winning on that point. Last point but not least, it may completely be a subjective criteria but the design is also very important to me ! I have to admit that chinese are doing a much better job that its occidental counterparts... It hate seeing all screws being visible, the Turbowheel Swift seems more like a prototype than a finished product. My 2 cents.

Nice video, i love my boosted rev tho, as same size of the the max and a bit heavier, it’s Ipx7 et got dual and 39km/h, 1500W and amazing look and build quality’s. The cons is the rear mud guard not long enough for rain and the battery autonomy. Restreint to city use. I loved the xiaomi m365 tho despite the build quality, it worth every penny. Happy for the upgrade for the electric scooter fan’s. I miss the simplicity of these tho. Never forget the first electric scooter, give me 1000+ km with no problems

I'm in the US so my Max has a top speed of just over 18mph. Like your Max my top speed will drop to 17mph after one bar or so of battery loss. I'm okay with this as long as the scooter will maintain a speed of at least just over 15.5mph. I'm all about having jumbo range and always want more of it so it was definitely a major selling point for me with the Max. Yeah, suspension would be nice, but I've accepted the fact that the Xiaomi-like design of this scooter just doesn't lend itself to having it.
