Do people watching these speedruns of Ninja Gaiden think it will help their gameplay? Because from I recall about the game, it requires more than just visual acuity. You have to pick up on the rhythm of the CPU. And that’s why Stage 6 can go back to hell from whence it came I WASTED SO MANY YEARS ON YOU YOU AWFUL DEMON SPAWN

The cutscenes, story and gameplay. This game was way ahead of it’s time.

This whole walkthrough makes this game look deceptively simple. I wonder if I can beat it in the same time frame now instead of the hundreds of thousands of millions of hours I spent screaming and cussing and throwing my controller in my youth as I vowed to kill all the eagles in the world.

It's crazy looking back at games you grew up with, just to see some one beating it in under an hour. When I was young I would rent a nes game after school Friday and hope I could beat it by Sunday evening when I had to return it... Good video though, thank you for posting it

I never made it past 5-2. Frustrating memories, but also why I still enjoy platformers like LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank even today. Thanks for the fun video. It only took 30 years for me to see the end of that game.

I remember playing this when I was like 5 or 6 and would always restart the game to see the cutscenes since they were just absolutely jaw dropping for it's time, don't think I was able to get much further than level 3 until I was older tho. Decided to play this again recently after probably over a decade and was surprisingly able to get to 6-3 with not much problem, doubt I would have been able to beat the boss either way, so I decided to finally watch the ending all these years.

Damn dude, you made this look easy. It's one of the hardest games on the NES, lol! I'm incredibly impressed at how small the ending credits was. For such an amazing game, it only had a handful of people working on it!

This was the OG game. I was obsessed with this game. I would spend hours and hours playing this at my grandparent's house. My grandmother would make breakfast for us and I would scarf down my food just so I could get back to my favorite video game, Lol! Fun times to be a kid back then. Now I'm a 35 year old married man and a father of 2 (daughter 3 yrs, son 18 mo) Thanks for posting this.

I was going on 8 yrs old in '89 when this came out on NES, and my two cousins would play it day in and out. One night I decided to watch while in the pitch dark...SCARED THE SHIIII OUT OF ME! The soundtrack was haunting, every stage! Guess I never forgotten about it, which is why I'm here watching this video. Still eerie to hear it, but nothing too bad lol. I actually love it now.

I'm 36 and playing a lot of NES games for the first time. Tough aren't they?! The tactic here seems to be to just keep moving, don't stop to kill those fecking birds. Noted.

Such an amazing series. I used to play this game religiously back in the days,and still do now. Ninja Gaiden 2 was freaking amazing. 3 was meh.

Playing on the switch version & still as hard as ever. Stuck on stage 6.2 even tho I finished it 30+ yrs ago as a kid (countless deaths later). Thanks for the impressive upload.

I didn't ask my praents for game titles specifically very often, but this was the second, the first being Battletoads. I usually hired games to try them out, and this was by far the hardest series on Nintendo. Contra and Battletoads required some skill but this was top tier. Great playthrough, and yeah you got pretty low on fourth boss lol... but it happens to everyone at some point. i'm sure you've done some savage playthroughs without even getting hit no doubt.

That was great work. I have never played a Ninja Gaiden game or any game on the NES platform, but I had my expectation blown away by what team pulled off considering the hardware limitations. Your play through made the game look smooth and probably a lot easier than it is to play, thanks for keeping the cut scenes in, it made it like watching a short film.

This game was awesome. Took maybe 10 people to make, not too much money, and they still delivered a very good game. Nowadays, 1500 people work on 1 game, use MILLIONS of dollars, and STILL fuck up. Only veeeery few 'jewels' out there. And they always fuck up on the most fundamental thing; gameplay. Gameplay is all this game has, and it was more than sufficient.

I beat this game the hard way, then only figured out that the jump-slash special weapon was the most powerful. You can kill a boss in 2-3 hits because it does continuous damage when you use it. Best weapon of the game.

Jacquio (the 2nd boss of 6-4) is the hardest boss in my life of gamers. I failed to him more than 30 times before winning him. And the terrible thing is you have to restart at 6-1 every time you fail. The last boss is easier to me. how many % of you could jump (step by step) on a sheer rock cliff to move from low to high (some time you fall but you do not die because you could grab on a cliff) ? And how many of you try to keep the "tornado sword" from 6-2 to 6-4 for killing the boss ?

Wow, in stage 6-2, 27.55 he used the bird to jump out of a hole. I think it was on purpose.

Great and very skillful. I Hate them damn birds and bats lol. Still wondering why when getting hit only took 1 or 2 bars when it usually takes 2, 3, or 4 especially in the later stages(Acts)???

I wonder if Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the popular Naruto manga, got his inspiration from playing, or at least reading about, this game? They both feature shinobi with ninpo techniques, in the story a powerful demon appeared on the earth (like with the Ten-tailed beast), the demon was sealed but not killed (the Sage of Six Paths sealed it but could not kill it), and the villain is trying to release it and harness its power (just like with Madara Uchiha). Just noting the similarities :)

to be honest most of the tracks are all good and on the other editions like part2 ,3 only one or two on each one . So yes all music here is exceptionally great

Real stuff though; Ryu going through all that trouble, looking for his old man, *_Forced to fight his old man,_* and Foster orders Irene to kill him?!? Irene captured, held hostage, ordered to kill the guy who *_PREVENTED HER BEING SACRIFICED TO THE DEMON,_* so Foster could get the *_Destroyed_* Demon Statues??? Tell me these 2 don't deserve a *_Permanent_* vacation in the Colorado Rockies; Away from all the chaos.....

Just beat this game today. Hard as hell.

Nice playthrough, was interesting to see how someone else does this one no death. You are certainly a much more merciful ninja than I ever was, no enemy/candle left unharmed for me, I'd even kill the walls if it let me. Well okay, certain bats and linebackers were left alone, but all else tended to explode. Your boss strats were identical to mine up to boss 4, I always used the boomerang star to instant kill the fake myself. Oh and I tend to not get beat up one hit from death too, but you just had a lapse of impatience there mostly :) 5th one was hoping to see something different, but just kill him faster than he kills you seems to be the strategy. Nice technique on the first final boss, I tend towards overuse of the flames there. The tail was destroyable on the third final boss? Damnit, been doing that one the severely hard way all this time, having to perfectly jump, attack and back out each time. I tend to get the urge to playthrough this every half a year or so, if nothing else just for the soundtrack, Stage 1-1/6-3, 2-1/6-1, and 4-2 being the best. Again kudos for being able to no death it, thanks for the post.

Timing is probably the most important part of your strategy for all the Ninja Gaiden games, at least the NES series. Once you have the timing down you can just roll through the levels.
