Had to come see this after the AVGN video. It exceeded any expectations I could've imagined. Maybe one of the important points to take away is to move constantly forward / slash quickly because enemies will bog you down otherwise? Would make legit sense: it's Ninja Garden, not Samurai Gaiden. (Easier said than done, of course!)
Dude, I came on right at the beginning and you said hey chris, then I had to go to a meeting and got stuck on a new assignment all day so I missed the finish. Happy for you.
I’m going to try to beat his time. I have a way to save time that I’ve come up with that will allow me to take the record as long as I come somewhat close to Arcus’ splits, which is obviously a huge task. I’ll say it like this, if I can get around an 11:41 or less, the timesave I’ve come up with would make up the rest. The problem is, its really hard to learn, but once/if I do, I think it will be effective. If I get it to a consistent level it will save me at least a couple free seconds with no downside. Deciding you’re going to try to beat Arcus’ record is a crazy feeling, it’s like standing at the foot of Everest with the intention to climb it, looking up at the peak and knowing that’s what you’re up against. I’ve recently started practicing and I can already tell this is going to be a long road. Im going to keep the timesave to myself for now but If I ever give up on this goal, I’ll make a post detailing the timesave in r/speedrun and the Ninja Gaiden Speedruns Discord so that someone else can get a chance at beating the God of Ninja Gaiden. Although its more than likely that Arcus will just use it to lower his own time 😂
If you haven’t watched Summoning Salt’s video of the History of Ninja Gaiden World Record, I highly recommend it. He does an incredible job of breaking down exactly what it takes in order to achieve this unbelievable skill
That quick kill on the stage 3 boss really is a thing of beauty. Such efficiency, optimizing boss fights and cramming in as much damage as the game allows is my favorite part of speedrunning. A game that shows it off really well is hollow knight.
Arcus is currently trying to beat his own record. He’s doing 40 hours per week on Twitch. He got an 11:39 about a month ago and an 11:40 a few days ago. He’s gonna get an 11:37 or 11:36 at some point before the year is up I think
congratulations dude and even if someone beats your record you shouls be proud you can even accomplish such a fast time. you make it look so easy. I've never beaten this game as it is and it was pretty punishing to suffer at its hands as a kid.
Amazing man my favourite game been following the record and watching sinister1 and your the man !! That was awesome wish I could cancel slash like you so sickkkk
Pressing down on the control pad cancels the slash animation and by alternating between down and the attack button repeatedly lets you slash multiple times fast while in air.
Think a revisit back to these games would be awesome and maybe have Arcus as a special guest showing him how to beat them or something. Sounds like an excellent show.
When I decided to look up "ninja gaiden speed run" I didn't know what to expect but it was definitely not a soft spoken cowboy destroying one of the most brutally difficult nes games about an asian myth warrior fighting demon statues. But ok. Great run.
This game is on the level of dark souls, no way in the world would i have been able to come even close to beating it without the Switch rewind function.
@@chrisneto Exactly. It is a community effort, and even the people watching ads or pitching in a couple bucks or just watching and commenting all contribute even if only in a small way. The "royal we" really does show how good of a guy Arcus is, but it is also really appropriate.
@kirwi kirwinson I mean they are paying him, and giving him someone to talk to through tens of thousands of otherwise isolating, lonely, maddening attempts
In my opinion Arcus is one of the best speedrunners to watch. Very dedicated and consistently improves. He also does not rage and throw out a stream of words my kids don't need to hear. I appreciate a streamer I can sit and watch with my boys.
@@sheriffaboubakar9720 my kids don't watch streamers at all only recorded videos I have watched or watch with them. Too silly to let kids watch anything these days that isn't pre vetted
When I first saw the title I was thinking, "11 hours and 38 minutes seems pretty reasonable for a speed run of Ninja Gaiden." After watching I'm even more impressed.
And remember: Anger, does not exist. Pain, does not exist. Defeat, does not exist. Before you leap, you must look. Before you look, you must think. Before you think, you must feel. And before you feel, you must dress like cowboy.
I remember my dad paused the last boss and busted out the big ass camcorder to boast while my little brother and I were in school (elementary) and as soon as he unpaused, hit record again and died instantly 🤣 wish I still had that VHS home tape
@@Jay-cn3js Or could been his vacations, day off, perhaps he works at nights, part time etc. Why would he kept that for himself, clearly it's a fun memory for him, he wanted to share it.
@@Exott well, he can make a video revisiting those games just like he revisited superman 64, back to the future, dr Jekyll and mr hyde, and I think he even revisited castlevania 2 two times
Had seen this quite a while back without really understanding the game - now I'm here from Summoning Salt and my appreciation for the skill of this run is expanded. Good bzzt!
kikoshin Moli he’s using original nes? Original controller? No turbo , no glitching? If not this is a fake speed run and trash and people are payin him for what? To emulate ?
Amazing! Now I'm new to NG speedrunning: what did Arcus mean when he said he didn't like his pace going into 6-1? Does it have something to do with the RNG going into 6-2?
Well this is random...i never get even close to beat this when i was a kid, just saw avgn episode of this where he tell he havent beat this in 20 years cause it is impossible...now youtube throws a random mustache stetson cowboy to my face who beat it in 11 minutes no sweat...Random
I remember watching one of Arcus wr runs a while back and it only had about 100 views and maybe little to no comments (he didn’t commentate on it, it was just the video). Happy to see the much deserved clout he receives now. He is an awesome speedrunner.
1. There's a community of people who have never beat this game. 2. There's also a community of people who have beat this game numerous of times. 3. Then you have the few who have only beat this game once and never attempted to do it again. 4. Has anyone ever beat this game only Twice? I'm a 3 guy. I don't no how many continues I used. But I beat it once and I'm happy with that.
