They then went to Dominos. After the wild success of the 1990 film, Pizza Hut signed on to everything TMNT afterwards, particularly the NES arcade port, with both a Pizza Hut logo on various walls in the game and a coupon in the NES box.
My pick for the director for this EPIC story would have to be: Gareth Evans. He has directed both Raid films for those who aren't familiar with his work & he has the absolute talent to see this through. Also, this film should be split into 2 films as well. Now imagine the turtle fight sequences from the badass fight choreography team from those Raid films. Imagine. I just need to live that much longer now.
Aww man, that is such an amazing announcement! I am definitely there day one, The most dark storyline of tmnt is finally being a movie. I hope they treat this with the biggest respect ever and also there is still the video game based on the comic that is coming soon too.
I can't watch R rated movies because I'm very sensitive to blood and gore films, but I'm glad they are catering to the adult fans because it seems like the Turtles are usually portrayed in the audience's mind that it's a franchise for little kids, especially little boys. Ninja Turtles is for everyone!
Speaking of DC, the first three Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles films were distributed by New Line Cinema in 1990, 1991 and 1993, that studio is owned by Warner Bros. and TMNT was distributed by Warner Bros. in 2007 at 4:00.
Honestly the biggest announcement for me besides this was the Aang: The Last Airbender cast. Not for Dave Bautista, but THE RETURN of Dionne Quan to acting. OG Kimi Finster and Trixie Tang IS THE NEW VOICE OF TOPH!

@Jonathanest90s u sound shocked and confused u must not had read any of the original 80s comics or the last ronin comics witch are dark and violent where the turtles actually kill the bad guys even in the original 80s comics they have a brutal bloody fight with shredder and kill him the same with the last ronin where there is only one remaining turtle left living in a dark dystopian future of New York City u should read the last ronin comic books then u will know why it’s getting a R rating
My top two franchises for an adult version have been Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. That Joseph Kahn fan film from a few years ago was incredible. Let him make a whole movie for us!
The thing that scares me is that when people say "adult," while it can mean "dealing with heavier themes" it often means "gratuitously violent and profanity laden." And I can easily see a Last Ronin movie turning into something that's either supposed to be pointlessly subversive towards the 88' cartoon or turned into the live action version of "did you know the Ninja Turtles used to kill and cuss" version that people who've never read the Mirage Comics version swear it is. And that would be a waste of film. My hope is that they're paying attention to the first live-action movie when planning this out and writing the script. Not only for the wonderful Henson costumes and animatronic heads, but for how to go about telling a more thematically darker film without relying on the Turtles being able to cuss and kill/bleed on screen. While it has its silly moments and they are memorable, it still had darker moments and themes like Raph's anger issues, the Turtles coming to terms with Splinter's apparent death, Raphael's near-death beating at the hands of the Foot, April losing the 2nd Time Around Store/her home, Casey being willing to kill, and the cycle of revenge. So hopefully that's the direction they'll be going. I just hope the script tries to be more than the lowest standard of "adult" in media/cinema.
I have the exact same thoughts and cautions. The thing with TMNT is that it's a franchise whose crazy sci-fi and martial arts quality is what has made it stand out the test of time. And while it has been grounded in the past, it has often kept a lighthearted tone. That's why The Last Ronin movie is going to be a difficult and an uphill task to make it compelling and believable, not just going off with the idiotic cliches of cheap blood and cuss, which is what that Winnie the Pooh horror flick did poorly. Hopefully, with the right direction, they can avoid landing in those cliches
Give us a R-rated horror dark comedy Beetleborgs. Let Blumhouse make it. Let the kids swear, make the suits really crazy, make the house monsters really scary looking but have them played/voiced by popular comedians.

Same here. Mikey has always been my top favorite and TMNT 2003's SAINW episode crushed me as a kid, especially when Mikey was the first to go out. Literally cried my eyes out seeing his fate. I'm still looking forward to the film, just have tissues prepared..

Dude with how much you can do with animatronics and puppets nowadays, a full puppet/animatronic head and mask would look so good. Infuse the amazing Audrey 2 lip puppet tricks to really make it expressive, of course they will need to focus on getting sadness and anger to look good first and foremost

Totally can't wait for this. Should be interesting to see who all they cast. Since April is older they could get Paige Turco at least. Maybe have Elias Koteas back for one last go as Casey? Should be interesting to see who plays Casey Marie, Karai, and Hiroto. Ooh and if they continue with the Ronin-verse like they are in the comics they could do the next gen (Yi, Moja, Odyn, and Uno).

I hope The Last Ronin just opens up a variety of different Turtles content. I want a shattered grid story also.They can honestly use the young Tommy actor from mighty morphin as a alternate Tommy or use Jason David Frank's sons voice in a animated film that sounds like his dad.
this was something I hadn't even thought was going to happen, so I never bothered to hope they would do it. I'm so glad, I love the last ronin, I really hope this leads into more from this world involving you know who, trying to not spoil anyone on what happens.
Great video! I want Paramount to acquire John Du Prez's 1990 TMNT film score. That would connect The Last Ronin with the first live-action film. Maybe he could score the Ronin movie?
Excited! 7:30 a combination of practical effects and performance capture could work well, if given the time, budget, and tools to do it right. We've had the capabilities since at least SW ep. VII, if not earlier. Otherwise, I'd prefer prosthetics without sub-par CGI.
Nickolodeon and Paramount need to be careful when they release this movie because other franchises including Transformers will take note of this then you will see every franchise in existence with an r rated movie
I think a hybrid prosthetic with a tracked 3d face would be the best thing to do. Hybrid effects have shown to be the best thing for non human characters; such as the beast from Netflixs The Witcher.
I'm shocked.. less so that an R rated version is being made, but a LIVE ACTION one at that. I thought for sure it would be animated. If I'm not mistaken, live action requires a much larger budget, which makes it a much bigger risk for the studio. I think there is an audience for this though. Just look at how well Logan and Deadpool did. I myself don't see the appeal of an R rated Ninja Turtles. Will blood and F bombs actually make this a better movie? I'm open minded though. But for anyone who's ever said they want an R rated turtles movie, they better go to the theaters to see this, because if this isn't financially successful, movie studios will be less likely to do this again.
Dude, they gotta go practical. Bring back Jim Henson creature shop. Make this a sequel to the 1990s films and keep the practical effects AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! Also, bring back Casey Jones and April from the 1990 film!
Yeah a lot of other franchises are gonna watch this close. Me personally I'm really hoping one day we get an R rated Transformers movie. For years the Transformers fandom has been wanting a movie set purely on Cybertron and I think an R rating could definitely help that succeed. Yes Transformers One is coming out this year that's set on Cybertron buts it's been stated it's for younger fans. R rated Transformers let's do this.
Next up, I want a Rated R The Mask movie with the character's name being Big Head with Jim Carrey taking on a mature version of the character this time around.
