I love that when Donnie is hit with the sai, you can barely hear Raph in the back like "My bad! It was an accident!" which is PEAK "DON'T TELL MOM" sibling energy
I love that scene at the end of the trailer where they’re telling April how ooze abounds better than goo. It was actually pretty funny and sets the tone perfectly for what this movie seems to be aiming for.
I also love that if you look at each the turtles they're doing something different when they say "ooze": Leo wiggles his fingers, Mikey makes a wave motion (idk how to explain it) with his arms, and Raph looks at Donnie who in response looks back and they nod at each other. Ik that little details like that are common in animated projects nowadays, but idk it just makes me so happy
I love that this movie is focusing on the turtles' relationships as brothers, and that theory about the turtles being younger so they can grow up with kids between the sequels? I think you're on to something there. And I absolutely love the designs of all the characters. I'm so excited for this to come out.
Not gonna lie, I don't think I could see him be Leonardo. Maybe if he pumped up the more assertive leader vibe to his voice. Mikey, I absolutely would believe though
TBH, I am kind of glad. We get more realized and personalized voices. With that we can get more dynamic range from the VA's which bring more life to the movie. I enjoyed the OG VA but the voices def did feel like it was from one amazing VA. It's like Family Guy. Once you watch a couple of episodes you can tell one guy is doing more than one character. Just gives the movie more of a fresh feeling which is GREAT!
Based on how Bebop and Rocksteady look, I'm super excited to see how the rest of the Mutants are gonna look like. Especially Leatherhead. He's always been one of my favorite mutants and I'm excited to see this portrayal.
main reason why i'm happy that the turtles are being portrayed by actual teenagers for once is because they've been portrayed like adults for years, never once have i been fully conviced that they were teenagers (fr if you told me they were in their mid 20s; i'd believe you), like yeah, sure, everyone's been a kid before, but adults can be out of touch, kids know better than anyone what it's like to be a kid, i know two of the main actors for this are 19 and 17 respectively, but that's still so young and they capture the immature and goofy antics you would see a group of friends doing on the street in your neighborhood, and that makes me STUPID happy
That's funny because here in Brazil they are just called Ninja Turtles, without the Teenage Mutant part, so for the longest time i had no idea they were supposed to be teens, always thought they were adults
The 2012 series was the first series where I thought all of Turtles were acting like actual teenage kids. Also, 2007 Turtles were one of the FEW exceptions where they acted like young adults because they were in fact 18-19 years old.
It’s been confirmed that several spin off shows for Paramount+ are in the works as well as a sequel depending on how well this movie performs. If that all turns out to be the case, then I think it’s very likely we’ll be growing up with these turtles. Seeing them face more threatening and complex villains as they themselves mature. They could even slowly build up to Shredder as the final boss similar to how the MCU did with Thanos.
Better not be on Paramount Plus because streaming service it's not really that good. Plus if that stuff is on Netflix reason why you say that more people use Netflix then a streaming service that really has nothing interesting on it.
As a TMNT Fan I Love this Unique Take on the Turtles as Is Trying New Things but Keeping Parts of Original and Familiar Things like Each of the Turtles have the Combination of 1897,2003,2007,2012,2014,and Rise.
The official synopsis goes as follows. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. Seems like no Shredder yet, my curiosity is peaked.
I love the art style and the humor is already growing on me as the day goes on. Hopefully in context I'll love it. But what I'm really excited about is taking the three year old. She adores the 2012 series and I can't wait to take her to see TMNT on the big screen. This will likely be her second big screen experience though, as Across the Spider-Verse comes out first and she loves Spider-Verse as much if not more than TMNT. 🙂
@@ijionclifton9148 It would be dope to see that years later in regards to this iteration. Gotta remember that Seth Rogan (The Boys and Invincible) is behind this. It's not above or below him to go there with last Ronin.
@@ijionclifton9148 It can always grow into that, if that's the direction the Black Nerd inferred. I'd be completely excited about taking the journey from this to the Ronin. Don't let us down, Seth. Lol
If they do Last Ronin on television (they definitely won't with this continuity), I'm sure that they'll change which turtle it is to give a different arc and a surprise to the audience who read the comics or just know the spoiler.
I saw this theory where Leo is the ‘worrywart’ because he seems to be anxious about everything in the trailer. I really love this theory due to the fact that Leo has always been assertive and seeing him stressed out all the time could be a change. Also I think I saw this theory on Reddit (don’t judge me) where Leo has a panic or anxiety attack and personally I think that would be nice to see how his brothers react since they sound so young.
I like your suggestion about growing up with these Turtles. I haven't really thought much about it until you mentioned it, but the fact that they do sound younger than the average teenagers that we're used to hearing does suggest that they could be starting out with their training outside of their home. It would explain how they are meeting April for the first time and still trying to figure out how their weapons work. Also, I heard that a month or two after this movie comes out in August that Paramount+ is going to release a mini series about the villains, so there could be room for growth in the series as well.
You handled the April thing well. She is a fictional character in an ever changing franchise. I think she looks cute. Slow the video down when they show their weapons. Don has his name carved into his staff. Leo has Rules and Consequences carved into the hit guards ( I don't know what they are called). It looks like the chuck in Mikey's left hand is carved. And Raph's sai sticking out of Don's leg also looks like it's been carved.
Nah, this is just more bad race swapping. Its funny how its only ok when its white characters getting replaced, which is hypocritical. Or why even feel a need to change her race 🙄. besides race, her overall design is to just please the few internet people that are the only ones that get off on this.
These design look like the perfect blend between the 2012 and 80's cartoon turtles and I'm all in for it! I grew up a little bit with the 2003 turtles but I have to admit that 2012 is my favorite versions of these characters. Although I'm not the biggest tmnt fan, I'm really excited to see this one and I definitely will catch this in theaters! Ps. This channel has definitely increased my love for TMNT and I will never forget Smooth Donatello
The voice of Donatello from what I can find is 15 and the only issue I have with it is because to me Mikey always been the baby of the family so having Donnie sound younger than him is weird but I really love that they got teenagers to play the boys and I do hope that this turns into a series
As a big TMNT fan myself I don’t really care April’s design and race changing in different version of the turtles , I don’t think people should take it all that seriously , I believe that her personality and her relationships to turtles should matter on how she’s protrayed
YoungRippa59 showed those exact same comic strips of April. April had curly hair because it's a perm. The same book even stated it was just a new hairstyle.
Oh God time flies so fast! I started following you when you would do the Tmnt 2012 recaps! And now! Many years later, i'm watching an easter egg video of the new Tmnt movie! Mutant Mayhem is going to be awesome!! Can't wait!! Love your turtle videos! 🐢❤️💜💙🧡🍕
First reaction/impressions/breakdown video I checked for. I’ve been watching for nearly 10 years Andre, you’re one of the channels that showed me that being a geek (a POC geek at that) is an awesome thing. I’m so hyped for this movie and i’m glad you are too!
I love that they’re sticking with black April. Also if Donnie does have a crush on April, it can be a played as a cute childhood crush that he’ll grow out of or it’ll diminish as he matures(if it’s a multi movie thing). Rather than 2012
She should have been a brand new character to be honest like the Rise version too different so it doesn't makes sense for them to have the same name as the past 4 decades of ginger April.. If IDW can add Old Hob to the Turtles origin story they can do that too.
I have a feeling that she is going to be Leo's love interest in future projects, because I has noticed there's parallel between MM's Leo and Donnie in 2012's pilot where 2012's Donnie was spotted 2012's April was in danger. It looks like Leo is doing the same thing in the thing.
People who complain because they look young and their voice, especially Donnie's, sound young, they're just too used to seeing 30-something actors playing high school kids on TV. They look, behave and sound like teenagers. And whether he hit puberty or not, Donnie will always be my favorite turtle. ☺
I was also thinking when I heard the voices for the turtles that maybe they would probably age them up as time went on with the movies or the shows or something. Even if they don't it's fine too. The movie looks like a good time and the art style is really cool! I'm looking forward to it.
Love how Leo looks like the live action version he s always been my favorite. I think Donnie will be the youngest member in the group but Mikey's voice sounds like what Donnies should be.
Oh my gosh you’re my new favorite RU-vidr I’ve never seen someone love tmnt as much as I do You’re great and awesome I’m subscribing right now this is the greatest video I’ve ever watched. Please make more TMNT videos and thank you for putting this video out because that’s amazing.
As a life long TMNT fan in his 30s I LOVE that the turtles are portrayed younger as more realistic Teens in this. In so much TMNT media they don't really seem to earn the Teenage moniker as much and it will be fun to see them as they just enter that phase of life as opposed to them aging out of it.
As you said, itd be really cool to have multiple Ninja Turtles versions happening for different audiences. Personally I would really like to have on more season of Rise, cuz I think it was underrated and over hated. But a Ninja Turtle instalment where they're older, maybe on their 20s, and they can get a bit more action heavy would be really badass
Andre should do more tv show reactions to Disney shows he has never seen I think he would enjoy the lion guard in the style of how he did spectacular Spider-Man
@@madnessarcade7447 Ooh. I’ve never watched it, but my little sister has & to me it always looked really episodic & boring, but I only ever saw little bits.
I’m with you. I’ve been a TMNT fan since I was a kid. The 80s show got me into them. I had the toys everything turtles. I know not a lot of people liked it but Out of the Shadows I seen it in theaters and seeing Bebop and Rocksteady fighting the turtles on the big screen for the first time I was 6 years old again sitting in that theater at 30 years old. I see it happening again with this movie when I go see it in theaters.
Hey Andre love seeing you back on RU-vid a bit more. Also I noticed the weapons are like the playmates toy style if you look close. I'm loving this and my hopes are up for this to be great
It’s smart going this route. Adult TMNT fans can watch with their young kids and introduce them to the turtles. This creates a new generation of fans. I do think mike having braces is pretty silly though. Yes it’s a cartoon. Yes the characters magically acquire thousands of dollars worth of food and gadgets but braces are done by a trained orthodontist. Maybe Donny is now a 15 year old orthodontist as well as mechanic, scientist, weapons manufacturer… 😂
I always love getting to watch your reactions and breakdowns of TMNT stuff, because my inner 80's child still absolutely loves everything about these green ninjas, and seeing your enthusiasm just makes me that much more hyped to see this movie!
It has been awhile, Andre. I remembered I used to watched your channel awhile back. I love that everything's nostalgic and did reviews remakes.🙂.. It looks amazing. It gave 90s TMNT movie vibes. Animation reminds me of Rugrats when I was little and I even thought it is better than Rise. I really do like Turtles acts teenage like 2012's counterparts, but I thought it is cool that voiced by teenagers. 😆
My problem is more with how Mikey sounds so "mature" compared to the others instead of being the younger sounding one of the bunch per usual. He sounds more like a Raph or Leo than a Mikey. It makes me think of the guardians of the galaxy game where Rocket sounds so much like Star-Lord that I can't tell who speak half the time.
Ive seen people say it’s actually a really good way to stop getting a good portion of the audience to baby him and percieve him as too childish which was a problem in the 2012 and 2018 series, which i agree w wholeheartedly so i think maybe that it could totally work so give it a chance!
You and James Rolfe truly know how to break stuff down and you now assured me of this movie. I love TmNT but as a new era if a movie I expected more but I await to watch this and it does have the style of old school tmnt instead of being badasses.🥰💖
I really don't understand people saying that the Turtles are "younger" in this version, just cause they're acting more like actual teenagers and Donnie's voice is high. Like, the 2012 turtles were 15, and Donnie's voice in this movie(Micah Abbey) is 15. Even considering that they probably recorded a year or so ago he'd still be at least 13, which was Mikey's age in Rise of TMNT. Basically I'm just saying, they aren't any younger then they've been before, they're just acting more like actual teenagers.
Love the "Oooooze" clip - great show of their dynamic and personalities. Can watch it multiple times and learn something new about the turtles every time
I love that they sound so young, teenager is literally in the name and almost no iteration has explored that aspect, theyre basically always played as adults. Them being young teenagers is pretty fun to me.
I hadn't gotten all up in arms about it here, but as a redhead I'm most certainly aware of the trend to change redheaded characters to African descent. And made note of it this time. Giving her the red highlights made me laugh.
Splinter with the silly looking mullet looks like the kind of flashback gag that a lot of sitcoms use to show characters younger, having embarrassing fashion or hairstyles from different eras. So I don't think that is what he will be looking like the whole time.
i can't wait to watch this with my little one. What you said at the end of having different shows or series of a same franchise for differente audiences NEEDS TO HAPPEN! This strategy can work for TMNT, Transformers, Power Rangers, etc. It can work!
A lot of the jokes in this trailer hit for me as someone who doesn’t normally laugh during animated movie trailers. I feel like this movie should be perfect for those who are curious about TMNT (like myself) and just going in not knowing much. So hyped
Seth Rogen is from our generation and a Turtles fan so, after seeing the trailer, this property is in the right hands! Rogen also stated that they wanted to focus on the "teenage" part of the title. I am really excited about everything I have seen so far.
No. No way. People complained about THAT… on your channel? Siiiiiiiigh. I am SO sorry. That’s just stupid beyond stupid. - ANYWAY. This is looking pretty great so far! Count me in for the hype train! 🚂🍕 Don’t forget! We’ve got Jackie Chan voicing Splinter! I’m excited how well he’ll do!
We had 3 Spidys, 3 hosts for Blues Clues. Can we get a big Crossover where we have all the turtles join forces from the og, 2003, 2012, ect.. I mean who wouldn't want that movie ? I know I would love to see something like that.
I love how they are building up tension. Leo has 6 reasons to be pissed at Raph. I'm aware that Seth Rogen is not liked....but I have to admit they are really paying close attention. Leos reasons to be angry with Raph are : getting his little brother injured by accident, sneaking out , using his sword without permission and being spotted by some humans. The rest are disobeying his orders in general and the car accident he caused, possibly nearly killing someone. This is also perfect built up for Raphs insecurity as not knowing how to be a leader and instigates his rivalry with leo
I'm excited to see this become a series of movies! And I'm super happy for you, Andre, as a fellow black nerd who's been watching your chanel for almost a decade now. Also, I didn't know that April has been more than just a white redhead in the comics, it gives this more legitimacy. I really loved Rise of The TMNT, and heartbroken it got canceled.
Another fun fact, this is Jackie Chan's second time leading a group of young Ninjas. The first was Master Splinter in The Lego Ninjago Movie. But man, I'm really excited for this new movie! I think it's about time I finished watching the 2003 Turtles. Then, I'll be rewatching the entire 2012 series. And we finally got the return of Smooth Donatello!
Honestly, I'm excited for this new TMNT animated movie! I seriously love the animation and art style of the movie also I like how the turtles look and actual sound like super young teenagers and act like young teens too. I think the way they sound is so cute, I might not be a major hardcore TMNT fan unlike others who've been into the franchise for longer, but I did loved and still enjoyed ROTTMNT as my first TMNT series for taking risks and being different from the other iterations while still keeping aspects of the original turtles. This latest new TMNT looks good and fun and I'm here for it!
I'm new to the world of TMNT. I started with Rise and I also watched one of the CGI animated movies which was pretty cool. I think the Rise versions will always be my favorite version of the characters, but I like the direction they are taking in this movie. I like that they are younger and more nieve, and they have a lot of growing to do, both physically and mentally. I still have a lot of TMNT media to consume, and I think next I will watch the 2017 Nick CGI series because people have said it's very good. Looking forward to the new movie it looks like it will be a lot of fun!
I know it's a trailer so it's suppose to sell me on the vibe of the movie but oh man this looks so good, I love the fact that their kids and the chill New York vibe makes it seem like a fun time kind of movie with hopefully some heart to it.
Back in preschool, my dad brought by one of my Ninja Turtles tapes as a surprise, but the teacher had to decline. It seemed like whenever that was on, the boys would start fighting.
My only issue about the turtles voices is Donatello sounds like the youngest, not Mikey, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Part of the reason Mikey gets away with being goofy is the fact he is the youngest of the group. In regards to April being black, lets also not forget that in the original comics Baxter Stockman was a tall black man, but in the 90s cartoon he was a short white man and nobody complained about that. Also, we all know who played the Japanese character Shredder, the legendary James Avery.
