Ninja V Fan Noise Fixed - AtomOS Update 10.72

Atomos have dropped AtomOS 10.72 for the Ninja V. The new firmware includes the ability to manually control the fan speed which is something people have been requesting for years. In this video I show how to update the Ninja V firmware and use the new Cooling controls for fan speed and Display Dimming.

Thank god they finally did this. Fan noise has been my biggest issue with my Ninja V

Hey Gerald, yes I can't believe it's taken this long but it's great they finally did it! It's nice being able to set up, start recording and know that the ninja isn't suddenly going to crank up in the middle of your shot! They did say that it will stop recording if it gets too hot, I couldn't make that happen after almost an hour but then it's only about 20° room temp. Anyway, all the best for the remainder of the year :)

I just ordered the ninja V. Does it really make that much noise when recording? That will be a deal breaker. I can remove a low fan noise but if that loud fan noise I heard in this video happens when recording I am going to have to return it.

The loud noise you hear is what happens when you stop recording when using turbo cool. It doesn’t do that when recording.

Yes, I’ve shown that in the video. It’s quiet though, likely not enough to effect an interview or other talking head shot. For me it was only really a problem when it ramped up during recording.

This device makes a lot of noise.Makes noise like a hair dryer. camera already has its own weight, add it as the highest weight on this device this device will be a bigger problem. You will pay a lot of money and carry weight and a loud device will distort the sound of the video How would it feel to prefer to pay the price of this torture with high money?

It works well for me but each to their own. You might want to consider the Shinobi if you don’t need the recording options as it’s much lighter and has no fan.
