Ninjask vs Shedinja | Pokémon Form Fight (Branched Evolution) 

Rock slide is a 1 hit k.o in this battle for both sides

Shedinja's gimmick is neat but it's kinda easy to get around, although I found it the best pokemon to catch Deoxys in ORAS since it knows the moves false swipe and heal block, also Deoxys can't touch it since its only offensive moves are hyper beam and psycho boost, which are normal and psychic type, respectively, and Shedinja is immune to both.

Imagine if ninjask got heat wave or rock slide straight away EDIT:Then I thought of a ninjask using explosion ‘Ninjask fainted The partner ninjask fainted The shedinja is immune The shedinja is immune’ XD

Shedinija because of its ability wonder guard is great but also it’s design is absolutely amazing. It maybe have 1 HP but it makes up for it with strategy

I have always loved both of them . I wish more Pokémon had this kind of gimmick ( evolving and creating a shell that becomes a Pokémon ) .

This is a weird one, all of these are completely up to the metronome, but this one in particular relies more on the metronome than any of the other ones I've watched. Honestly, I would never use either in an actual battle because I think they're both garbage but I do think shedinja is cooler.

I remember in middle 2018 my brother let me borrow his Omega Ruby and I caught a Nincada and I brought him ALL the way to the Champion Steven and boy was my Ninjask a BOSS

I feel so sorry for you having to do this Form Fight...you still managed to make it entertaining even with all of the failed moves. As for my preferred of the two, definitely Ninjask, if only for the design because I don't really use these two anyway.

I love Shedinja. Wonder guard got me through some of the tougher gyms I faced when I first got it way back in Ruby. It even accompanied me to the elite four. But honestly, I wouldn't use it for competitive battles because it's so easy to use super effective moves when you see it.

Shedinja's in there for one of the most unique Pokemon out there Ninjasks also pretty cool but how many other Bug/Flying types do we not have?

I'm more of an ingame guy, so I really like shedinja cause it sometimes saved me from difficult situations like battling Steven's Metagross. Plus it just pushed you to be creative on your strategy. But in competitive scene, I think Ninjask is far superior.

I think it really comes down to the fun factor vs practicality. I loved using Noctowl as the ghost/flying it isn't. Honestly there's still a good amount of fun to be found in ninjask too and even kecleon. It's good to break the mold with a different challenge like using the wackiest guys you can find as your team and roll with them

This is fantastic, has to be my favorite Form Fight so far. I actually really like shedinja, I like keeping him the back to hopefully screw over my opponent at the end of the battle

First time watching you. I actually liked this fight and you had great commentary. It kept me interested.

I'm new to the series, but wow, what a way to start. I love both the pokemon but Shedinja is my favorite because of its gimmick ability, I remember when I could pokemon gts website to just hack illegal pokemon in and get spiritombs with wonder guard, 10/10 childhood

*I want it to be noted that this post is a very very rough calculation and as such would be limited. To be fair, 72 percent of damage dealing types cannot damage Shedinja and a large amount of moves also aren't damaging movies as well. And there are almost 800 moves in Pokemon as of Gen 8, with around 32% being status moves. But let's be real, that isn't the info that really matters. you see, in a Metronome battle, THIS is the info that matters. And of the number of moves with the type that can harm Shedinja is less than 25%... note, just type.. many of those moves are status moves that won't harm it and many of those moves also have the chance of missing... meaning, in a metronome battle, less than 20% of the moves would actually be able to damage Shedinja... and that would be without counting moves that could miss. If you think about that. in a metronome battle, each turn, Ninjask has drastically less than 20% chance of actually killing Shedinja. And for 1-hit KO, Shedinja's chances of doing the same will nearly match. And as Ninjask loses physical/special defense or HP, it's chances of being taken out increase, but Shedinja's chance of being taken out is always the same, no matter what.

The name form fight doesn't work, a better name would be "branched battle"

There is a way to get wonder guard on any Pokemon, just it requires alot of setting up. It follows as this. 2v2, Audino (mega or not) and shedinja. Audino uses entrainment, shedinja protects. Audino uses entrainment again, shedinja uses mimic to copy entrainment. Swap in sweeper for audino, shedinja uses entrainment. Sweeper now has wonder guard.

Gale of Darkness taught us that if you use Sandstorm and stealth rock (spikes works similarly in this case) on turn 1, you can kill a team of shedinja

i may be 4 years late, but it doesn't change that shedinja can become able to not die from any actual attacks, only to rough skin or whatever that ability is called and then status and weather.

Shedinja has a hidden ability called sturdy

I remember being so excited the first time I got a Shedinja. I was like, "Where did this come from?!" and I thought it was kind of cute. But yeah, I'd rather use Ninjask because you can actually use it like a regular Pokemon; Shedinja is a lot more limited. You have to run Focus Sash on it if you want any chance of lasting more than a turn, which means you have to send it out first before your opponent can set up any hazards. It's pretty frustrating.

I know most of you know this but if you dont, shedinja is just the old shell or cacoon of ninjask, thats why it doesnt move or breath or anything, honestly the pokedex entry shouldve just said that its literally just a shell.

The coolest part about Shedinja imo is its options. You shortly mentioned Soak to change its weaknesses, but failed to mention such things as held items (most notably Lum Berry to block one status move, Focus Sash to block one attack or Safety Goggles to block weather damage and powder-type status moves), the option to self-paralyze in doubles or switch into a para move to dodge status, and its ability to perfectly wall anything that doesn't have an effective move. Especially that last one: the likes of a Power Herb Geomancy Xerneas would be forced to switch out and lose its setup against your Shedinja unless it carried a supereffective HP, for example.

Fun fact: Shedinja has Actually been used in Competitive Doubles, and though U-turning into Shedinja seems useful in Singles, Stealth Rock Unfortunately Exists

Wow Shedinja Survived With Only 1 HP!

Shedinja is actually pretty common in Balanced Hackmons, believe it or not. Not with its' signature ability, mind you, but with sturdy, due to its' 1 hp, making it immune to everything except for entry hazards and status effects. Oftentimes seen to smurf low-ranked players or to clean up at the end of a fight. oftentimes you see that thing with goggles as well, making it immune to sandstorm and hail, meaning the only way to kill that little fucker is with a status move. Sturdy Shedinja is a gimmicky strat, but I've seen it played well. Give that shedinja toxic, will-o-wisp, imprison and protect, and laugh hysterically as the opponent can't kill your little shit. Protect is optional, I prefer ingrain. Not to heal, but to prevent forced switches.
