I mean... the developer technically didn't say that pain is up to the player... Basically, the developer is saying that if the player thinks Mario is in pain, that's the goal of the developers and it is a success in their eyes. So of course, Mario feels pain, the developer is just talking about the process of designing the death sequences in the games.

Galaxy has some horrific deaths honestly, with the black holes and the dark matter. I’d rather not know what it feels like to touch that dark matter and just disintegrate.

Well hear his voice when sensing anything, if Mario bumps into an ant trooper do you think he finds it silly; if he doesn't feel anything being tickled by a Bowser Jrs' paint brush then he can't sense or feel it, you know how Mario senses hot objects or how he responds to heavy forces, Nintendo did precisely nailed what Mario is sensing. If Mario has no sensory he won't respond, yet he does.

I’ve always had the idea that Mario gets knocked out or gets slightly bruised in the mushroom kingdom, since in the Mario movie, it shows that Mario only feels a slight amount of pain (nothing detrimental, besides burning to death ofc), but in the real world, Mario can actually die.

Honestly, the WORST possible ways that results in instant death for Mario in the same way in real life is of the following: 1. Crushed to death like a lifeless pancake 2. Incinerated to death by lava 3. Poisoned by poison sludge 4. Spaghettified by a black hole 5. Freezing to death into an ice cube 6. Falling from a tremendous height 7. Suffocating in quicksand If I to chose one of the worst way to die if I were Mario, I would prefer freezing to death into an ice cube until I am nothing but a lifeless husk/corpse.

My personal favorite Mario death is in Galaxy when he falls into a pool of dark matter and kind of just stands there for a second while it slowly consumes his whole body from his feet up to his head before finally screaming. Yeah, I don’t think that was painless.

I’ve always thought he was in pain in the mario and Luigi rpgs when he lost hp and saw the hp as a resilience level. The more hp- the more he can take. The more he can handle without going down because he has experience with it

I'm a little afraid Nintendo dosen't have any good new ideas for the Next Super Mario game after a Masterpiece Super Mario Odyssey 1 of the Best Mario game of All Time and still the Best game on the Nintendo Switch even after over a 7 years of Super Mario Odyssey and Nintendo Switch. I just hope to see Super Mario Odyssey 2 with the Nintendo Switch 2 and in the Next Mario game there should be Cappy, because after Odyssey it would feel strange without Cappy. I've always played a Mario games since New Super Mario Bros DS and I've always be a Mario fan. Maamma, it's a me Super Mario, here we go wahoo!!! 😊❤
