@@mikematei They've become pretty corporate and soulless these days. Formulaic lazy boring directs, with the same exact beats. The passing of Iwata, and Reggie jumping ship didn't help at all either. But really, I miss the late 80's & 90's Nintendo the most. Actually, I miss the late 80's and early 90's period. Vanilla ice was right, the 90's was the last greatest decade before computers ruined the world. lol Also, the early to mid 90's trumped the late 90's 10 fold. There's no comparison. 90 & 91 still had the tail end of the 80's oozing into them, amazing times to be alive. Now we're living in a world with Cell phone zombie broccoli headed teenagers and tatood splattered try hards with dirty viking beards. I miss the neon colours and saved by the bell wardrobes lol

Yeah, I’ve only played 1 and 11, starting with 11 then going back and playing 1. Loved both and can’t wait for the remakes.

​@@TheZaiusimo, for now the SNES versions are definitely the definitive ways to play the original trilogy. They actually have animation for all the monsters and the music for III is top tier. The switch ports are so bad I've actually told people not to buy those and wait for the HD2D remake comes out

I'm glad someone here understood what I was complaining about. That Zelda game might be fine. My issue is that the narrator of the direct sounds like he is talking to a 2 year old. And the old games like Zelda, Zelda 2, LTTP and Ocarina didn't give the impression that the franchise was for a toddler. But it seems like that is very much the direction they are going these days. The narrator voice was the same shit on the Mario Wonder trailer. The company didn't use to do this. Go look at old Nintendo commercials and see the vibe those had. Now it is like they are talking down to the consumer.

Congratulations for being indoctrinated into games that were designed to waste the time and money of young children: your coins (arcade) and time (limited lives/continues to artificially lengthen games) I'm only a few years younger, so I get it I somewhat get it, but that you find anything about Zelda, Zelda 2, or LTTP to be anything other than games squarely designed for young children is hilarious. I think your imagination was getting ahead of you, or maybe the "edgy" 80's/90's marketing got in your head or something somewhere along the way. I grew up playing Bubble Bobble, I'm not about to go saying Taito has infantilized a game that explicitly already was. .

I saw a guy do a comparison of the wii version of Donkey Kong Returns compared to the hd remake. And it seems like a big downgrade. They removed and changed lots of effects. Like taking out sunlight shining between trees and a lot of other things.

​@@mikematei they "added" the extra stages of the 3DS version. But what they realy did was just porting the 3DS game, thats why its ugly. Its like the Grand Thef Auto Trilogy. They ported the phone version of the game. And used an AI upscaler. It was a disaster.

Mario wonder's power up are too goofy... Mario 3 has you wear a frog suit, super mario world there's a powerup that makes you a fat floating man... Yoshi's island turns yoshi into a helicopter, submarine and other things.... But Mario Wonder's what takes it too far? Did you even play mario games back in the day.

@@mikematei I could understand that, personally I would have preferred a hand drawn animation look done in the style of Yoichi Kotabe's art, the guy who did the old concept art seen on the covers of Mario Bros 3 and Mario World. They had to change the look after the last three New Super Mario Bros games started looking too similar.

That's why I'm suspicious of the aftermath of the Mega Man "legacy" collections. They only made one game in 6 years that's lacking a stage and the classic suspended jump while going through a door animation. Did those collections + 11 really sell a million each or were the sales mediocre and are making the numbers up?

Yeah. Another guy was trying to argue with me that Zelda was never adult. And sure, it was never exactly Dante’s Inferno or something. But games like Zelda 2 and Twilight Princess has a more adult vibe.

I don't get why people are mad about a Wii remaster. I hated the wii and refused to buy it despite the handful of good Nintendo games. And now with the remaster i can play this game finally.

@@Blutroth because its not a Wii remaster. Its a remaster of the 3DS version who had more bonus stages. But the 3DS version grafics where not as good.

It might be a good game. What I was mad about was how the narrator was making it sound like a game for babies. And that's not the direction I want the Zelda franchise going in. I want it to be more like Dark Souls or Diablo. Back when I would play Zelda as a kid, I thought it was this badass world. Now it's embarrassing. When can we have one that looks like Elden Ring or something.

@@mikematei Darker grittier Zelda would be amazing, but adult & grit don't go with Nintendo... Unless you're in one of their love hotels. Sadly, they'll probably never make a more mature Zelda & I've accepted that. Twilight Princess & MM are still the grittiest of them, which is why they're still my favorite 3D Zelda's.

That's been my biggest critique so far of people praising this game as being fresh and original (and even the people complaining it's woke)..... it's basically just a half-heart-ed re-imagining of that crappy _Wand of Gamelon_ game. When the guy in the video said that the new Zelda was basically a new and innovative entry, I almost laughed.

The Mario and Luigi game looks poor graphically to me. I personally just don't like that art style. Maybe that Zelda game will be okay, but I hate how they have the narrator talk in a baby voice over the footage. It makes me not want to play it. Metroid Prime 4 I will play someday.

​@@mikematei Alright, I did went back replayed all of the Mario & Luigi series and all of those games have beautiful graphics on the handhelds but yeah this art style made into 3D, that makes me question too? The Zelda game could be pretty good but yeah that narrator in the trailer made it worse. And Metroid Prime 4 I have already beaten the previous games except Metroid Prime: Remastered.

@@mikematei If I recall, the MvC games have been extremely priced up the ass and very scarce for physical versions of the game. It used to be on the PS store and Xbox store but its been taken off the store for many years now. This makes it readily available and has dedicated online and rollback net code.

Nah, theres already too many Soulslike games, im tired, i want something new. Not a clone of Darksouls with Link Zelda and Ganon.

But Dark souls is dark ALL the time, it gets boring. A place like the shadow temple in ocarina of time wouldn't stick out because that'd basically be the whole game in dark souls which is just bland, if an adventure has the exact same atmosphere the whole way through it doesn't feel like an adventure to me.

Zelda is supposed to be a lighthearted adventure game, not a dark nihilistic RPG

My complaint is NOT that its too bright and colorful. Mario’s world should be bright and colorful. The complaint is that it is garish. The style of this colorful world is ugly.

When you are disappointed in games for a long time, that's what happens. Watching franchises you loved change course and just change their vibe completely is depressing.

I'm 35 and there's still good things being made (rarely). Kirby forgotten land was a fun game, Eiyuuden Chronicles is neat, and... yeah okay I can't really think of anything else it's pretty bad. But the fact that these are pretty recent games is a good sign. Not exactly holding my breath but I'm not of the opinion that "oh it's going to suck forever" - that's not how time works, things change.

What did you smoke? They were all bad, but the Xbox Showcase was the best they've had in years, while Sony's was atrocious, and this Direct was barely serviceable at best (mostly ports and remasters, and some anime games). I like NEW games these days, I'm no longer impressed by the same low effort stuff I was in my twenties and thirties. I wasn't crazy about any of them, but atleast the Xbox showcase had Doom Medievil and Indiana Jones. This is one of the poorer Nintendo Directs in a while, especially compared to the ones at the end of last year. There was literally not a single game in that direct that I was remotely interested in (I'll try Prime 4 if that ever actually releases), and the announcer sounded like a small town art teacher who was molesting a student behind the church! "okay boys and girls, time to get undressed and practice our body paints!". 🤣

@@mr.selfimprovement3241 yeah Xbox had Doom and one other game I was interested in, but honestly can you even remember anything else from that showcase, or any other showcase for that matter? There's a reason I put "best" in quotations here, this is still by no means a good showcase, but it beats out others purely because it was 40 minutes long, didn't have "Hollywood" bullshit like SGF did and it had a grand total of two games that looked interesting, much like Xbox. Really the decisive thing here was that the Xbox showcase was longer, and so much of what they revealed is debatable if you can even call them games, devs trying to make movies because they weren't accepted in Hollywood.

@@mr.selfimprovement3241 What are you on about? The last direct had more remasters via Mario RPG, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Paper Mario TTYD, and Luigi's Mansion 2. This one only had DKC Returns as its only remaster while a new Metroid, new Mario And Luigi, and a new Zelda were announced. Also I don't see how Doom and Indiana Jones are new. The former is a sequel that looks like it plays similarly to the last two games, and is already a reboot of a 30+ year old franchise, and Indiana Jones is also another legacy franchise being revived in a AAA style that looks like a very mid first person knock off of Uncharted. The direct was great for Nintendo fans and JRPG fans, but if you prefer AAA stuff, then the Xbox one is more for you.
