I know i've watched GOW DS videos quite a few times - amazng collection - would cost thousands to put together now. I have about 400 DS games - my favourite. There's always somthing new to disckver/play. 🎈
Going through your videos and I really enjoy the channel. What I really like is that you are sort of low key and humble a lot of these gaming channel guys come off as really obnoxious with a lot of editing tricks and jump cuts. You just lay it all out there and its seriously refreshing.
Great collection, man! I'd like to suggest a few more: 1. Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - You play as Rocket, a slime who is out to rescue the inhabitants of his Slime town. Quirky 2D action-adventure game with big tank battle segments. In my opinion, the tank battles are the best parts of this game. This is actually part of a series (Slime Mori-mori), but only the second game got an official western release. 2. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker series - Has Pokemon-like elements, but not really. You'll enjoy these if you're into Dragon Quest games. 3. Mario & Luigi series - Very reminiscent of Super Mario RPG for the SNES. A goofy RPG with a great battle system. 4. Pokemon Conquest - Not your traditional Pokemon game. It's a turn-based SRPG that you might like, even if you're not into Pokemon. 5. Blue Dragon Plus - A real-time SRPG with Blue Dragon characters. Not sure where it fits in the Blue Dragon timeline, but it's a fun game. 6. FFXII: Revenant Wings - A story after FFXII. It plays much like Blue Dragon Plus, but you use Esper forces. 7. GTA: Chinatown Wars - Harkens back to top-down GTA games. Implements the DS's features well, which is why I think the DS version is the best version of Chinatown Wars. 8. The World Ends With You - Stylish JRPG with a unique and fun battle system. It pretty good story and great character development. 9. Elite Beat Agents - A quirky rhythm game with a fairly modern library of music to tap to. 10. Rhythm Heaven - Another quirky rhythm game that truly tests your rhythmic skills. 11. Retro Game Challenge - Pretty straight-forward game. You play as a kid who is challenged by a game master to beat a set of objectives in real-world clones of retro games. 12. Henry Hatsworth - A game that alternates between an action platformer and a puzzle game. 13. The Dark Spire - A first-person dungeon explorer RPG that pays homage to old PC RPGs. It has a great art style and some excellent soundtrack. The DS has tons of awesome games, there's probably many more that we've never heard about.
This is a great list, I do need to grab the dragon quest games for sure! My son has bowsers inside story, but I do need to get the other one! Also do need Revnant wings!! Thx man!
Not sure if you're still reading comments on your older videos, but I just wanted to say how much I love your content, man. I'm on a really limited budget, so I can only really afford to collect for a few systems (DS, 3DS, and Switch). I didn't even play a DS until around 2011, as I had fallen out of handheld gaming after the GBA, but when I picked one up I fell in love. Since then I have a fairly decent DS collection and a modest 3DS collection, but they're ever growing. What I really want to thank you for is keeping me super interested in the DS and 3DS even when I feel like I'm being burned out on games. I decided to pick the DS line as my collecting focus because I'm super passionate about it, and your videos help keep that alive. I've probably watched this video completely through 4 times now over the past couple of years. So again, thanks for the great content. I watch it all even when it's not something I'm collecting for because I can usually always play games for other systems digitally, right? You should get more love on the RU-vids and I hope you keep the content rolling after all of that bs you had to go through with your dog (sorry about all that, by the way). Take care, man.
Just found your channel and have to say I’m loving your style of reviewing! I’m just getting into the DS and I have a ton of fun to look forward to. Thanks for making some awesome content and helping guide my game consumption!
GamezOf War, I recently discovered your channel, and I think it's great. It's nice to see somebody just getting in front of the camera and speaking normally without unnecessary hyping of the content. Your reviews are cerebral and informative and it's nice to see somebody just be themselves in front of the camera and talk about how they feel about games. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I am a collector, and I really enjoy channels like this. Keep up the good work! I subscribed.
You have great taste in this system! You pretty much shouted all my fav ds games ( Im glad you gave Infinite Space some spotlight, its one of my fav game ever.
Just finished up watching this vid! I really think you did a great job bringing to light a lot of the great games the DS has to offer! I'm a fellow DS collector myself, so it's great to see someone else out there with a wonderful collection.
I dont know if it was in europe only, but "Touch the Dead" got renamed to "Dead n' Furious" because apparently the original name was necrophilic. So i have that game but with the new name, just a fun fact.
Man, to me, the DS and the GBA are like the PS1 and PS2 of the handhelds. The reason it got so popular is because like the GBA, it had an exorbitant library. Like every genre in videogame history was represented in both systems. There were many games on both but I like more the DS because of the great games we got. Hopefully Nintendo learns why their systems became so popular, because of the games, and try to emulate that to their new system. I do not chase gimmicks and hardware specs. I prefer to see what games are out on the system.
Great video! I bought my ds LL new off Amazon in Japan in 2017 so I’m late to the ds. It’s great to see such a comprehensive video vs 100+ videos about the world ends 999 phoneix blah blah blah. Thank you.
I thought I knew the DS library pretty well, but you managed to present some that I wasn't aware of. Nice to see that you went the extra mile and imported Last Window from here. I've had to import 7 DS games thus far from the US that didn't come out over here, and there's a couple more on my want list. Anyway, I liked the format with some history about the console and that you included some games you didn't necessarily love to mix things up.
I imported Radiant Historia last year based on your recommendation and it was my favourite game of the year, easily one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I loved the music too, composed by Yoko Shimomura, what a soundtrack!
nice. i also have well over 100 DS games and you honestly had so many that I'm still looking for or never heard of. it shouldn't surprise me thinking of how many DS games there really are.
Thanks for the video GamezofWar. I love to hear your insight on games. After seeing your collection videos I always add games to my wish list. I'd of never of even heard of a good chunk of these games if not for this video. I was late to the DS & 3DS party but I'm really enjoying the handhelds. Thanks again Man!
I still have two Castlevania ds cases with manuals and inserts. One day I hope to find the ds games in good condition and for a good deal lol. Let's just say at a game store they weren't going to keep the cases. I was there at the right place and time and asked if I could have them since they were about to be tossed in the trash. Great ds collection. :)
Oh wow, Black Sigil graphics really do look like Chrono Trigger. I might have to find a copy of that! Very awesome video man, the DS and 3DS are my favorite handheld systems, you've definitely brought to my attention some games I had never heard of before. I need to make a list of some of these!
A superb collection. The DS has such a wide variety of gems it's unreal. I was a late adopter of the DS as I wasn't sold on the system initially. I started picking up for it when I got the Castlevania games and kind of went from there. I'm proud of my DS collection as I've managed to get pretty much all the games I was after. I'm not much of an rpg guy, my focus was mainly on 2d side scrollers/ run and gun type games. Speaking of which I noticed you lacked two great games I think you'd like. Commando Steel Disaster is very much a Metal Slug clone and just as hard. Also Batman Brave and the Bold is another gem from wayforward. I have a couple of DS collection vids on my channel if you want to check them out. I have a few other titles you might want to look into.
Not sure what it goes for now as I picked up mine a few years ago. I had to import it as well as it was a US exclusive and I'm in the uk so I had to factor cost. Back then I think I got mine for around $25 with shipping. At the time there weren't that many copies on ebay either. Things might be different now though.
Awesome collection. Saw a lot of stuff I have or plan to get at some point in there and some other stuff I gotta look into now. My DS collection was always rather small but it looks like it's going to expand quite a bit over the next couple years if I get everything that's on my radar now.
Your collection is very expansive and I do own quite a few games for that system as well but there are a few games I noticed that were missing that I'm surprised you didn't own. I notice you don't have any of the ds advance wars games such as dual strike and days of ruin. My favorite ds game of all time isn't on your list as well known as the world ends with you. Bangai-O spirits is another game I love for the ds as well. It's like you said at the end of your video Josh, there are still a ton of games you still need to ad to your collection I hope in time you can find them and they cater to your personal tastes.
I have tried and couldn't get into TWEWY, just not my kinda game..Advance Wars I didn't really enjoy the army/military theme, fire emblem is much more my speed!
Hey man, just want to say that I really enjoy the content and delivery on your channel. Thanks for doin' it! Been a long time since I got into a portable experience, will have to pick something off this list for the old DS Lite
Ok as you can see in all the comments that I'm leaving on your different videos, I'm going through all of them in a very short time... which is adding hidden gems or unknown titles to my want list... which will make my wallet bleed a lot lol! That is an awesome collection and I would like to live in an alternate reality where I have the time to play all of them but it will never happen lol! Suikoden is my favorite series (think as the same level as Lunar for you) and the one on the DS was shunned by 'fans' because it wasn't following the normal time line of the other games... but it's an amazing game using the same mechanics as the other ones! Great video and keep up the good work!
I definitely gonna pick up Luminous Arc, Avalon Code, FFIV and Golden sun! In video you showed many interesting DS titles, that I have to check out! Thanks. :D
great collection video. the DS is awesome with many great stuff i dont hear people talk about. i even learned about a few i did not knew about like lost in blue and last window for an example. nostalgia was pretty enjoyable RPG for me. hell yeah radiant historia rules just started to play it
There was an indie developer working on a Porco Rosso homebrew game that looked truly amazing, but for reasons I forgot, the team had to stop development ): I just wish they could've released a demo. I think they also had it working on real hardware too rip ):
Around 2013-2016 I started collecting for the DS, I shit you not I bought most of my games for 10-15 USD CIB, a couple of years later I started selling them, now these games are hilariously expensive, I've been trying to re-collect my favorites but Dragon Quest and Castlevania games are just too damn expensive, I got Portrait of Ruin for 50 USD just because the box wasn't in the best condition
I thought I was the only person that has played Tokyo Beatdown!! That's Is a good game that nobody knows about!! We have very similar taste...and for that I will subscribe👍
I recently have been picking up lots of 3ds games. I think right now is the best time to collect before it gets to original game boy levels of expensive.
In terms of first person dungeon crawlers, you need to check out the Etrian Odyssey games. And for adventure, mystery games I recommend checking out Flower Sun and Rain, it's made by the team that made Killer7 and No More Heroes.
Ya know it's funny..back then the etrian odyssey games were not my thing. I tried them on the DS and didn't care for them, however I like the first 2 remakes on the 3DS with the added story modes...the Untold series of games, I really enjoy the added story modes. Flower Sun and Rain I just couldn't get into at all..
What is the song you have in the background (in the beginning)? I don't know if the ticking is supposed to be in the song but for some reason it really adds an atmospheric feel to it. I enjoyed the review but i stayed to listen to this background song as well.
John's Kite it's a track from Root Letter on the PS Vita....that ticking noise was my old shit camera, lol!! Check out the Root Letter soundtrack tho...fantastic!!!
Excellent video. Is that XL black or burgundy? Pretty jealous if black! Do you find yourself using different systems to play different types of DS games? 3DS to play Fighting Fantasy for the thumbpad, etc.
Nice collection but the lack of Mario, Zelda and Pokémon titles it's really weird. Also not Fire Emblem and other big SRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is weird too considering your tastes. You should get SMT Devil Survivor 1 & 2, awesome games, or even better get the 3DS version for both games, I can't remember if you have show them on your past videos.
Yea have both devil survivor games on 3DS...fire emblem I have it in the display case with the entire series...forgot to pull it out for the video,hehe... Don't care for Pokemon games or stylus Zelda.... Thanks for watching man!
1George2 if you check out my buyers guides, i have gameplay, I plan to do a DS one in the near future... The Vita one is damn near an hour long, just takes so much time!
I always think (and I'm wrong) that I'm the only one to own a CIB copy of "Little Red Riding Hood's Zombi BBQ" lol. I need to get that Mega Man Zero Collection. A shame that many games I miss for my collection were not released in Europe. Shipping fees are a bitch. :/ Is the Lost in Blue series really worth playing? Had never heard of Time Hollow before, might give it a try.
Time Hollow is an amazing game if you like that style of visual novel/point n click gameplay....I would say pick up the first Lost in Blue(it's cheap)if you enjoy it, you will love the other 2 in their series..just more of a good thing!
If I buy the 3DS xl will I be able to play the older DS titles? I'm asking because I'm thinking of getting the new one to play dragon quest VII. But then I saw the other dragon quests in your collection and my eyes got wider my adrenaline started to pump and I drooled a little bit. I think I would get those.
Thank you for cool games! Again! I never heard it before! Also my favorite is Trace Memory! Subscribe! upd: Electroplankton! My 2 years old daughter has been playing it!))
GamezOf War yeah Will ferrew, and red hot chili Peppers drummer too you are a multi celebrit cover. your Chanel is Very good keep the Nice work peace from anexo brazilian watching from united Arab emirates
Awesome video! I like you don't use any kind of stupid intro pretending to be a tv show. Never do an Intro for your videos please! Other than that, great collection of games, I'll have to check some of those I've never heard of.
