He said it like he found his dad's playboy magazines. To be fair, the graphics were amazing for the time not to mention a save feature which was cutting edge back then.
Same here, born in 82 and got my NES for Christmas when I was 5. I had played a bunch of games at my babysitter's house so I was already familiar with the games I got, but I still remember how it felt to open that present.
@@party4keeps28 my only prior exposure to video games before that was Atari, and we knew how those graphics were. God, I miss the days when simple things amazed me.
I saw it a couple of times at home by some kids from school. We never had consoles, my first game I played at home was prince of Persia with weird colors.
born in 1978 but its about same only had atari 2600 since 1983, one day think was 1986 or 1987 can't remember but went to friends house who had super mairo bros, after that wanted it.
When I was 4 or 5 I was dying for an NES for Christmas, after opening all my presents I didn't get it and was pretty bummed, then my dad said he thinks he sees another present behind the chair. IT WAS AN NES! One of my fondest childhood memories.
True, no Apple Mobile Devices just Apple Computers, Nintendos we’re true gaming instead of ROBLOX. There wasn’t a messy Video sharing Platform RU-vid, everything was simple and professional.
@@ikec2894 you missed out. The games back in the late 80's and 90's were so much greater than the games these days. I remember being up at 2am in the morning and playing super mario RPG. The sounds and music were so great.
back then, gaming didnt have EULA agreements and this and that and legal jargon just to play co op with a buddy lol. no internet. just video game magazines and maybe a few video game tv review shows on mornings in most major cities - it was a time of no cell phones, no tablets, no internet, and people actually went out, in real life, had fun. u rented or swapped games with friends or relatives. or heard via word of mouth about a hot new game. or read reviews in magazines. u just pop the cart in, play, that was it. sometimes technology gets "better" and in my opinion, it can make some things worse instead of better. i have a PS5 i play, sure, but older games are quick, charming fun. even today. many people today long for the simple days of gaming again. i know i do. i have plenty of retro games at my fingertips, but the original experience of watching these commercials for the first time, playing the games for the first time.. thats an era long gone now.
Born in 77. After playing the atari the nes blew our minds! Then snes was amazing! Playstation came out when I was in high school and we thought Nintendo was dead. Then, my freshman year in college n 64. I swear every other dorm room had goldeneye on n 64 emanating from it. I can't convey how huge goldeneye was in 97-98
This is what I played as a kid that's why I get mad when kids talk about today's graphics like if they suck. They didn't get to see the evolution of graphics like we did.
As a 14 year old starting a retro game collection I really appreciate graphics from any era because all of those games took hard work to make no matter the era
“Your parents help you hook it up.” As babies, our toys were all about matching corresponding shapes and colors. Did they really think us older kids couldn’t figure out an RCA connection?
True… but I think some of us (me) would have found a way to botch it up if we didn't understand how any of it worked. These days, it shouldn't be too hard, especially with the aid of the Internet, but not all of us may recognize that the RCA connection is a simple Match The Color game and wind up disassembling a perfectly good television set and calling the local fire department.
There was also RF, which can be a bit finicky to put in correctly. Not to mention, if you're holding the power adapter incorrectly, you might shock yourself while plugging it in.
That Fester's Quest commercial reminded me of how utterly difficult that game was as a kid. Totally unforgiving and sent you right back to the beginning upon death. I can say tho that if you lived during that era then most games you play these days though beautiful are very easy to beat bc of that Nintendo training as a kid.
yeah super mario duck hunt and contra super c was amazing games i play them lot whan i was kid and i say to myself one day i will wannna see and play again this old days and now i rly wanna it was amazing childhood what i have dam it this games was good
I still don't see t hem making a remake to Captain N the game master cartoon or anime these days. Remember those back in the day? It's what made growing up in the 80's so good.
6:46 Fun House! I used to love that show! Must admit it's kind of a hard watch now but it was great as a kid back in the day and no one ever talks about it.
I was born in ‘84. The first video game I ever saw, played and eventually owned was Super Mario Bros.. Still one of the all-time greats thirty-nine years later.
Seeing these commercials makes me want to buy one even though I never played on it but I seriously want one this is a pretty cool system always will be
I am a kid again right before Christmas. Yeah!!! I loved growing up with Nintendo and Christmas.I was 12 when the NES was released. I remember all these commercials so well. Thank you.
An era long gone now... miss these days intensely. I still play retro games to this day, of course not as much as my PS5. But I get nostalgic and pop in a retro game a few times a week and play. It's similar to when your parents might put on an old 40s or 50s or 60s record and play it, because they still have an old record player around for sentimental reasons. Same goes for retro gaming.. I get sentimental, nostalgic.. pop in Super Mario World or Golden Axe or Super C or I grab a stool and play one of the many arcade games I actually have in my house. It's a quick nostalgic trip. Games today are fun, 3D, deep, realistic.. but nothing can match grabbin a turbo control pad and zoomin thru Contra in 20 minutes.
I kind of realize what made this era so great wasn't the game but the trip to Toys r Us and being able to select the games you want and driving back home. Definitely good memories to have of your parents. The last PS4 game I bought I remember I came home and had to wait like an hour as it downloaded various files. Downloading a game from an online store meant you wasted half a day just downloading the dang thing. Not as exciting as it once was.
Those toys r us Commerical are good that will make you cry a little right maybe about that it could make you fell about your grandparents like this and memories with the stuff and commercials
I am not trying to put a lot okay I was just wondering about your thoughts of the toys r us nes commercial okay it would make someone cry and it makes them feel good
@@jakeknapp6833 Yes! The commercials are very nostalgic. I grew up in the 80s and my first big present I remember for Christmas that I will never forget was the original NES in like 1986! Best Xmas ever. Toys 'R' Us was amazing to go to as little kid in the 80s too. Merry Christmas!
I never knew fester quest came with a disclaimer in the commercial, that the game was hard, and you had to start over if you died. Suddenly, I don't feel robbed of my childhood...
I still have my NES from 1989. Got it for my 10th birthday. Ironically enough, Nintendo turned 100 that year! I also have the 1993 top-loading NES as well as the 1983 Famicom and the 1993 A/V Famicom, imported from Japan. Now all I need is the Famicom Disk System!
8:40 I'm surprised that Super C (Contra 2) is the game that would be featured on the NES classic game compilation instead of the original Contra which is the most memorable game of the NES Contras.
Hey I have a question to you you know back in the day in the in the '90s my dad played Contra 2 on the NES he did see the SNES commercial but he likes the SNES more because the NES was old Contra 2 was a game of war and fighting and swords
That's funny. I was just reading about him earlier, he did the voice of Toxie in the Toxic Crusaders cartoon. I've been in a youtube hole this morning lol
I loved getting the NES for Christmas back in 1988, best present ever!!! If you played, what were your favourite games? Mine were Metroid, SMB 2 and 3, T&F II :)
Track and field 2 was the bomb back in the day. Metroid, Super Mario 123, Zelda 1&2, Bionic Commando, Castlevania 123, Final fantasy, Dragon Warrior 1234, Mike Tyson's punch out,Contact,Super Contra,I mean really I need to stop bc I could go on for days 😂😆
I used to watch this show that had 3 contestants and you competed playing videogames. The winner of the episode got to fun through a little game store setup with a Velcro type shirt of sorts and grab as many games as you could stick to the Velcro shirt. Got to keep all the games as the reward for winning. I can't think of the name of it now for nothing but I'm about to Google it since I'm on break at work and it's on my mind 😆
Happy 40th Anniversary (7/15/1983-2023) Nintendo Entertainment System /Famicom The best video game console ever, whose console and library changed the world!
im glad cause he was one of the more level headed people during the "RU-vid Console Wars" during 360/PS3/Wii generation and it brings back a lot of fun memories from high school and right thru college.
Wish this video was all of the english NES commercials. I know of vidos longer than this that don't seem to have them all one of them is around a hour long and I don't know words in Japanese.
I didn't grew up with them I wish I could I know for people born in the 70s remember these commercials okay also I am from Ohio I am 16 my birthday is in May
