This is something I always try to get through to people. People always think Nintendo is able to release so many games just because they aim for lower level graphics or because they're just better than other companies. In reality it takes Nintendo just as long to make games as anyone else; It was 6 years between BOTW to TOTK, 4 years between Mario Maker 2 and Mario Wonder, 5 years between Splatoon 2 and 3. We almost always get just one smash bros, animal crossing, 3D Mario, and Mario Kart game per generation. Those are Nintendo's core series and it takes forever for new games to come out. What makes Nintendo different is they have so many partner developers to make spinoffs, side games and smaller games in between Nintendo's big releases. Which is exactly what we all want. Nintendo wouldn't be nearly as fun if all we had were mainline AAA games like Odyssey and BOTW; having so much different games to play is part of what makes them so special. Of course not all of them are going to be of the same quality, but the choice is great.
@@Pyrple very well said. And I also think this level of foresight allows them to avoid droughts. It also bolsters relations with other corporations which is always a good thing (I also think it’s better than just outright purchasing teams).
Absolutely yes, the AA approach with lower budget games from partners supervised by Nintendo workers is such a great idea, they don't have to put huge AAA bugdets on partners, got the creative grip, and get a steady release of more scaled down but amazing games...
1) the speedrun is done by minimini352 2) smh Nintendo announced the Famicom Detective Club game today, but iirc, the 2021 remakes were handled by Mages (Japanese studio), so probably the point stands that it won’t be primarily done by a Nintendo team
@@AzureOtsu yeah I think there’s a chance it’s all in-house, but the 2021 remakes were done in collab with Mages, a smaller Japanese studio. I think it’s equally likely that following their collaboration in 2021, Nintendo deemed them reliable partners and decided to proceed with a new title together.
@@mateus53415 you’re right that it was first conceived of by Nintendo. Also, Nintendo owns 99% of ND Cube’s shares, but the studio itself is comprised of its own employees separate from Nintendo’s EPD groups.
Honestly, it makes sense that they are shifting focus on Switch 2(and possibly an NSO update). They clearly do not need to support Switch 1 anymore, the ball keeps rolling hard. Especially Mario where one would expect internal developmet, but all the external devs surprisingly came back for their part(RPG was made by what is appearently a Square C-team of sorts, Ttyd is IS as always and M&L has at least part of the original team from Alphadream on board.)
