I didn't preorder but was so lucky that someone cancelled and I picked up a red one. Then the next day I rang around and picked up another red one!! Yay. Now I'm giving one to my son for his birthday. I bought him a red gameboy colour and Pokemon red for his birthday back 20 years ago. He still has it. Now he will have this to go with it 😊 They look beautiful. I'm glad I got red!
I was so jealous of other parts of the world when these were announced. I always loved transparent Nintendo consoles, so one of these would have been amazing to get. I also love the theme of representing all 4 gen 1 games by giving the A, B, X, Y buttons different colors
Inflated prices on e-bay, thats the big problem with that site and it will destroy it i'm sure. Just on another topic have you seen the amazing looking Cobi Titanic set. I have seen it in Hobbyco in SYD, but I did not buy it. I was quite surprised to see Cobi there for sale. It can be very difficult o find ever since Boarders books closed up years ago.
+leokimvideo Hi Leo, hope you're well. eBay certainty is hit and miss these days. Very high prices, high seller fees. They're only saving grace is that there is no good competition here. I have actually seen the COBI Titanic (I have 2 of them haha - 1 built and 1 in the shed). I bought them from Popcultcha a few years ago. It's a very nice looking set, though it has a few too many stickers. I've been spending most of my 'block' money on COBI tanks lately. I don't know if I ever showed you my collection: flic.kr/p/Ci6dih LEGO sets are getting too expensive and too small for my taste. I've cut right back.
+S3ISOR Lego are expert in CLEVER downsizing, they have been introducing loads of small bricks into the designs. I dare say to be employed by them as a designer you need to design sets that use as many small bricks to bring the brick count up to cover what's going on. There was a Lego RU-vidr who exposed this downsizing really well but she turned into a mass upload spam RU-vidr, so lets not mention her name. Lego need to make a profit and there is no law against that. From what I hear they are one of the few toy makers making good profits with the iGeneration kids. Mattel and Hornby are really having a bad time now. Lego also made the most awesome toy commercial with The Lego Movie. And the income from that alone would really make the bottom line shine. I have not seen Mattel, Hornby or Hasbro make a full length feature film thats the perfect ad for their toys. The Toy Story films can't count because that income goes to the money sinkhole and all consuming Disney. Maybe Star Wars was also a good toy advert, but again Disney take the major cut. Transformers films are also there, but do they really sell that many toys. Anyway there are loads of adult themes in the adult Transformers films.
+leokimvideo Yeah, LEGO certainly are making a lot of money and seem to have the market worked out. At the end of the day, their product is very good quality. But it is disappointing that they seem to be so driven by profits. They are a family-owned company, so they shouldn't be driven by profits and downsizing and margins as much as a normal corporation in my opinion. Ah well, it's only inevitable that one day the hype will die down and LEGO will have to re-evaluate. Sadly for us Australians, I've noticed their set prices have started rising again in 2016. Some $39.99 sets are now $44.99, and so on. It's very unfair that we cop these prices on the nose.
hello this video is so relaxing and i love the fact that you tell us a bit about your life, i have this video playing for study and tomorrow maybe i will buy a 2ds for my girlfiend, i feel so happy, thank youu
I do love how they used the red, blue, yellow, and green buttons to represent the 4 original Pokémon games. However, I wonder why they didn’t make a GREEN Special Edition for the grass types?
Awesome catch. Gonna get the Yellow and the Blue one today. Deciding to use the blue one (to play on) and keep the yellow in box for collectors purposes aswell. =)
I'm so glad I got all 3 of them from EB Games. I'm just surprised that they were sold out fast, especially the yellow version as people didn't expect these 2DS consoles to sell out quick. Pokemon Yellow was also my first Pokemon game I bought out of my own money!!
I didn't know Jb were selling them :o I'm still waiting for all 3 of mine to come in the mail as i pre ordered them from EB but the consoles look sick! Awesome video as usual
+LlamaKrys Thanks mate, I appreciate you nice comment :) I don't think JB had many left, and they never made any fanfare about selling them. The pre-sold out most of the consoles, especially yellow. The transparent colours look fantastic in real life! I was very impressed. I might have to break my rule and start playing on one haha.
It would be so badass if the next nintendo handheld console screen pulls out like a switchblade. But with the switch out, I think it would be best for the company to work on a phone console hybrid. There are two systems, one is the phone while the other is the handheld attachment meant for extra battery, cartidge gaming, etc.
A store in my city (Dubai) had four of each console and no one except for me has bought any of them. it's the same like that with amiibo - they still have loads of villagers and wii fit trainers :p
Ayy I live in Dubai too! I recently purchased Black 2 from somewhere in Meena Bazaar (Bur Dubai I think) They had original Diamond and Pearl FACTORY SEALED they were like 250 dhirams so I had to pass, because I don't like DP anyways even though they're rare. Funny how the store which had real games from a decade ago but had fake Pokemon cards of a set from last year.
Also I'm one of those rare collectors in Dubai. Also collectors aren't rare. They just don't exist in our schools XD. I know a place in Jumeira where in Pokemon fans gather on Thursdays
GamingRainbow Which school do you go to? In my school where I hang out (Library) I had this guy come up to me and show me his Pokemon cards and he had a Shaymin EX (The most expensive card on the market atm) Also the age group of those people is like 20 or something but some of them are like 12 or 14-15 (I'm 16 and i don't go to Battlezone regularly, the shop in Jumeira)
This Guy I don't understand the high prices around this console. I'm sure the hype will die off in time. Maybe Nintendo will realise they are so popular and make more. But who really knows. Some guy that works at EB posted his listing (for $600+) while he was at work. It's a tough situation, I know that we live in a free market, and people are entitled to buy and sell for a profit. But if a console is going to be this limited, people should be limited to 1 per person.
Hi, I also live in Australia. I preordered the Blue version the day after they came out on preorder and they only had 2 of any of the consoles left! Unfortunately, mine hasn't come in the mail yet but I did get a message saying "Your product has been sent".
It's kinda frustrating that you can't get the unique pokemon themes that comes with the special 2ds's and the pokemon themed new 3ds at the theme store. Would love to pay money for those, BUT I CAN'T!
Interesting how these consoles are so rare. By March 5th when Twilight Princess HD comes out the consoles will probably be sold out at my local EB Games. I'd be surprised if they are still in stock at that time.
+alipareedanse12 My local EB only got the consoles for pre-orders, they didn't have any spares. I picked my yellow up 10 minutes after opening, and they'd already had several people in asking for them. It really sucks for genuine Pokemon fans.
S3ISOR At first I didn't care but watching this video changed my opinion. Now I think they look really nice but they may release a bundle with Pokemon Sun or Moon.
+Ciaran Hurdwell Yeah I was hoping to get those as well, they look pretty cool. But ah well, we got the 2DS consoles instead. I'm hoping we'll get a special edition New 3DS (or XL) with Pokemon Sun and Moon later in the year.
+S3ISOR Hopefully they become available separately but for now I'm probably get the sprite cover plate. Do you happen to know if it's a matte or gloss on those plates?
Ciaran Hurdwell I didn't open the packaging, but looking at the reflections, I'm almost certain it's gloss. I was going to comment on it in the video but decided against it.
Great detailed video, which is your favorite Pokemon 2DS Color? also as you are keeping your Pokemon 2DS's as collectibles how/will you be maintaining the chargeable batteries ? will you charge them once a year or are you not too concerned about the batteries?
+Joseph Tiziano Thank you for your comment. My favourite colour is yellow (just because of the game associated with it). If I had to pick based purely on colour, I'd almost be inclined to choose the blue or red one - they both look really nice. Which one is your favourite? I hadn't really thought about the batteries, but I've read someone online say you should charge them every 6 months. I've got quite a few other older consoles and I only charge the batteries every other year (when I want to play them again). How do you maintain your batteries?
+S3ISOR I wanted the Pokemon 2DS Yellow but was sold out very very quickly so I pre-ordered the Pokemon 2DS Red which I just received and I am very happy with. I have almost two of every NDS handheld's I have two DS Lite's, two DSi XL's, two 3DS's, two 3DS XL's, three 2DS's, two New 3DS's, and by the 24th this month three 3DS XL's. The reason I have two of each is that if one fails I have a replacement unit to use. With the batteries I read they should be 50% charged as this will place less stress on the battery and will extend battery life I have not charged my spares yet but I think I will charge them once a year.
Joseph Tiziano Oh wow, you have quite a collection , nice! The Red console looks great, I'm glad you're happy with it too. I'll probably try and keep mine charged once a year now too.
Yeah I know, having the Pokemon 20 logo would have made them perfect. I'm still pretty happy with them. They're nice colours and something a bit unusual. I think in 10 years the 2DS might become a bit of a novelty, potentially like then Gameboy Light.
I'm thinking of getting the blue version (still available here in the UK but not for long!) due to the pokemon available on that game are more what I like to play with, was just wondering if anyone knew of any other big differences between red and blue apart from the pokemon?
will these Australian/European 2ds's play games from the U.S. I really want the green 1 but no point if I can't play any of my games because its Japanese region locled
Grabbed yellow from my local store in the uk. They said only those who pre ordered got one and that hardly anybody did. They only got 2 in themselves. The red and blue are only available from nintendo uk and amazon and theyre all sold out on amazon. The only place to get red and blue now is nintendo uk and theyll be sold out tomorrow!
+LeviSyler Nice choice! I'm glad you got one. It's crazy how popular these consoles are - I never anticipated this level of interest. But maybe Nintendo could have with all their marketing?
+S3ISOR decided to grab red and blue too. Yeah I study marketing at university and I cannot make sense of it. My gut reaction is that they didn't anticipate the demand for 20 year old graphics in the west! Im so glad I grabbed them all now though, ebay prices are disgusting man. They will be staying boxed and sitting alongside my 24 other boxed pokemon games! Nice video btw!
LeviSyler Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. :) Yeah I keep all my pokemon gear boxed or in perfect condition. But it's not to sell, just to keep for my own enjoyment in the future. I think you're right, I also didn't think most people would've cared greatly about 20 year old games, or even a 2DS. It seems most people don't even buy the 2DS, they are always on clearance prices for under $100AUD. Maybe the announcement that you can transfer Pokemon from the virtual console games to the new Sun and Moon games via Pokemon Bank has peaked interest... but really, who knows. With this much interested I'd almost expect Nintendo to do another run of the limited edition consoles, so other fans can get their hands on one without paying ridiculous scalping prices.
jake tdog Yeah, ik. It's just that I think this would be a better deal than the special edition for US, I mean a transparent 2DS sounds more enticing than the 3DS. And the price would be more manageable, sadly.
hello there! nice unboxing and overview, im really exited about this console. Im thinking about picking one up but I live in canada, so my only options are to order it from amazon uk or Japan. I plan to own it as a collection item and i was wondering if you could give me some advice. i can either order the EU version with "PAL" region lock and english packaging, for a total price of 88 pounds. Or grab the japan version with "NTSC" region lock and japanese packaging for 99 pounds. Im really not sure which one to go for?
+idkthetime That's a tough one... if it's purely a collectable item there's probably no 'right' choice. Do you prefer the box art of the EU version or the Japanese version? I personally prefer the EU version because it matches the original box art for the west. Also, if you were intending on playing the 2DS in the future (or selling it), I'd get the EU version, because the included game will be in English and not Japanese. And you'll be able to play games on an EU version from Australia, UK, Europe and New Zealand. Whereas the Japanese version is just Japanese games.
My little cousin got the yellow 2ds for his birthday and he wanted to play the game and Thot his game was downloaded so he threw away code because it was junk to him and when he saw another video about this he started to cry at Christmas
+Horror Addict Nice, congrats on the purchase! I can't believe how popular these have suddenly become. I didn't think their would be must interest in these 2DS consoles. But it turns out people want them like mad!
Sewer Penguin Nice! Thanks for the comment :) I hope you've been enjoying your Blue. I've played about 8 hours of yellow and have 3 badges. I'm taking my time and really enjoying it.
+S3ISOR Awesome! Hasn't even arrived yet though. Playing Witcher 3 at the moment and while I don't usually play more than one game at a time, I can make an acception for Pokemon. Also Blue is something I can take with me. Haha! Glad you're enjoying yours. :)
Hi there. I actually have a Pokemon blue limited edition 2DS with Pokemon blue pre-installed with 3 language options. Charger and Rare stickers included. If you’re interested I can lower the price since there’s no box. www.ebay.ie/itm/Transparent-Pokemon-Blue-Limited-Edition-Nintendo-2DS-Charger-Rare-Stickers-/363532339057?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=5282-175127-2357-0
+Clay Morrow I'm not sure. Someone else in the comments mentioned the Pokemon Blue 2DS is slightly 'lighter' in colour when compared to Alpha Sapphire. So I'd guess the same difference might be true for the red version.
I think its silly when i see the prices of some Nintendo games and product's sky high when it comes to the common ones they sold plenty enough to not be rare but when it comes to limited runs that's a whole another thing but if it sells allot don't know why Nintendo does not mas produces these they print money.
+labelr I would've loved to have seen Nintendo release the special edition 3DS and 2DS in all regions. I would've liked to have gotten the American 3DS, but ah well... I have to many consoles as it is...
You bought each one as well? :D Well, yellow seems to be out of stock almost everywhere in France but Red and Blue are still available for 99€ each, so I'm currently hesitating :(
Another thing i dont understand is am glad nintendo does these 20 anniversary things but it doesnt make since for me that they would bring back red blue yellow on the virtual console and the systems if they said that the battlefrontier wasn't put into oras because it was to challenging for todays kids and gamers and the players that played the origanals are irrelevant today but i really hope there is a difficult setting for sun&moon my bad if i bother u with the comments
+Kenny Valdovinos I agree, I hope there is a hard setting for the new games. I think the games have gotten very easy over the years, which makes them slightly less enjoyable for me (as an adult player). I'd love for it to have a 'very hard' setting, where the level of wild Pokemon and trainers dynamically scale to the level of your own Pokemon.
Kenny Valdovinos Yeah, the latest games are very easy. I didn't realise how easy the games had become until I've started playing the original Yellow again. The original games are a lot more challenging, especially for kids.

DustlessYeti 76 Bugger! I'd keep chasing them. I got the guys to check the stock on hand on their computer system. They are hopefully doing an in-store transfer for you.
hopefully ive been really depressed cause i wasnt in aus when eb sold out and then i saw jb hi fi was getting them so i pre ordered there and im still waiting
+NinoSucio That's true sadly, consoles bought in Australia are locked to Australia/Europe/New Zealand and the UK. Consoles from Japan are locked to Japan only. And then there is the American group. So sadly, if you bought a 2DS from any region other than the US, it wouldn't work with your existing games. It might be possible to use 'homebrew' or custom firmware to run games from other regions, but I'm not sure how to do this.
Awesome video just frusterated about nintendo of America not bringing those 2ds to north America we didn't get the standard new 3ds here so i just ended up buy ing the animal crossing new 3ds since i didnt think we would get a new 3ds here and all for me that they gave us here was a pokemon cover plate and thats it with the box art with a basic white n3ds and i just feel that nintendo doesnt care about us anymore i really like the box art of those special edition 2ds but overall i enjoyed your video
+Kenny Valdovinos Thanks for your nice comment! :) It's a shame Nintendo aren't appealing to their customers in the US. At least you got an Animal Crossing 3DS though. Have you been playing the virtual console Pokemon games?
Kenny Valdovinos I think they look pretty exciting. We haven't really seen to much yet though, but for any new generation of games there's always new and exciting changes. I don't understand what the 'moon' and 'sun' stories will be though. I do hope that the game has better graphics and plays faster with better FPS, especially in 3D. What do you think?
Well i would like to see 2 or more regions a battle with red and other previous protagonist hoenns battlefrontier a difficulty setting more post game and well i know these features proubly wont be added idk i got to see more of the game i personally haven't really been playing much of pokemon since nintendo slacked they put no battlefrontier in oras gen 6 didnt really appeal to me but yeah i feel that the last traditional pokemon series was diamond and pearl
is there no way for me to get these in America?!! I could care less about the versions we got in America, I just want the Yellow ads version!! And if i do import will it only play European games?!!! Like id have to import everything for it?
+jake Ryan You could import from Australia, Japan or Europe, but the Australia/Europe/Great Britain consoles are locked to that region, and Japanese are locked to Japan. Unfortunately there's no way to get a Pokemon 2DS to work with your USA games (as far as I know). Sorry mate
+This Guy Yeah I agree, it's nice that Australia gets some more attention... though to be honest, I sometimes wonder if our attention is just a by-product of more attention in the Europe market (which we seem to piggy back off)
Thanks forgetting back with me guys. Lol i am all too aware that half the time the PAL Region gets screwed over, and America seems to get what everyone wants. Unfortunately for me this time around I would love a Pokemon Yellow 2DS :( sucks to be me i guess. Enjoy your awesome 2DS versions guys :D
+This Guy Yeah, I preordered the same day (or next day) after they were announced. I don't take any changes these days (especially with Nintendo). If I want something, I preorder as early as I can so I don't have to worry about it. Usually I pay small amounts off my preorders at EB each week too. It's kind of like a reverse layby :)
Also are you planning on to do a face review? I got the black + blue 2ds with mario kart 7 and scribblenauts. i think scribble nauts is useless in my opinion.
