It's pathetic they won't support the game and won't let other people support it either. This whole panda Nintendo circuit has been radio silent for 5 months I doubt that comes to anything
In all seriousness, you would have to ask those who would then purchase Nintendo's liquidated IP assets. In this hypothetical, I could see that buyer very likely being Disney and maybe Sony or Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard, but if it's any of them ( *especially* Disney), or really any company with that kind of money (and then ownership over such profitable assets), you may as well kiss the dream of public domain Melee/Smash goodbye for eternity or until a literal political revolution.
