I actually really like how subtle the back is, coloured main bodies make them look weird when using different joycons and also draw too much attention. I dont like using the limited joycons when im out of the house because i dont want to damage them since it would be difficult to replace and are more likely to get my switch stolen
Exactly it works with any JoyCon, and not only that but the back of the JoyCon being white means they’ll look good on almost any switch as well. Nintendo is really thinking about compatibility here.
@chaoscolby I don't really think the scarlet violet switch looks bad, but I prefer something that doesn't stand out as much, and I also don't always use the limited edition joycons unless I'm at home since I don't want to lose or damage them and the purple and red back doesn't go well with other coloured joycons, I primarily use a blue and orange pair of joycons when I am out of the house because they are my 2 favorite colours(other than pink but I don't like the pink Joy cons colour) and the bright blue wouldn't look good with the purple and the orange colours don't match with the SV switch
i like the subtle black detailing on the main body. not distracting and doesnt age itself quickly. its neutral and doesnt make it look like a childrens toy
This looks way better in person than pictures and videos give it justice. Personally I really like the green because it’s way more interesting than black or any other color they could have chosen to go with gold.
Buy this on and if they make a new switch model then keep the Coolio Zelda one and display it. I own the new Zelda one and the animal crossing one. And whenever they make a new console I will just move them to display units. Unless the next console isn’t backwards compatible.
I was just like you but by providence my local GameStop had 4 left to reserve when I asked about the collectors edition game. I decided to just get the system as I love Zelda and I must say I felt like I just came out of a dark cave into the sun lol!!! It’s so premium compared to the og battery eating Switch.
I really like it! The left joycon isn't doing it for me (maybe bad color combo, maybe lack of green anywhere else) but if this was the system i picked up i would enjoy leaving it as the centerpiece of my entertainment center.
Totally agree with the left joy con. Have ordered it myself, but I will probably get some white joy cons to use with it instead. The console and dock looks amazing tho Also not a huge fan of the right joy con either. Definitely better than the left, but the gold on white on the dock looks a lot better than the white on gold on the joy con imo
I want to get one sooo badly. I've picked up I think all of the special edition accesories for Zelda throughout the Switch generation but I just don't have the money for the OLED switch currently lol
I think the main body should have been white and gold to suit the joycon, only the Mario switch had the main body red other always been black if I recall correctly
When I see that green pattern on the JoyCon, the backwards auto tune chanting immediately pops into my head. The white gold though just looks so awesome I wish it was on both of em lol. Gotta agree though, that dock is really the stand out here. 👏
I agree, the Switch looks beautiful for 720p or even 1080p when on a TV/Monitor, but it's been using hardware from 2017 ever since. It's not bad hardware, but with consoles like the PS5 or Xbox being able to output 4k or even 8k, it just isn't up there. I think we need at least 1440p 60+ fps. Nintendo focuses on fun instead of the coolest looking, overpowered console, which I can understand. You don't need that type of stuff to have fun in gaming, but it's nice to have.
Probably the best value switch you can buy rightnow as well Collectors will eat this shit up once its dried up and gone. Not scalping but if you were thinking about buying the switch 2 or whatever it's going to be called you can rest assure this will sell fast and easily.
Target had just one in stock yesterday so I grabbed it. I don't understand why Nintendo can't ever give us at least a white joycon controller grip...the wrist straps are white, the docks are white...why not the grip or even the console itself? It doesn't even have a small gold decal or anything, it's just the basic grip they probably have a whole warehouse packed full of. I would also like the front face of the dock to be taller so it could hide the bland only-black console sticking up.
The only good thing about the back of the Zelda OLED is that, from a distance, it looks like a regular Switch, making it stand out less. Even then, you basically have to know about the circle design in the game to know what this console is.
i really need to get back into my special edition shopping game. i decided to forgo the collector's edition game because i only cared for the artbook and figured i'd buy that secondhand, but this is just something i didn't know about and definitely would have purchased right away. i remember losing sleep over getting the majora's mask 3DS lol

I picked up a bunch of skull & co accessories while waiting for my TOTK switch. The switch finally came yesterday and playing it in the grip is amazing
Honestly the back of the pokemon switch makes it look like a childrens toy to me. There is no way you are choosing to bring that specific switch out into public. This one looks heaps better and the subtle backing was perfect.
When OLED came out I *think* GameStop was giving $250 for older model trade in. On a Black Friday special they were giving $300... as someone that was going to spend $50 just for the new dock it was a no brainer: TRADE IN! I checked today to see what they are doing to trade in the OLED: $160... they are almost giving $200 for the Xbox Series S. Needless to say, I will be content to keep my white OLED and get a Zelda grip for the few times I play handheld. I haven't even played BOTW much, but want to play the new one.
I started playing BOTW again. Have already beat it but trying to get through the dlc. Such a relaxing game!! Can't wait for the new one. Also want to get my hands on one of these! I still have an OG switch.
I missed out on this one, I thought it was just meh. Had to cancel my preorder cuz I wasn't rly feeling it too much. My favourite parts were the back designs with the circles and the white joycon back with the small gold symbols that are like pseudo Chinese characters. But I felt like everywhere else was just too noisy for me. If I wanted noisy then I would have rather went with the Pokémon one with the cool and intentionally gnarly sticker-like back design (although I'm not particularly a new gen Pokémon fan so I wouldn't get that, either).
Mine is coming in so I'm exited!! Huge fan of Zelda games. I'm going to wait after the release of the game so more controller come back in stock like they always re stock like month later. Hopefully they restock the collector's edition game.
I just wished those special editions would include the game even if it's digitally then i would gladly pay $400 for it! I have my original OLED and i love it so i don't need these other editions especially if you're not going to add the game with the system!🎮🕹️🎮
I really didn't need one of these but I got one anyways. Once I got it in my hands though I was happy I did. Since I'm in Japan right now I could easily get it off amazon JP, and with the currency exchange rate it only cost me $308. Just going to sell my old Switch to a friend and at the end of the day I have the nicest looking Switch special edition for a good price.

Host is just nitpicking about colors on main body. It is perfectly fine, and that is all that needs to be said about it. This is what the back looks like - very nice - the end. No information about functionality. And what motion control will be like for this new Switch on motion games. And how motion control will be used for the new Zelda botw-2. I already received this console yesterday, but have not yet had the chance to activate it.
I am not a fan of the green on the left joycon. I think it would have looked nice if it were white. Also, the back of the Switch tablet would have been nice had the spirals been white or gold.
Look the only special editions I want to see Nintendo do again are Metroid and Fire Emblem since the 3DS is the only console to get those. Mario, Zelda and Animal Crossing are most likely already thought of for their next console.
I wish there was a splat on each side of the splatoon dock, with two different colors (the greenish one it already has and a purple one, to match the game colors). It feels so asymmetrical and plain with just the one splat
I see these every store I walk in over 100 of them I would bought it if I didn’t own a Nintendo Switch if it came with the game the Wii U came with game now Nintendo is making their consoles not coming with games charging $10 more but I don’t see it look as great as the Nintendo 64 gold looked like it was all gold so was the 3DS
I hadn't owned a switch yet, so I ended up buying this version. I actually love the subtle back and the dock is nice, but I really don't like the joycon design to be honest.
Sold my v2 switch, and want to upgrade to oled, but torn between pokemon or zelda :( the price different is about +-10 dollar more for the zelda any advice ?
Really want to get the Zelda oled version but not sure if I should get the white or red and blue oled ? I love zelda but just don’t know if zelda version it’s good enough?
