@@Vesta588 Oh god…how can you not laugh? I do agree with Stevie T. Puddle of Mudd is responsible for the coof. Too many people died from laughter after watching that video.
He was so nervous the night of that show, he had a hard time getting dope in New York City that week, could barely get any, and relied on taking a bit of Valium instead--he loosened up a bit as the show went on--anyway, in the end, despite his fear of being stripped down like that (no electric instruments ect, ect) he played his heart out cuz he’d been playing those songs for so long, they were a part of him, and it showed, and he pulled it off--he had a good friend at mtv (back when mtv was about music), a girl, I forget her name, but she always had nirvana’s back and fought for them when the network gave the band trouble (like telling them what to play at the vma’s and not wanting them to play “rape me”, ect, ect)--anyway, it was with this chick kurt was leaving the venue with, and they were in an elevator, and he told her “I don’t think I did too good”,,or something like that, and she said “kurt!.....they think you’re Jesus”--and he smiled, and said “I was pretty good, wasn’t I?”--so, in the end, he reluctantly admitted he did a good job, and was proud of himself--bottom line, for all his nerves and unease about this show,,he did an amazing job, because he WAS the music at this late point in his life, it was about all he had--great reaction, check out “where did u sleep last night” from this same show....Good stuff
In yer own time mate, I think you should sit back, chill out and listen to the whole album. Im hittin' 42 and Nirvana have been my favourite thing in the world, musically anyway, since I was 12. I remember rushing home from a day of school and work in a supermarket when I was 14 to watch the Premier of the Unplugged on MTV. The CD was released about 7 months after Kurt died, and again I recall buying it on the morning of release. With the Immortal Nevermind hitting 30 last week (!),its brilliant to see a younger audience catch up and settle into the band.
Yeah man. I'm 39. I remember hearing them from a friend when I was like 10 or 11 or something and I really liked it. My parents where weird as hell though. They didn't let me listen to modern rock and hip hop. I guess in their messed up brains they thought that isolating me from pop culture and thus all my friends would some how keep me safe or some shit..... They were nuts. When they finally let me hang out at other friend's houses (14 or 15 years old) my best friend played me a ton of Nirvana. (he lived literally one block away, any farther and I doubt I'd be able to go there)... We spent every night listening to it for hours. It was amazing.
Wow... same here, except I had some school thing so I had my dad tape it on VHS. Nirvana was the first band I loved. I still remember exactly where I was when I heard them for the first time.
There are those celebrities whose deaths felt both personal and wrong. Kurt was one for me, Heath Ledger is another. It's one of those things where you feel like you might've somehow slipped into the wrong timeline -- a far inferior timeline which should never have happened and which never stops feeling wrong. Maybe part of that is the lack of the usual closure people tend to get when people close to us die. Our relationships with celebrities aren't real relationships, but I don't think our instincts always know that.
@@jeffjones7108 I whole heartedly concur..I was in high school when Kurt Cobain died and I still remember to this day the effect it had on my friends and I who were big Nirvana fans...I remember the crying in the halls..it was a dark and somber time that some still feel to this day..I felt the same way when Dimebag Darrell Abbott was taking from the world as well..didn't even believe it or wanna believe it til I saw it for myself
as beautiful as kurt’s performance is, i still always smile at how dorky krist and dave are 😃 and it makes me happy that there are two foo fighters there on the stage 💜
Hey Big Hef..This song is where Cobain solidified his song writing skills and harnessed Beatles-like harmonies into a new kind of heavy yet catchy AF music!!! RIP KURT A TRUE GOAT INDEED...PEACE..
Kurt Cobain was amazing. I remember the first time that I heard one of his songs and hearing about his suicide when I was in high school. Every note and lyric executed emotion.
Without a single shadow of a doubt, THE most important musician of the last 30 or so years. Music wouldn’t be what it is today without Kurt. An unassuming genius.
This came on UK MTV, I was lying in my girlfriend's floor smoking a cigarette, she was sitting on me, singing along. great memories, great music. all that remains..
@@Bladedcloud6159 No, she wanted kids and stuff and frankly I couldn't look after myself. she had brains and dreams and I wasn't going to take a s**t on that. I told her she was worth a thousand me's and should find someone worth it, that wasn't me... I do regret that now, 30 years later...
I remember staying up and watching this live on MTV just sucked in by the performance. The covers they play and guest they have really made it amazing.
This song was on Nirvana's first album but did not become famous until the MTV unplugged version was released as a radio single. The unplugged album was different but it was so raw and emotional that it was like a farewell album. There were many covers with some of them becoming fan favourites. I think you should do a reaction to their albums just to see were they started. If you listen to their first album bleach, you would not think that they would become the biggest band of the 90s and still super popular to this day. Dave Grohl and Pat Smear with soon be inducted in to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame for the 2nd time as part of Foo Fighters. They were both inducted with Nirvana in 2013. Smear was a touring member who eventually became a permanent member of Nirvana. He is the one in the unplugged concert playing the multicolored accoustic guitar.
I'm 56, I was so fortunate to grow up in a time of some great music. I also got to see it change in so many fascinating ways. I really miss the whole garage band days when a group of neighborhood kids got together and started a band.
You need to listen to this entire album. But please, please, go right now and listen to Lake of Fire from it. It’s one of my absolute favourites of all time ever. Go. Right now.
This set was and still is 1 of the best of ANY music genre. I grew up with this band n they hold a special place for me, rarely listen 2 them but still great. Thrice is my favorite band and always will be.....
Nirvana & Kurt’s Genius Is A Given I Was So Lucky To Have Grown Up With This Scene & Bless MTV Unplugged For Priceless Moments!! Okay I Rambled A Bit Alex Is Growing On Me!! ❤️
Such a nostalgic song, Actually I am making a demo song called Lizard friends. And my demo is based on this song's lyrics and sounding. My song: my song is about drugs and losing friends, The genre of the song is alternative rock. But its not realeshed yet.
Whether you choose to react to more from this album or not, I do recommend listening to it all in one go at least once in your life. It's an experience in music, and even zen at some points. Beginning to end, give it a go. It's worth it.
The song "Pennyroyal Tea" is the song that stands out to me the most off this album. After the song is over you hear Dave tell Curt a sincere "that sounded good" where Curt replies "shut up". I can't help but think that with the lyrics of that song reflecting on Curt, Dave knew how bad Curt was with his health and mental condition.
I'm not the biggest Nirvana fan but if there was anybody that had a "Gentle Soul" it was Kurt Cobain who was Murdered by Courtney's Hitman! 😢 AIC and Nirvana unplugged are 2 of the Greatest albums of all Time!
Dude - you gotta do some electric Live Nirvana. Unplugged was cool but that's not who they were at their core. Do this next: School - Live at Reading 1992: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fa30bdEXNeM.html Love the channel!
You gotta listen to Volbeat- The Devil's bleeding crown. It's like the opposite energy of 'about a girl' but the both lead singers have just a unique sound to them
You understand that no one thought they could pull this off. No one. They were grunge. Screaming, yelling. Jumping into crowds and breaking drum sets. And now unplugged? Everyone thought they would fall flat on their faces. The rehearsal backstage before show was so bad they were thinking about canceling the show. Then they literary shocked everyone.
KyleReece and XY7 are right. Kurt was a gifted writer and performer. Heard from guitarist that he was a pretty good guitarist as well. He never really played all out metal style solos. BUT he did use very unique chords and chord progression. Say it's not super fast but the chords and way they're put together/played are Impressive. And really All the Unplugged's were Legendary especially Nirvana Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam! Basically you had to be a Legendary artist to even be considered/asked to do MTV Unplugged.
You should react to some Jimi Hendrix, best guitarist to have ever lived on this world. I recommend Foxey Lady live in Maui, in my opinion one of the best performances he did.
dude, we can't replace the legendary version of nirvana.. it's just the puddle of mudd version is just a drunk cover version, i know the fact that Wes is a huge fan of Kurt and he's enjoying to cover that song, he's a punk though and enjoys to cover that..
I like that the producers of the unplugged show wanted Kurt to smile more, hence why he gave that smile at the end of the performance. I miss talent lol...
Listened to the Beatles all night before writing this. If you can't tell. I'm sure you can easily hear the influence. Kurt was brilliant and a huge Lennon fan. Two brilliant writers. About a girl is gritty Beatles with Kurt's touch. Their Unplugged is a Masterpiece. But once and awhile check out their electric stuff man. That's what they were. Even if his Unplugged performance is one of my favorites and a masterpiece. And the direction Kurt was headed Check out Live at the Paramount, Aneurysm. Btw never listen to puddle of mud again thanks
Alex I just found this song from Stone Sour from their album come what(ever) may called zzyzx rd. It’s a love song written to Corey’s wife for helping him with his alcoholism and contemplation of suicide. Definitely give it a reaction and listen to. Very good song
