something i always appreciate about your covers/tone is that you always replicate how songs were played at that particular show, given how often they subtly changed. really shows your attention to detail ☺
@@NirvanaGuitars No problem mate. Yeah, he saw 'poor old Kurt' (as he would call him) perform twice at both Reading 91 & 92. Needless to say, I was also jealous :)
HE SAW BOTH READINGS?? Jaw dropped 🤯 I love Reading 92 but Reading 91 is one of my all time favorite shows and is the better of the two imo. Extremely jealous lol
I'm always amaze on how you recreate this live tones! You never disappoint us. The effort you put in this videos is mind-blowing! Live at reading introduced me to nirvana, and since then i have bought my own strat with hot rails on it just to recreate reading's tone. Thank you nirvanaguitars for this amazing recreation!!
Wow I cannot thank you enough for the kind words! I swear my VMA strat is converting me to be a strat guy. Strat + Hot Rails is like the perfect combination, no wonder Kurt went through like 4 of them! You've got a great guitar 😀
Your guitar playing somehow fills a adrenaline rush that even sugar can't cover! It's so cool you keep the spirit of Nirvana alive and i've been watching since the Nevermind songs in Bleach tone tour! Keep it up!
Such a great concert. I've always loved Lithium from this show in particular, the way the crowd sings along during the chorus gives it such a huge sound. Incredible video with a spot on tone, as always. Keep up the good shit man. Love your vids, rock on.
Spank thru is one of my favourite songs in general, so it was a nice surprise to see you recreate it (as well as the other songs) so accurately. Great video!
You are a real tone chaser. You have genuinely inspired me in so many ways. Your colection and tones are just so amazing. As somone who enjoys nirvana and guitar tones, i simply just fall into loving the tones. You are a lagend. Keep it up!🤩
I know I’ve said this like 5 times but this has to be your most spot on tone recreation yet, I’ve always been in love with Kurt’s tone at this show, and this sounds almost identical to the album. I never knew there was a Facebook group dedicated to Kurt’s guitars and gear, I plan on acquiring a Mesa/Crest amp setup like Kurt’s once I find a job that actually pays and that’s gonna be a huge help. Thanks for putting that out there!
Awesome video my friend. I’m not the biggest fan of the performance of Reading 92 but the tone was killer. For some reason I’ve always preferred Reading 91 but wished there was better video of it lol I’m glad to see the overdriven “cleans” most people miss this when doing Kurt live tone videos
The best video series on how to get the Nirvana sound and style. Thank you for sharing - as a 40something who grew up on Nirvana and just got a guitar for the first time this year, these videos are invaluable!
After doing the VMA tone, I knew this had to be the next tone I tried to get with it 😃 I really appreciate the kind words, that really means a lot thank you!
Came to check out the pedal settings. Just like you, I always thought it sounded like Kurt used the Turbo mode on his DS2 for this show. It always sounded more mid spiked to me, especially on songs like Territorial Pissings. However, with the amp settings, etc, I can now see why I thought it was Mode 2. The mids are pushed more the whole show. Thanks for this. Your stuff is great.
Thanks for your patience! I was super excited when playing D-7 and The Money Will Roll Right In in particular, I love the way his strat sounds during those songs
Bro i loved the video, i've tried to search this tone for so many time and finally found it much people doens't explain how you explain the tone i appreciate that, if you read this coment... please if you have time, can you make a tone video for the nulle part ailleurs tone thats another tone that ive been searching too i will be very grateful
What an incredible recreation you did man! It's the same sound, and I have a suggestion for a future video, could you recreate the tone of Nirvana live Seattle Center Coliseum 1992? specifically the song Rape Me, since in this version it has a different guitar solo from the one in Live at the Paramount 1991, I hope you can do it ;)
Please do the scentless apprentice rehearsal demo tone... Its so sludgy and raw.. I LOVE it... And im not sure what kinda peddle is being used for the screechy crying sound... Thank you, and the content is incredible, dude.. Keep it up :)
Awesome video!! You never fail to get such accurate tones. This might be a big ask, but do you think it could be possible for you to one day make a video showcasing every riff Kurt Cobain wrote, from around 1987 to 1994 (or at least most of them)? There really are so many, so I completely understand if that’s unreasonable 😅
On a Plain has always been my favorite song from this show and just barely above Spank Thru. i don't know what it is about this version of it, but it's my absolute favorite live version, and favorite song from Reading 92.
Thank you! In Utero tour era is my favorite, I've been meaning to make more videos about that era! I had to get to Reading though, it's been requested by a lot of people for a long time haha
You must've known Kurt personally really well if you go around speaking on his behalf, telling us what he would hate 30 years after his death. Did he personally tell you that he likes when you go around throwing tantrums at "kids" when they hurt your fragile feelings? If so, you're doing a great job.
Live At Reading will not always be one of the most iconic live rock shows and it'll always have one of the coolest guitar tones ever, killed it always man
Man its identical to the live, bro next time when you have the k strat make the tone recreation of nirvana in evergreen state college 1991 one of my favorite shows of that strat.
If you look closely on D-7 you will actually see the slow part of the song is played on the bridge but the heavy part he switches to the neck pickup when the distortion comes in. Watch the 4K videos and you can clearly see thats what he does.
Great job, you nailed the Reading tone! Unrelated, but I'm curious if you're ever interested in getting a Gibson? I know Kurt never used one, just for your own use
Yes kurt used a gibson he used an sg in the 1990 during the bleach tour it had a univox humbucker in the bridge position it was smashed in February of 1990 in Mexico
Thats k long time ive been playing for around 3-4 years. Im only 13 and im a huge fan pf your work can you do a studio tone recreation of hairspray queen
hello, little question (sorry if you answered it in the video and i didn't notice...) why do you think that your jaguar came closer than your strats to the tone of some of the songs in the show? (i presume that's why you used it, at least.) is it to do with the pickup it has or something else?
I replied but replies dont get replies? (I know its confusing) so here was the comment: Amazing Recreation! It was worth the wait! Also, where can i buy an accurate Vandalism Strat or a Competition Mustang for cheap? (maybe $250 or less?)
Is the tone really set that high on the DS-2? On my old DS-1 I max the distortion and level but the tone is rarely above 10 o’clock (which seems to be consistent with the general consensus RE Cobain’s setting. Is the natural eq on the DS-2 that different?
Hey just a quick question, I have a Marshall amp with gain on the clean tone… was just wondering what you would suggest I put it on for nirvana tone recreating
you said you'd never change the dimarzio pups, is that including vintage ones? i think a vintage pair of super distortions would be way more accurate, but that might just be me
I’m surprised you’ve never tried recreating one of the more underrated guitarist tone and guitar In Nirvana Jason Everman and his Fender Telecaster he was know for playing it alot live
There’s not really any high enough quality recordings during his 6 months in the band that we can hear the difference between his and Kurt’s tone. It all kinda mushes together. From the little bit I can pick apart, his sounds super trebly and harsh to me
