I think Kurt was more than capable of singing this on a good day. The high note in this song is the same as the one in Smells Like Teen Spirit. The difference is here it's sustained which makes it harder, but Kurt was a tenor, so he would have been able to do it.

I dunno about vocal training, but I'm sure he did sing this way sometimes... I mean, everybody has outtakes....lol 1:18 2:45 - 2:50 He was master of the vocal strain, but these choruses are the bad kind. I think this'd be a bit out of his range, tbh. Could be wrong. But even Layne didn't go for it all the time live, it's a hard note to reach.

There's no way Kurt would've been able to sing this, especially not live. By 1992 Nirvna were changing the keys to a lot of their songs because kurt couldn't reach the notes. Smells Like Teen Spirit live at Reading 1992 is the perfect example. The key is lowered and he still struggled to sing the chorus. Not hating, just pointing this out.

That's not the reason why they changed keys. It was just simpler to find a middle ground to play all the songs, that were recorded in different keys, live without having to tune them up and down constantly. In Reading 92 he visibly had throat issues but just episodic.
